Default Calisthenics Work outs

Hey,

In Karate we often do calisthenics as part of our warm up/cool down. I'm interested in it also because it's a work out that doesn't require a lot of equipment to do.

I've been trying to come up with a routine comprised of calisthenics, but am kind of aimless in what to do. I'm also looking for a cardio substitute for running. Unfortunately I just hate running and don't do it because i hate it...

have Any of you had any experience with calisthenics work outs? Did you find them effective? What moves did you do? Any resources you could point me to?

I am not sure if it's true, but I thought that calisthenics were a big thing in military work outs....

thanks in advance!

Have you tried Jillian Michaels' Banish Fat Boost Metabolism dvd? I know that there's some calisthenics in it, but the whole dvd might not be calisthenics. Buuut... you don't need any equipment and it seriously kicks butt!! Try it!

I always thought the barre workouts are callestics or callestics inspired like bar method, lotte berk, and more. Just amazon search barre workouts. All you really need is a tall backed chair for them.

I do calisthenics at home when I don't go to the gym. I usually do the 8 minute buns workout (search youtube). It's old school but great nonetheless! They also have the abs and legs version.
