Im new... Joined a gym!

  • Hi all, Im new here and wanted to start off by saying HI!!! This website seems REALLY GREAT and Motivating, I love it already!!!

Ok, so I finally joined a gym after months of debate on possibly wasting the money and then not showing up. I realized that its for the best and I have to do this for ME! I've been more focused on the workout more than the food.

6 days a week 1hr! Food: same things I love, cut down on portions w/ added salads, fruits and veggies, about 1400-1600 cal a day. So far Im really enjoying the gym. Im mostly taking group class to switch it up each time which really kick my butt. If Im running late and miss a class I do 20min treadmill, 20 bike, 10 elliptical, and 10min weights! Its been over 3 weeks and I havent lost anything yet which is very frustrating, but I will keep on!

I also think I will get a new scale the one at home say Im at 230 the 2 scales at gym say 220 which I would love!! Im 28, 5'8'' and have been struggling since I was about 12. This is my heaviest.

    Any advice or pointers?!

    Thanks!
  • hey bellez23,
just got back on track myself.

what might help you is get one trainer session just to evaluate where you're at and get you going.
i learned today that i can actually run, which i haven't done in years,...
and i hope i'll keep doing it to kick start my cardio exercise.

your calorie intake may be a bit too low for you depending on how active you are.

    good luck!!!
  • Bellez23 ... Firstly, congrats on taking charge of your life with exercise and controlled eating ...

Advice : be consistent in food and exercise, try not to yo-yo, easier said than done, I know, but it's my best advice...

Good luck, keep us posted on your progress...
  • Thanks!!
  • Yay!! Welcome! I'm a fellow newbie myself. So glad you joined a gym! I'm realy wanting to do the same. I don't have much advice for you right now, but I just want to encourage you to keep at it, even though it is frustrating. Results will show! And you'll find yourself enjoying the workout even more and more. :-)
