I started W8 today - 28 minutes, my god!!

Can't help with the speed as I run outside, but when I figure the distance and take the walking off, I am running about 6 mph.

Wow you ladies are doing awesome!! I have been running/walking since December.. I usually do 5 days a week, and I try to do 20 minutes a day, 1.5 minutes jogging/1 min walking. I'm going to start on W3 today because I can already do W1 and W2! My two best friends are avid runners and one is AMAZING at cross country. I want to be up there with them. Can't wait!

Yesterday was W5D1 (5/3/5/3/5); still going strong. I'm afraid that tomorrow might be my downfall (8/5/8).

It looks like we started at the same time. Friday was suppose to be my 20 min run, but I delayed it by a day and tried my first 5k this morning!! It was a fun run/walk, so I figured I would give it a try - knowing I would go at least 20 min and see how many bonus minutes I could go. I finished the entire run without walking in 35 min and 51 seconds!!! I still can't believe it. I've never, ever been a runner before. On Monday, I'm going back to the scheduled plan and doing week 6 day 1.

congrats shine! I'm doing my first 5k in a month and i would love to run the whole thing. that seems impossible right now but who knows?

CruiseCAT 02-09-2009 04:04 PM

That is so cool Gina, congratulations. For those of us that have NEVER been runners it's a HUGE deal.

I was looking forward to my first 5K here in my town Easter Weekend but I was reading in the paper that it is actually a 10K, I was so bummed. Now I need to find another one to do in April (one of my mini goals).

ran 20 minutes straight today! 1 month to go for the 5k

Hi everyone! I started C25K today and made it through the first day...let me just say this is AWESOME. I love the way running makes me feel! I could easily see myself becoming addicted to running...

I was surprised that I made it through all 8 intervals... by the end of the 5th running interval I wasn't sure I would make it, but all in all it wasn't TOO hard. I am definitely excited to do days 2 and 3 the rest of this week. anyway, I'm looking forward to joining you all and supporting one another... my big goal is to run the Race for the Cure 5k in September. My hubby and I did the 5k walk last year and it was such a cool feeling to be part of something important and bigger than myself, you know? anyway, that's my goal and I'm sticking to it!

That's a very good goal. We have the Hillbilly run here in October. My goal is to do it in 30 minutes or less! I've been such a slacker since Nov, but I bought me some awesome New Balance Running shoes and I am ready to go now! Good Luck everyone!

Anna, congratulations on starting C25K. Just go at your own pace. I have been VERY surprised that I have been able to complete each day; it has been a challenge but I have done it.

Today was Week 8 Day 1 (28 minute run).

Thank you! I finished week 1 on Friday and felt pretty good, save for some minor shin pain. I don't think it's my shoes (had them checked out) so probably just going from ZERO running to running 3x a week has got them a little sore. I'm excited to start Week 2 tomorrow!!

Robsia 02-23-2009 02:41 PM

Anna - there are shin stretches you can do before and after you run - I always stretch my calves, thighs and shins before and after.

I have been on a hiatus as I've not been well for the last week or so. I had just started Week 9 too - I actually manged one 30 minute run but I think I'll have to start back a little less when I am well enough to start again!
