  • K that really does look like fun... I had a friend asking me a month or two ago if I'd ever seen or heard of Zumba. Might have to check it out!
  • I like it so much I am attending the instructor's workshop next Saturday! It's a REALLY good workout, and fun! The time flies by!
  • I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE Zumba!!! I take as many classes as I can per week. Seriously, I go 8 times Monday-Saturday MINIMUM. I only started 2 weeks ago.

I seriously can't say enough good things about it. It is SOOOO fun!!! EVERYONE should try it. It is making me love exercise!!!
  • Zumba is so much fun! I love it. However, it is not as challenging as other workouts. I think that if you want to do some moderate cardio and have fun, do Zumba.
  • I don't know about the DVDs, but Zumba class is SO much fun and I burn a ton of calories and every part of my body feels worked. It should definitely be challenging, though I still need more strength training on top of it. You can't get a better form of cardio!

Zumba will be as challenging as you make it. You can go kind of low key and not jump or anything or you can step it up and put the most into every move. The more you give the more you are going to burn. We have some girls who go all out twisting, twirling, jumping, etc. and others who keep their feet on the floor. It depends where you are physically but mentally as well. Just as with all other forms of exercise, you have to push yourself to really see the greatest results. BUT it's easier to push with Zumba because it is so fun!

You don't have to be coordinated....you should see my sister the point is to do your best, challenge yourself, and just keep on moving. It has a lot to do with your instructor as well and good they are at giving the cues of what is coming up next. We have our main instructor who ROCKS and even the uncoordinated ones get it rather quickly, then there is a new girl trying to start out and she gives no cues at all and most people are lost all the time. The instructor's energy is also a huge factor in the success of the class.

It is addicting, though! I go with my sister and a friend and we are all addicted to it now!
  • Pcos
Quote: I have been taking Zumba classes since last Monday (I've been to a total of 5 classes) and I love it!! I used to be a dancer, but I gained quite a bit of weight due to PCOS/insulin resistance so I was hesitant to put myself into a room of people who I envisioned being experts. At the classes I go to, the instructor tells us that if you can't get the arms, get the legs; and if you can't get the legs, get the arms; and if you can't get any of it, just keep moving! There are people of all experience levels in the class and it's a blast. The classes are 1 hour long and I can't get enough. I'm so addicted, I've already bought zumba attire LOL

I would definitely recommend for anyone to try it out!
I too am PCOS/insulin resistance and dance in high school was the only time my weight was under control with dancing three days a week. Now I'm 32 and love zumba. I have been to 6 classes. Has anyone in my shoes have results with zumba?
  • I phoned because I knew there was a class locally a friend had mentioned... they only offer the class at 9am Tuesdays and Thursdays! So bummed! Darn work! Has anyone done Zumba from the DVD's? I thought the class looked so fun when I looked up a video...
  • Quote: I saw a Zumba ad somewhere a while back and thought it was something to look into, and then forgot all about it. Well, my mind randomly popped out a thought about it earlier today, Goggled it, and found out they have classes at my local YMCA 4 days a week!! I am not currently a member of my local YMCA, but may very well be joining in the near future because the non member fee would quickly cost more than a membership.

I was wondering if anyone here has done Zumba, and your thoughts on it. It looks AWESOME, and so much fun!
I just started doing zumba. It is fun, (tiring too) Once I get the steps I'll be better right now I'm a little behind. I'd recommend it.
