Default The Simple Fitness Rules

I don't validate or condone this article nor the opposite of such but I do find it intriguing and wanted to share.

"Health and fitness are usually made to seem too complex.

If you read a lot of fitness magazines and blogs (as I often do), you’re told a confusing variety of complex advice. It makes your head spin.

You’re told that eggs, butter and meat are bad for you. Then another crowd will tell you those same things are actually good. Then you’ll hear running is good for you, and the bodybuilding and primal crowds will scoff at longer-distance running. You’ll hear that lifting weights is the best way to get into shape, and others will laugh at that. You’ll hear a million variations of the best workouts, of when to time your nutrition, of how to periodize your workouts, of how to measure fitness, of what supplements you need to take … ad nauseum.

It’s enough to make you want to give up.

Fortunately, fitness doesn’t have to be that complex...."

IMO, I believe what ever makes your heart pump faster is good for you. Whether it's walking, lifting, running, running up and down the stairs doing the laundry, ANYTHING that gets you huffin' and a puffin' and your blood flowin' is great.

I used to get caught up in all those different work outs and I was panicking for a while thinking I was doing it ALL wrong. Saying to myself "Oh no, I didn't lift 3 times this week, I'm not gonna lose anything!" But in the end, I still lost lbs.

So I guess what I'm trying to say is, I don't think there is a wrong or right way as long as the pounds are coming off.

Thanks for the link!

Fitness is an industry, first and foremost. Magazines, articles, tv shows -- pretty much ALL of them state that to get FIT you need to go to the gym and get a trainer and lift weights on a certain schedule. This article shows that fitness can come from another place or mindset and it just doesn't have to be so darned COMPLICATED.

Thanks!

Kira

Yea I often catch myself getting worked up over my exercise routine and my eating plan, but in the end I remind myself that all I have to do is eat less, move more, eat less, move more.

In addition to regularly scheduled exercise I try to "inject" activity in my day and adapt that as my new lifestyle. I am a fit person now, and a fit person gets out one subway stop early and walks the rest of the way. A fit person parks far away from the entrance to the mall, they don't drive around in circles waiting for the closest spot, etc.

Eat less
Move more
