Thanks for the advice everyone. I'm going to run again tonight, and I'm going to go much lighter on dinner, and get my starches/carbs in at breakfast and lunch. I'm hoping that doing that will help. I'll plan on repeating W4 till I successfully complete each of the 3 days.

And i'm planning to repeat running week 4 another week until I feel totally comfortable with it before moving on.

I usually eat 2-3 hours before the run - not too light nor too heavy (like cheese with 1 small serving rice). I once didn't eat and i felt light headed and almost passed out. I normally run at 6-6.30PM so I eat around 3-4PM. And then have another light dinner at 8.30PM (just some meat and veggie).

Thanks Annita! That gives me lots of hope for today. :running: I have been keeping my pace steady on running when using the treadmill, so if I feel like I can't make it again tonight, I'm going to try running my last 5 minutes at 4mph instead of power-walking it at 4mph. Hopefully I'll just be able to run it at 5mph like I want to! Maybe just the lighter dinner I'm planning will help me? I don't want to split it up and eat earlier, since we eat as a family each night, and I'm the one who does the cooking! I need to find the balance that will work for me on my running days, and I really want to be able to post here tomorrow that I finished W4D1 too!!!!

Finished C25K!

It is done. In honour of my last run in the C25K program I figured it would be appropriate to run 5K or 3.12 miles. And I did it! 36:01! Woohoo! :carrot:

Is this the end? No. I plan on running a 5K in September and will continue to add 1/4 mile to my runs per week until I can run 5 miles - at that point, 3 should be a piece of cake (at least, that's the theory).

I worked hard to get to this point and hope to continue to maintain it. BTW - I took the long road - About 4 months to get here, repeating weeks, life getting the way and an injury slowed me down, but I finished it regardless. And I started slow - read my post about 'running' 2 miles in 32 minutes...

Hang in there everyone! Look forward to reading your 5K results!!

Thanks! Looks like you're due to finish anyday now, yourself! Way to go!

Way to go NTexas!! That's quite an accomplishment. Now you can buy the C25k T-shirt. ;) (Seriously, one of my friends did when she got it done!)

I completed W6D2 today and I felt great, despite the oppressive morning heat. The key for me has been scouting my town for shady routes with a good breeze. (The trails around here are really shady, but absolutely no breeze!) I might end up running the 25 min run tomorrow (instead of skipping a day) because I have no idea how I'll be able to squeeze it in this weekend, as I'll be gone at a conference. Once I get that run tackled, I'm off to buy new running shoes!

JuhiR 07-19-2011 03:48 PM

Congrats NTexas! Not only are you done with it, you're also running 12 min miles!

Annita 07-20-2011 07:48 AM

Congrats NTexas. You're an inspiration ^_^

I ran W4d2 today. Ah I didn't really complete it - the last 5 minutes I couldn't make it through, therefore I ran 3 minutes and walk 2 minutes.
But at least I know that I ran faster today and only couldn't make the last 5 minutes running interval (because I ran 1 lake-round more than yesterday :P). And my stomach hurt really bad at that last interval >"< I've been having stomached for a few days since the beach trip few days ago - probably I ate too much seafood >"<

I'm again going on a family trip 4 days and 3 nights - SO for 3 days I don't think I can run. But at least I'll be walking around a lot so it somehow makes up for the days I can't run (sightseeing and traveling).

@SusanMay: hope to hear you make it ^_^

@kariatari T-Shirt?

@NTexas WTG! Congrats!

I finally am back running after a busy week without any C25K. I finished week 8 yesterday and I was surprised how well I did after a week without running. Anyways, on we go to W9. Wooohooo! I am still speakless that I made it that far.

JuhiR 07-20-2011 10:19 AM

w1d2 - glad I stuck it past day 1. Was very fearful that I wouldn't make it, given that I'm past 40 in age. Once I was on the treadmill (yes, I'm starting indoors, hopefully that will work out in the long run), I found that my legs worked, but breathing was a little bit of a problem.

But, I'm excited that I finished! I'm covered with sweat and gotta go take a quick shower and rush to work.

SusanMay 07-20-2011 10:31 AM

@Annita - I did make it!! I was slower, but I'm still very happy! Sorry you didn't make your full run last night, but it sounds like you are so close to getting it in with a good speed!! It's nice to have someone else to post with who is in the same part of the program as me. :)

I think I may have been being a little unrealistic in my approach to this week. I thought I could do all of my running at the same pace, just by using the program and working up each day on it. I guess if I was running on pavement I would not be consistant in my pace the whole time I was running, and I went into last nights redo of W4D1 with that in mind. So, I ran at 5mph for the 1st 5 minute and 3 minute run, and then at 4mph for the next 3 minute run to give me a bit more of a cool-down, and then bumped it up to 4.2 mph for the last 5 minute run. I finished with no issues at all, except my brain thinking I should have been able to do the whole thing at 5mph. I need to look at it as an average of 4.5+ mph instead of it being a bad thing that I ran the last half a whole mph slower.

I need to look at getting the solid runs in and worry about keeping a steady pace later. I was so happy that I actually finished the running parts, because I felt terrible about my failure earlier this week. Trial and error I guess! I also ate a little lighter for dinner, but nothing terribly different.

NTexas 07-23-2011 03:41 PM

Really? Three days without a post? Come on, guys - get running (and posting) :) My third post C25K run is tomorrow and thanks for all the congrats.

SweetPeach3388 07-23-2011 03:46 PM

I'm just starting... W1D3 later today :)

TXFrogDog 07-23-2011 06:18 PM

I too am in the beginning of the program. Finished W2D1 this morning.

I had a 30 second pause during the walking section because I saw a 5 ft king snake about 2 feet off the path :eek: and had to warn some kids passing on bikes.

Other than that it went pretty well.
