Default is it just me or are there others

Is it just me or are there any others that feel a need to spit when running? I get a buildup of siliva and whatnot, and i have to spit. I know it sounds gross and/silly,but will this need go away with time?

It is gross, and I've always needed to spit when I run. I just try to do it in the grass. When I was in the Army and ran with hundreds of people every morning, there'd be people spitting right and left.

Yup. I spit a lot while I run. I feel like I need to spit when I swim too. Some people lean over the edge and spit into the drain; it's pretty gross.

I have to spit and blow my nose. My dh says running gives him the opportunity to really clear everything out. I don't think it ever goes away.

I tend to want to spit a lot as well. I figured it was because I breathe mostly with my mouth... But you're not alone.

Not so much the problem with spit, but I have to carry a Kleenex because when I run my nose does too.

Absolutely! I spit a lot when I run. Remember if you're in a road race to pull to the right, and spit to the right. I've been spit on so many times in races and it's really disgusting.

Same here. (I laughed at this.) Have you seen those running gloves that feature a special surface on the fingers, just so that you can wipe your nose with them? I am not making this up. Which proves this is common & there's a definite market need out there, or no one would have dreamed up such a thing.

My stepdad has those gloves, he and I were laughing about it at Christmas. I'd rather keep using my tissue though!

My nose runs too. I carry a handkerchief because it runs too much for a single Kleenex to handle--I'd have to carry a small box of Kleenex. My handkerchief is monogrammed with the letter "S," which I tell myself stands for "Supergirl."

In fact, my nose runs when I do any type of exercise. When I'm at the gym, I use my towel as my handkerchief. I've read that it is a medical condition--having your nose run when you exercise--and there's not really much that can be done about it.

But I don't have any problem with needing to spit. I do think I produce more saliva when I'm exercising, because once in a while, I've caught myself drooling when doing push-ups or something where my face is looking down, but I think I mostly just swallow the saliva without realizing it.

Man. All these years I've been using either my gloves or my tee shirt (neckline, arm, hem--whatever reaches without flashing my bra at the whole neighborhood). They're all getting washed regularly anyway and snot doesn't stain.

I've got to learn to spit, though. It's gross but I've finished a few runs feeling like I'm choking.
