I've been trying to start the c25k for months now. I started it on the TM, but hate watching the clock on there, I get clock-obsessed and it makes me feel like it's taking forever. Really, I'd prefer to run at the track near my house and would like to use a podcast. But I don't have an ipod or mp3 player.
After reading through this thread earlier today, I finally downloaded the podcasts onto my daughter's itunes (she has an ipod, of course!) and burned a CD with week 1 on it (I do still have a walkman-type CD player that I wiped the dust off of & it works!!). I'm READY! I'm FINALLY w1d1 of the c25k!! Yippee!!! Thanks guys for helping to encourage me:carrot: |
Hey everyone- glad you are taking the c25k challenge. My advice is go as slow as you need too. I think the pace c25k sets- 30 minute 5k- is not realistic for even the most fit runners. I just finished w3d2- went better than yesterday- but still challenging- I think I may end up repeating this week, not quite sure I am ready for week 4.
Please check in with your progress- it's nice to hear how everyone is doing Pamela |
I agree. I am not racing anyone but myself, so I try and keep it @4 MPH. I can go up to 5, but that's REALLY pushing myself right now. I have short little legs ya see.:)
Anyhoo, I got Week 2 Day 2 done. I think I may be ready for week 3 next week. We'll see.... Depends on the type of job I end up with. You guys are rocking it!:cp: |
I did it! I did it!
W1D1 was awesome! My form is so much better at the track than it is on the treadmill. I have to keep reminding myself to loosen up, relax my shoulders, but it feels great! Tomorrow, I'll do a 30-minute walk with the dog and look forward to doing W1D2 on Friday! |
WOOOHOOOO! WTG! :cp:

Good for you!!!

Finished week 3 yesterday- I was looking at week 4- a bit initimidating. I may give myself another week at 3.
For the restarters- has anyone done week 4 b4? How was the transition? did you need to take an extra week? Pamela |
OMGsh! My hips are still so sore. I don't want to injure myself by going to fast. I should be doing W1D2 today, but I think I'll give it one more day of stretching them out and do it tomorrow. Maybe I'll do an extra day or 2 of W1!!!

Good point. Maybe I will try it and see how I do. Maybe I will surprise myself. By the end of week3 I was fine with that workout.

I think since I am job hunting (again) and will prolly start working soon, I am changing my GYM & c25k days to Tues, Thurs & Saturday...Unless whatever new job interfers with that, then I'll just figure things out. But anyhoo, I think I am ready to move on to week 3 beginning Tuesday!!!! :)

I am proud to announce the I completed w4d1 today without a problem. Still going slowly, but I finished. I feel pretty proud of myself. I find the jogging part is much more enjoyable than the walking- and I can actually see myself being able to achieve the 5k goal. Yeah me!

WTG girl! :cp: It was very hard to breath yesterday. We had rain & humidity and what not, so it was a struggle... Anywho, I did Week 3, Day 1 and I thought I was gonna DIE! But I did it. Three minutes straight was the longest I have ever run in my entire life! Why is it that the recovery time seems to fly by but the 3 minutes of running felt like forever? I think I'll be doing week 3 a couple of times.... |

But then, that last 5 minute jog is hurting my knee, and I haven't been able to jog the whole last 5 minute jog because I'm afraid if I push through the pain, I'll be out for a week or worse (that's what happened to me in week 1). But so far, it isn't derailing me yet, just messing with me a bit. :o. |
Julie,
I agree- I feel like I get into a groove and walking jars me out of it- then i spend the time walking trying to figure out how far I need to go on the treadmill- making sure I am doing the math right. You would thinks with all this education I could add 25 or 50 in my head without a problem. Are you running outside or on a treadmill? I have not tried to run outside yet because I am concerned about injury. I may try it in the next few week as there is a nature preserve close to my house that would be nice to run on. Diva- good for you- slow down if you have to. My husband say me on the tread mill and said I looked like a real runner-:) |
