I Did It! First 5K!
I ran my first 5K this morning with an unofficial time of 46:30!
I ran the first mile, did run/walk intervals the second mile, and ran the third mile. I've only completed W4 of C25K (over a period of 6 weeks) with no previous running experience at all. It was pretty freakin' amazing! I think it was the biggest accomplishment of my life. I feel like I've slain a dragon or something! :cloud9: |
WOO HOO!! Way to go!!!
I hope to follow in your footsteps soon :) Looking at signing up for one in the fall - no time before then. Congratulations!! :carrot: :carrot: :carrot: :carrot: |

That is really amazing! I have a 5k in August and I would love to have that kind of time.. I'm not much of a good runner, but I'm working on it. Definitely inspiring of you to share. :)
Any tips or advice? |
I signed up for my first in September. I am so excited and scared. It is because of Posts like YOURS that I finally signed up. I want to feel like I SLAINED a DRAGON! Awesome job!!!

To go from not running at all to finishing a 5k is a great accomplishment - especially in such a short span of time! congrats:D

Wow, these replies were so uplifting!
To those of you who are looking to do a 5K in the future, my only advice is this...JUST DO IT. Don't ever give up on that goal. Even on your worst run day when you think it's impossible. Even when the voices in your head tell you it's impossible. Even when the Fear Monster lurks about with messages of doom. Even when you look at pictures in Running World of those long, lean, muscular people who look like "runners." Just keep pressing on and know that you are beautiful and empowered and capable and amazing. JUST DO IT! :D And I have to add an amusing footnote about my race. I'm a newspaper reporter and when my co-workers found out I'd signed up for a race they all had a hundred ideas for stories and photos. (Oy vey!) Today my editor decided that she wants a first person account of the race. So, yeah, I have to write a story for the whole town to read about the whole nerve-racking dripping-sweat last-place dragon-slaying experience. :o |
Rocherster, I sure hope you're gonna let us read that story too  ... :bravo: on your success...
