Wii Fit

Anyone using Wii Fit to get on the exercise wagon?

We bought one 10 days ago and so far so good -- I decided to take 2 days off a week if I felt like it and have unlocked a lot of new stuff.

I have a few favorites and a routine I've been doing. I am so beginner with the yoga it's not even funny: breathing, sun salutation, palm tree and I think that's it. Then strength I do a few more.

But aerobics is my thing: I do dancing (the beginner and the advanced), hula hoop (SO MUCH FUN) and my absolute favorite, Boxing! I sweat up a storm.

Then there are some balanced games for my cool down: the penguin and ski jump are my two favs.

All in all I do an average of about 50 minutes a day, which compared to my 0 minutes before has been a lot!

Anyone else want to share? Need help? Tips?

I'm beginning to love my wii fit as more than a scale lately haha. I don't really like the aerobics or balance games that much, I'd rather jump rope or bike for that. So far I've not unlocked much though. I do enjoy the bubble balance game, mostly cause it's just fun haha.

But the yoga I absolutely love. I'm trying to do 30 minutes of it every day because my flexibility is about as bad as you can get. The deep breathing is so relaxing though... it's kinda bad cause it makes me wanna fall asleep on my board lol. The weight training can be tiring lol! More tiring than the aerobics sometimes. I haven't done much of that though because I don't have a lot of room to get down on the ground unfortunately. So I do the standing exercises. Oh yea, the yoga pose I suck at most: Sun salutation. I've never been able to touch my toes even when I was a skinny 6 year old ballerina (it so proves flexibility has nothing to do with weight lol!). I'm so hoping if I continue with this, maybe in a few months I'll be able to! That would be the most awesomest thing.

I'm excited to unlock the boxing though. I've heard it's like, THE favorite mini game. And if it's anything like wii sports boxing, it'll make me tired lol.

wiginn 02-18-2009 05:03 PM

I also just recently bought a WII Fit and am having fun with it. I'm not relying on it for all of my exercise, but have found it fun to have something else to do to get in some extra activity.

I haven't tried the boxing yet, but do have it unlocked...I'll have to give that a try! Yoga has proven to me how uncoordinated I am, but I'm improving! I love the aerobics and balance games, too....the bubble game frustrates me. I cannot get around the first island. :-)

crazycurls 02-18-2009 09:03 PM

Wiginn...I HATE that stupid bubble game! I am terrible at it!

I just got a wii fit about 5 days ago and I love it! I don't use it as primary exercise but it's a nice added activity. I have done an exercise during all the commericials of a long TV show.

CountingDown 02-18-2009 09:32 PM

Almost every day
~10 minutes expert boxing
~6 minutes super hula hoop
~5 minutes advanced step
~5 minutes island lap run
~10 minutes yoga
~10 minutes assorted (ski jump, slalom skiiing, tricep extentions, etc.)

I really enjoy it!

Inkedmama98 02-18-2009 09:36 PM

Is there a weight limit on the balance board? I dont even know if I could use it :O(

Yes - 330 lbs.
So, you will be fine.

That being said, it will hold much more without breaking, but it will not register weights above 330. (DS2 uses it and he is over 330).

Thank you so much! :O) that is VERY exciting news :carrot:

jenne1017 02-19-2009 02:32 AM

Yay it's so good to hear other people are enjoying theirs too! I love the boxing and sweat to death. The first time I got on it, my Wii Fit age was 29!!!! 2 years younger than I was. Boy do I wish I remember what "test" it gave me because since then I've been all over the map -- in the upper 40s to low 30s.

I do use it as my only real exercise so 1 hour it is.

Oh I do the breathing exercises last, as a cool down in both Yoga as well as the "balance" one.

I hate the running one! Hate it! I think I am going to try soccer tomorrow!

mishi09 02-19-2009 12:38 PM

I have been using this for a while. I love my wii fit. The hard part for me is figuring out what I should do.

mylife040507 02-24-2009 08:15 AM

I got mine on Friday! I love it. I have a hard time doing the Fit with my daughters around! My 1 1/2 year old likes to get on it when I'm getting my test done or a few games! Yesterday I got my first 28 age, my right age. I did get a 67 once but mostly 47. When I got the 67 I had the board facing the wrong way, my bad! I haven't gotten boxing yet. What did you do for that to unlock it?

Symphony 02-24-2009 12:28 PM

I got one a week and a half ago and I love it. It really motivates me to work out everyday because I hate getting on it after I've skipped a day and have it say, "Too busy to exercise yesterday, eh?". Has anyone unlocked the free step program yet? That's my favorite because the step rhythm comes through the Wii Remote and you can watch TV while you do the exercise. I did it for 20 minutes a couple days ago and it was great. I also really like the yoga. Some of the strength exercises kill me though...rowing squats? OW!

jessicapina 02-24-2009 12:57 PM

I LOVE my Wii Fit too! If I'm not able to take the TV away from the family for 30 mins for my 30DS I turn on the Wii and work on the Free Step for 30 mins. You would think it's not doing much but your calves will be sore the next day I guarantee that! :exercise:

I guess the people at Wii Fit also thought about busy tvs and want to make sure we have no excuse on not exercising. ;)

The only thing I don't get is the running game. So I run with the wii fit but it ALWAYS gives me one star. How am I supposed to run to get more than one star and not running ahead of the other Mii? :?: Any advice?

grasshoppermf 02-24-2009 04:04 PM

I use the Wii Fit too. I have mine for almost a month now. I use it everyday. I even bought another Wii system for the weekend house and bring the balance board back & forth so I don't miss my Fit time.

I enjoy the balance games as my warm up, then it's on to a few yoga poses, a few strength exercises, some step aerobics and some hula hoops. I cool down with the balance games again. I average 45 minutes plus I do a mile and a half walk on my way home each day.

Every little bit helps!

wiginn 02-24-2009 08:51 PM

I finally tried the boxing yesterday - it was fun, but the punching bag told me he knows I can do better next time - so maybe I'm not doing it too well?? LOL. I did break a sweat with it though!

I am a WII Fit addict. Every spare minute I can get on it, I'm there! My kids are saying "mom's gaming 24x7" - now, it's not that bad, but.....it's really only been about 30-45 min each day. :-)

jademarlene 02-24-2009 09:02 PM

I want one, but I can't afford it right now darn it:mad:

wiginn 02-26-2009 10:04 PM

Does the voice in the rhythm boxing remind you of anyone? It seems very familiar to me, but I cannot place it.

Work on your timing for perfect hits. The starburst will be double brightness. They count for double points, and will help you get a higher score :)
1200 will get you 4 stars and the top rating :)

NavyWifeDee 02-26-2009 11:17 PM

Love the Wii Fit.... my kids actually love it too... They have tons of games, but they love the little balance games. So I do most of my time on it while they're at school, and let each of them have 10 mins or so in the evening after homework to play balance games. I just love the Wii in general... I was so against having a game system while the kids are so young, but they love it, and it has been a real incentive to keep rooms clean, etc... and we got enough wiimotes for all 4 of us, so we can even get 4 player games going... The wii sports will give you a workout too, when you're playing tennis or boxing with a 5, 7, or 9 year old.

1200??!! LOL, I've not gotten past 275, I don't think.....so no wonder the trainer is telling me I can do better next time. I did both the beginner and advanced last night (I'm horrible at the advanced, too) and my arms & back are sore today!

fatmad 02-27-2009 07:39 PM

I have one as well. I wish I could track my other exercise on it too. My prob is I hate most exercise. I like yoga and pilates, and do the strength training too, but aerobics is dull for me. I get on my nordictrack and do the "free-run" and can watch tv while I do that, but am finding it dull.
But I find all aerobics dull, no blame to the wii, it helps a bit if anything.

You can track your other activity through the graph icon on the front page. Select your fit credits, click on activity and you can choose between light, normal and hard activity and then enter the number of minutes you spent. Then your graphs will include a gray bar showing your "non-WII Fit" activity.

mnl1010 03-01-2009 09:44 PM

I just bought mine about a week ago and spend about 45-60 minutes on it every day. I absolutely love it. I bought the Jillian Michaels game and omg, what a work out. It took me awhile to figure out how to operate my avatar, but once I did, wow. I highly recommend the game. I like to do 30 mins on the Jillian Michaels game and at least 30 on the wii fit game.

Talina 03-02-2009 09:16 AM

mnl, you're one of the few people that I've heard say positive things about Jillian Michael's game. What do you like about it?

I've been playing wii fit for about a month and a half. I'm trying to add some ddr into the mix, but I'm not always in the mood to play it. When I have played I can go for 2-2 1/2 hours without even noticing the time. I like to play the games and enjoy them. I don't look at the clock or try to figure out how much I've done because that takes the fun out of it for me.

jenne1017 03-02-2009 11:53 PM

OK sorry was away for a bit.

Boxing: I don't recall what I used to unlock it. Oh an make sure you are hitting the bag when the rhythm calls for you to. I can't remember but I love it! Oh here is a cheat sheet that tells you:
http://www.gamespot.com/wii/sports/w...de=unlockables

Running: I had a issue with it and making sure I wasn't running ahead of the Mii. Try that maybe?

Free Step: Bores me. LOL I will be using it tomorrow again though and just watch a good program!

I've not been on it in a week so I must get on it again tomorrow. We went to Vegas and I walked a zillion miles but my sister's wedding is in 2 weeks and I want to tone my arms up again. Maybe a rousing game of bowling or tennis after!

zoochick777 03-03-2009 01:02 AM

I just bought a Wii fit tonight, it should be coming in sometime next week and I can't wait to get started with it! I think it will be an excellent addition to my daily routine.

jenne1017 03-03-2009 01:07 PM

Zoo, you will have so much fun!! I am going to hop on now!

I like that it gives you a reaqlly good workout and that it's a CONTINUOUS workout, unlike the wiii fit, which you have to stop and start. Don't get me wrong the wii fit is so much fun, but with the JM game, you have to really work hard to get your avatar to move, so in turn you're getting a great workout, one that you can FEEL the next day, lol.

wiginn 03-13-2009 03:47 PM

Just checking to see where all the chicks on the WII Fit kick went....are you still doing it? Making any progress?

I am trying to get on it every other day. My coordination is getting better, but some of those yoga poses are still kicking my butt. I cannot do the tree pose very well at all!

Tabby 03-13-2009 04:50 PM

I got a fit right before Christmas now I will be honest I quit using it for about a month but I am back on it daily. I really love it and can't wait till they put out more exercise game for it. I keep hearing mixed results on the jillian michaels game so maybe I will se if I can find it really cheap so if I don't like it then I won't have wasted alot of money.

Vladadog 03-14-2009 04:47 AM

I picked up a wii on craig's list last week and finally tried wii fit tonight.

I loved it! I don't do any other formal exercise but I can tell this will be part of my regular routine.

I got most of the way through tonight before I realized I had the Balance Board backwards. I can't wait to see how much better I do tomorrow night. I still won't be able to do that Yoga Tree though, that's for sure. It'll be quite a while before I master that one.

HannaRyan 03-15-2009 05:36 PM

I got my Wii Fit this week and Wednesday was my first day playing it. I've been on it every day since. Like everyone else I find it a lot of fun.

My lower back doesn't let me play it as much as I'd like but I've been able to make it between 30-45 minutes each day for the last couple of days.

I found these forums by searching for a Wii Fit routine actually. What I'm doing so far:

~ Start with Yoga (I've only got about half the poses unlocked so far)
~Move to Aerobics (Super Hula Hoop, Basic short run, advanced step and I just unlocked the rhythm boxing)
~Then the Balance Games (Ski Slalom is my favorite, Ski Jump, Soccer even though I'm bad at seeing what's coming)
~If my back doesn't hurt too much by then I go back and do a couple of the yoga moves to "cool down".

I haven't done any of the strength moves yet just because I don't have a lot of space to really be able to do them properly. Plus I don't want to do too much too soon and then not be able to do anything. My back is already pretty sore from all the bending the other games give me but I really enjoy it :)

CountingDown 03-15-2009 09:24 PM

Yes. I'm still using it - alternating with the "My Fitness Coach". I pre-ordered "Gold's Gym Cardio Workout" for the wii to give me one more alternative.

I will post a review when it arrives (next month).

grasshoppermf 03-16-2009 10:31 PM

Hi all. I am still going strong on the Wii Fit. I am thinking of getting DDR next and adding that to the mix.

chubby girl 79 03-16-2009 10:45 PM

I've had my wii fit for about a month and a half and I love it - I just wish I had more time to use it! I like the weight tracker option....and cannot wait until the thing no longer tells me I'm obese :)

You can actually track other stuff. It's hard to get to... You have to look at your progress graph. Look at the activity section. There will be an activity log section. There is where you can add other activity. :)

I really enjoy my wii fit! I did find that the cardio just wasn't enough for me. DH got me the Fitness Coach for the cardio. I still do the boxing quite a bit and then the yoga and the strength training. :carrot:

Violet 03-17-2009 07:56 AM

I got a Wii Fit for Christmas but haven't really had the chance to use it yet. It's FUN as anything, but...does it really help with weight loss? It'll pretty much be my only exercise at least for now - I'm agoraphobic and live in a small apartment so my options are quite limited.

tdiprincess 03-17-2009 12:47 PM

Violet: I think it does. It is a good starter to get going and moving around. The strength training is very good and precise. I think it is not one of the most strenuous workouts, but it is still a good one. :)

Lewisempire 03-18-2009 05:11 PM

Hi girls, I have a quick question. Do you have to buy a Wii console? Or do you just have to get the $90 platform thingy??? I am hearing so much about this thing. THanks
