Strange but True: Exercise Intensity

  • I thought I'd share this little blurb that was in this month's Glow Magazine:

    Quote:
When you work out with others, you can handle twice as much pain as when you exercise alone. According to research from the UK, communal exercise increases the endorphin rush you get from physical activity, and this natural high makes you feel less pain. That's great news if you have hit an exercise plateau and aren't seeing the results you want - just sign up for a group fitness class to push yourself harder.
And a bonus blurb from the same section of the magazine:

    Quote:
The next time you're being hard on yourself about your appearance, drop the negative self-talk and pick up your gym bag. Researchers at the University of Florida found that exercise improves how people feel about their bodies, even if they don't experience noticable weight-loss, muscle definition or increased strength.
  • I totally agree with the second one. If I am feeling like I look chubby or unhappy, I go running! It makes me feel better about myself. Rather than eating a tub of ice cream or something that I used to do
