Throughout my weight loss journey, I've become a pretty dedicated yogi. I think I limit myself in the poses I attempt, though, because there are lots of things I tell myself a heavy person "can't do" (when, of course, it's really just about strength and balance).
Today, my teacher encouraged me to try crow pose, one of the poses I've been most scared of. I had tried before, and I had just never been able to do it--too much fat, too little arm strength, and most importantly, too much fear. Still, she told me to try again, just for the **** of it...
...AND I DID IT. I got into crow and held it for a bit! This is a big victory for me for 2 reasons:
1) It shows me that I AM getting stronger and more agile and
2) I think it finally gave me the kick I needed to realize that I can't let my weight or fear of failure hold me back from getting what I want anymore.
Yay!
