Unhappy low energy- food or TOM?

i have been going running and exercising for 4 weeks (intensivly) but the last two running sessions hav been really lame. I cant go as long as i could the week before, i cant go as hard as i could, and even though i warm up warm down, drink the same amount, eat similar things, my body is really finding the exercise tough.

i do have a lot of stress this week (exams) but i was hoping to get frustration out in exercise, but since i worked out (4 hours ago) all i feel now is exhaution still, even after alot of water! and dinner

im not very regular with TOM, and im kind of hoping that is the answer, that she is on the horizon, but has anyone got any suggestion to a sudden change in my bodies reaction to running? do i need more iron in my diet? more fiber? more water? more protein?
i do have a fairly veg fruit and protein based diet with carbs in cereal (bfast) and as a small side to dinner and a small amoutn at lunch, so they are there, just not alot. could that be it???

anyw ideas are appreciated

Time Of the Month

freethetoys - I'm certainly not an expert, but maybe your body just needs a rest? Are you running everyday? I am also on my 4th week of running, but I completely rest on Thursdays (no exercise at all), and I don't run on Sunday either (though I may do a exercise dvd). Are you getting enough sleep? Prepareing for exams often cuts way into people's sleep time, and your body needs that time to recover from the exercise.

Time of Month. Welcome KLK!!

Well..i must be a complete slacker. I rest after every 2 days of running (at least, hehehe). I gotta get better at having 5 days a week running.

But yeah, sometimes i think after two hard days of running, my body feels really tired. It's hard work doing all that running on our legs.

I also try to eat a banana after i go to the gym to make sure i get enough potasium for my legs. (not that that has anything to do with feeling tired...just thought i would throw that bit in there!!).

I would blame TOM for this one.

It's been my experience that I feel pretty sluggish, and my work-outs seem much harder just before and during my TOM.

After it's gone, I feel like I gain an explosion of energy and stamina again.

just thought i would report back
i woke up with awful abdoman pain today, and i have weird ovaries so went to doctor and i have inflammed ovaries, fun!
so i think the stress of exams, and stress from dieting and exercising alot, and work has clearly put pressure on my sensitive organs inside.
im taking a few days off the diet and the exercise to do my exams, heal, and ill b bak on it monday!

Yikes! I hope you feel better soon.

(And here I was thinking you were just feeling the wonderful monthly side effects of being a woman.)
