Walk/run/jog plan critique?

  • My goal: run 5 miles. It doesn't have to be at Olympic speed though. Anyway I made a plan for myself so I can gradually build up to that. Once what i'm on is easy I go down another row. So I start out walking 2.6 miles. Once that gets easy I jog .7 and walk 1.3. Oh and for those who are wondering why the mileage is odd.... I'm running from my house to my old elementary school....which is 1.3 miles away. And all my points along the way are at the ends of streets or at a landmark and such. So ignoring that... is this the way to go at it? My area is a tad hilly so when the mileage jumps irregularly it's because I'm accounting for the fact running downhill is easier than uphill.
