  • Music is the number one thing that really pushes me when I exercise, so I thought it would be fun if we could share what we listen to. Give some new ideas to eachother etc. I'll start.

What music do you listen to when you exercise?
  • I like to listen to audio books while exercising. I find that I will often walk an extra 10 or 15 minutes because I am not at a good stopping point in the book.
  • Here are some examples that are on my playlist:
    Bloq Party
    Regina Spektor
    AFI
    Pink Floyd
    Doves
    Arcade Fire
    The Hives
    Lady Gaga
    The Bravery
    Circa Survive
    Death Cab For Cutie
    Interpol
    Moving Units
    ................

I guess I am bit of an indie/rock junkie
  • black eyed peas, lady gaga, ac/dc and lately I've been getting into DJ mixes, the constant changing of songs and beats keeps me from getting bored
  • I listen to books too.
If you like audiobooks I highly recomens www.Audible.com and get a membership.
  • For the intense stuff at the gym, I totally love up-tempo stuff that I can really get into, pop, rock, anything really. Lady Gaga, Wolfmother, Led Zeppelin, just to name a few.

I also really love just simple walking to songs that I find really beautiful and striking, mainly because when I workout my mind just wanders away! I will find myself daydreaming about if I was a singer or something and that was my song. It passes the time well and is really pleasant!
  • Some of my favorites aren't recent, but they're full of energy and keep me going:

    - Incubus
    - Weezer
    - Lifehouse
    - Switchfoot
    - Jimmy Eat World
    - Paramore
    - Dashboard Confessional (I feel like I'm back in college and it makes me laugh at how emo it is )

I have a membership to Audible too and also recommend it. I also get audio books from my local library. I can download them at home. They don't have as big a selection as Audible but they are free!
  • U.S. Army Cadences
  • Quote: U.S. Army Cadences
LOL Katkitten! I bet that's the best motivator of all!

OK, I have a confession. I am old (38) and I have totally missed the Lady Gaga thing. If I were to download one CD of hers -- which should it be?

I don't listen to music when I run b/c long ago someone told me it messes with your body's natural rhythm. But I'm going to try to lift more so I'd like some music for that. and for any other machines I'm forced to use during the winter.
  • welll unlike my normal music taste i listen to trance music when running, the constant rythms really push me foward.

    Fame Monster
  • I login into Pandora.com and listen to 80's pop when I work out. I am a child of the 80's so it always gets me going.
  • It varies, but a lot of current pop music...Right now the songs that get me going the most are:
Lady Gaga - Bad Romance (but by the Glee cast)
Ke$ha - Blah Blah Blah and Tik Tok
Christina Aguilera - Keeps Gettin' Better
Marky Mark & the Funky Bunch - Good Vibration
    Britney Spears - Toxic

I try to avoid listening to the music I work out to if I'm not working out...I don't want to get bored of it.
  • I love these kinds of posts! Must look into the cadences thing, that would sure be different and kinda motivating!....

Stuff I like to listen to on my pod (Lord I'd die w/o my precious pod)

#1 "Die Another Day" by Madonna, from the Bond movie soundtrack. Good long song for running and pushing yourself, great beat.

#2 "Heavy" by Collective Soul, again just a hugely pounding beat, great for running to...

#3 "Mexico" by James Taylor, got married in Mexico and this makes me daydream about it. Nice and upbeat, 'happy' song.

Just so many great songs out there...I have a TON of 80's, Prince, Depeche Mode, Billy Idol (Rebel Yell is always in there when doing a 5K) and The Cure. Gwen Stefani and Fergie/Black Eyed Peas, and Rihanna are also played a lot. (i.e. 'Hollaback Girl' and 'Let's Get It Started', and 'Shut up and Drive'

Oh, and my niece recently introduced me to Owl City and they are growing on me. Especially 'Fireflies', silly lil happy song.

Man, Now I wanna listen to all of these...I'm gonna go run while it's still light out...it's mid 70's here today, unheard of for this time of year in my area.
