Default A (Literal) Pain in the Butt

This question pertains to exercise and how to recover from an injury. On Friday, I wiped out on some stairs in my building. They were wet from the rain, and my feet went right out from under me. I landed pretty hard on the rear, and in addition to some bruising on my elbow and calf, I have one big old bruise on my butt. (We're talking eight inches by three inches and eggplant purple.) I took the weekend off from my exercise routine simply because I was so, so sore. However, I want to get back into things today. I was wondering if anybody has any tips for easing back into things when my hiney is still pretty sore, and my leg and arm muscles aren't completely back to normal.

I've never been hurt like this before, so I've never had to ease back into exercise. What's a good way to get started without either (a) prolonging the injury or (b) making it worse?

You know I had a similar experience before except mine was from falling off a horse - she zigged and I zagged - not fun! But I found the best thing was to keep moving - don't worry too much about strength exercises or anything like that but just keep walking until the soreness wears off. Because if you walk and keep your circulation going you will heal up more quickly!
