Just thought I share my recent experiences on how patience can really be the key in busting a plateau.
I'll start with a little bit of background as I'm very much a stranger in the Exercise forums. I'm coming toward the end of my weightloss journey so I'm fighting for every pound. Most of my weightloss has been done without regular exercise, although I was generally active. I'd got to 112lbs lost and within 8lbs of my original goal by Easter this year and then stalled. I decided that lowering calories further was not an option as I knew that any loss by that method would not be sustainable for me. So upping the calorie output was necessary. I bought Wii Fit back in April and although it got me active and moving it rarely got me breathing heavily and never got me sweating. I lost another 3 or 4 lbs over the next 8 or so weeks. I was 175lb. A month ago I decided to buy EA Sports Active - now this feels more like exercise and boy did I sweat. End of week one was disappointed to find I'd gained 2lb - nevermind I told myself its just water weight. Stuck to it and end of week 2, fairly confident I must have lost weight, but now a further 1lb gain. I was nearly back to where I was at Easter! Week 3 I was on vacation no Wii but I did a lot of challenging hiking and some gym work. Back at the EA Sports Active this week and weighed myself this morning to see 172lb. That's a 6lb loss in the last two weeks.
So yes, it really can take a great deal of patience and determination for results to be seen but it can be worth it in the end.
