Hi,
I have a question re: Yoga...
I heard someone talking about the "Livingarts Yoga Conditioning for Weight Loss w/Suzanne Deson", and they said the loved it...sorry but I cannot find you original post! So I am posting to everyone!!

My problem is: For the past 5-7 years I have suffered from cronic Plantar Facsiitce (sp?!) and cannot be on my feet for any period of time and I never go with out orthotics or sandals (even in the shower). (I have been seeing podiatrists/specialists and pt during the whole time)

My question is: I want to try Yoga, but am concerned that I will have to be on my feet too long. Could any one please give me some insight on how much time is spent beeing supported by your feet? Or a reccomendation on a yoga tape that is primarily on the floor, with little weight on the feet?

I bought the above noted tape, but not have opened it yet (then I would not be able to return it) - for fear that it would be a lot of standing involved.

I currently ride the stationary bike and do weights for exercise, but would like to have some variety (and conveinience)! (Walking, eliptical machines (which I love!) and the like are out of the question!)

Also, has any one done pilates? I also seen a beginner video (not using a machine at all) and was wondering if any one had feed back on that? (Both as an exercise and if there is a lot of standing or not)

Thanks!
Have a great day!

All the yoga tapes I have are standing and seated exercises. Seems I remember reading that one of the Living Arts series--either the AM or PM--is all seated. I haven't seen that yet.

I got rid of my plantaar faciites with yoga! There are plenty of yoga exercises that exercise the feet.

1. Curl your toes and feet together as if you are making a foot fist. Then, extend your toes out and stetch them (your toes).

2. Pick up a towel with your toes.

3. From your ankle, move your foot up and down, side to side and in circles.

I cannot remember any other of the exercises, but my feet were getting worse and worse until I did these exercises. Now, no pain and I can go on very long walks without any trouble. If you do a search on plantar faciitis on the web, there are more exercises to be found.

Most pilates exercises don't have you on your feet.

Yes Yvonne,

A.M. Yoga may be a go place to start. It is about 90-95% seated poses. You would probably only have to avoid one or two poses.

Hope it works.

Thanks for your feedback! I will try find the Living Arts AM work out and give that a go...and return the other one. I did not realize how large the variety can be with yoga!

Thanks!
