Default When is the Best Time to workout?

I know everyone has their preference to working out before or after work, but what really burns the most calories. I thought it was working out in the morning because it gives your heart rate and metabolism a little boost, but someone told me its at night because your body can rest better. I really don't know the truth! If anyone knows that would be great.

Well they both have their pros and cons (well no cons really)...But some ppl say (and this tends to be my opinion) that if you work out after you are done eating for the day, that it helps metabolize everything you ate, and keeps you burning more calories as you sleep. While if you do it first thing in the morning...before you have eaten...chances are that you have digested whatever you had in your stomach...and the working out is going directly to your fat stores...and there is the added bonus of having an elevated metabolism all day. I just can't work out without having eaten breakfast.

I used to get up and go to the Y every morning after I'd drop my son off at daycare.. and that worked GREAT for me.. THEN. Now that's I'm not getting up every morning early I just workout whenever I can get the motivation.. Some days its morning some days I hold off til night because DANG i just really didn't feel like working out and had to force myself to do it before I'd allow myself to go to bed

the answer is when you get it done.

Now personally I can NOT exercise at night because it revs me up too much and I cant sleep. So that cremates my metabolism.

Try both and see which you like better and which works best for you.

I am like ennay, if I exercise too late in the evening (and on some days it means to be done with exercise at 8 pm, as I usually go to bed at or soon after 10 pm) it keeps me up and I can't fall asleep easily and I don't sleep too well during the night.

I used to do a lot of exercise first thing in the morning, without any breakfast at all because I feel like it "weighs me down" too much. Now I have lower back issues so exercise first thing in the a.m. is not so great because my back feels stiff.
Also, I feel differently after different types of exercise. After cardio, I am not that hungry afterwards but the hunger comes later. After weight lifting, I am usually completely starved. So there is absolutely no chance in **** I would go to bed after weight lifting without having eating high-protein meal after the exercise.

Exercise when it suits you and don't worry if morning or evening is better. The main thing is to get the exercise done.

I like morning because it wakes me up more than a cup of coffee ever can- the bad thing about it is sometimes I'm so tired it's hard to get motivated to start. It's nice, also, to know it's done for the day and I don't have to worry about it. I think I would also be too rev'd up for sleep if I did it in the evening, but I don't know- I've never done it. I hate to exercise and I'm just happy to get it over with.

I prefer the middle of the afternoon, because it's not too close to bedtime and I dont feel like I am just burning of the food I ate for the day. Mornings almost never happen for me, because it takes me a while to get going. I am more sore the next day if I work out later. Just my opinion

A wise friend once told me to exercise in the morning. Then, even if you accomplish nothing more for the whole day, at least you've done your workout.

I'm at my best in the middle of the day but I try to get my workout done as early as I can.
