Post ~*~Belly Dance Tips for Beginners~*~

BELLY DANCE TIPS FOR BEGINNERS!!!!:
12/5/08

1. Really spend some quality time streaching and warming up! Feeling loose and warmed up makes it alot easier to do your isolation. I learned the hard way when I did a figure 8 and felt stiffness in my back. My fav forms of warming up, free dancing (put on my fav songs and just cut loose )and crunches (u use alot of abs in belly dance).

2. Learning from a dvd can be a lil overwelming because it can seem like the video is moving faster than you can keep up. But thats why we have a pause button and rewind . At one point last nite i felt like i was tripping over my own feet trying to do the moves as fast as she did. So, I stopped, broke down the moves for one combination, and just practiced that over and over, slowly and at my own speed until I knew I could do it accurately and gracefully. At the end of an hour long practice I may have only learned one new combo, but at least I got it down right

3. Final tip of the day, finish up by free dancing and adding in the new belly dance moves u just picked up. It helps to make them feel natural to you and they will become second nature.

Hope these tips are informational and help u in your journey of belly dance and weight loss :

Thank you for these tips. I've been wanting to begin to learn bellydance for a while now, and now that it's too cold for me to keep my activities outdoors I'm going to do that.

BELLY DANCE TIP FOR 12/6/08
SHIMMY SHIMMY SHIMMY

One of the hardest moves has to be the shimmy, and why is it hard, because keeping up that rhythm at that speed is just plain hard lol.
For your basic egyptian shimmy I suggest starting it out nice and slow in a controlled manner and practicing it over and over, adding speed as u feel able. Before you know it u will be shimming like theres not tomorrow . Now the chu chu shimmy is another story lol But we will save that for another day.

If you have any questions, suggestions or comments please feel free to leave them
