GoodLife Fitness

  • Is anyone else a member at a GoodLife gym? I thought we could talk about their classes, etc

I got a 1-year membership this past July. I went several times, and then got hung up on being embarrassed to be there because I was always the biggest person there, and didn't go for over a month. Then, my husband went to work a shutdown and was working 7 days/week, 12hr shifts, overnights. He was only home/awake for 3hrs/day and we couldn't afford the cost of using the gym childcare for 3 kids for me to go. So from Sept-Dec I didn't go at all, and my diet followed right out the window.

I went back last night for the first time, and wrote myself up a schedule on our family calendar for me to go 4x/week.

Last night I did the BodyPump class, and it totally kicked my butt! The gym is located upstairs at our supermarket, and I could barely make it down the stairs to get to my car afterwards, my legs were so shaky LOL I'm definitely feeling it this morning, too. I plan on going back, though, and doing the class twice a week. I'd rather get my strength training in this way, I don't really like the machines very much.

Sunday I plan on trying the NewBody class, and I'd like to try the BodyFlow class, too.
  • Good for you for starting a schedule ... I remember reading on an other thread about your embarassement in the gym, I'm glad you're pushing through it ... Eventually you'll make friends and maybe get a group of you to go to the weight room....
  • Thanks for the encouragement, Ilene!
  • Hi Makingskinny ...

I don't go to a Goodlife gym... (just go to the local one in my small hometown in New Zealand) ... but we have bodypump classes which I love ..... I also want to get back into bodybalance classes (I think this is bodyflow in the US) .......

Keep at it .... some of the other bodies in the class (not mine) do seem to keep me motivated to keep going !!!

Im a bit scared of the weight machines too ....
  • Thanks, HMS!

I'm not scared of the machines, exactly. It's just that I'm so short, I have to make all these adjustments to them every time I want to use them. Adjusting the seat height, adjusting the seat distance, adjusting the reach, adjusting the weights... I think I spend more time adjusting the machine than I do actually working on it, and each one the adjustment numbers are different, so I have to carry around a little card with them all written out, else I'd never remember them all LOL
  • I can't adjust ..... I just hope for the best lol .... suppose it is easier in that regard being a little bit taller ...
