Dancing Alone In Bedroom?

  • For exercise when I can't get to the gym (too far to walk in this cold and icy weather plus it has crap hours and i don't like walking alone after dark)
I tend to dance home alone to high energy songs (like Raise Your Glass by Pink) for the duration of the song and then take a break, then another song, etc.

In my dance moves, I have no rhythm, I'm sure I look ridiculous but I put in a lot of taibo movements, some karate moves, and a little bit of bouncy jogging in place as well as sort of flinging myself around the room being silly. so much more fun then trying to follow a workout DVD

Does anyone else do this? Does anyone think this is effective?
  • Haha. I do that sometimes too. I'm really not sure if it's effective or not though. I wouldn't replace a regular workout at the gym with dancing in my room, although it can be fun.

But I agree, I hate those workout videos so dance away
  • i do this and call it my "crazy lady dancing like a maniac alone in her apartment" workout...
i'm sure it's still cardio since my heart is thudding and i'm sweating after a couple of lady gaga songs...
  • I did this today..in addition to some other cardio. It felt great and I was holding my 2 year old while I did it so im sure I burned some cals!

    I like

    "Gasolina" Daddy jankee
    "Tik Tok" Kesha
    "hips dont lie" Shakira
  • Dancing is my only form of workout so far, and it's definitely giving me results!

I've recently switched from crazy dance-around-the-room sessions to a more structured and choreographed workout where I never stop moving during the entire 30 minutes, but I don't see why you couldn't accomplish the same thing without the choreography. There are tons of stories of people out there who use the Wii games/DDR and lose whole gobs of weight, so I would say it should work!
  • I've tried, but I rather follow a dance workout videos. I just wouldn't move fast enough on my own.
  • Playlist?
