Default Best fitness magazines

I did a search for magazines, but nothing came up, so I'm hoping this isn't a redundant thread...

I was wondering if you guys had any recommendations for fitness magazines for women. Good ones, ones that have tips for women about increasing strength gains and exercises for gaining muscle endurance, tips for the right way to eat to increase lean muscle mass, etc. Not the ones full of ads for GNC protein powder and beauty tips. U get what I mean?

I have a subscription to Shape, it's part exercising part beaty. I love their recommendations for everyday products, and their monthly workouts.

Runner's World is another good one if you're into running. Hope that helps!

Well, they're all full of ads...more ads than anything else unfortunately. But all magazines are like that. I really like Oxygen though, that's one of my favorites...Shape is good too.

I vary between Fitness, Shape, and Self. Generally, whatever looks interesting to me the day I'm checking out the mags.... If you have a specific fitness in mind, such as you're a yoga fanatic or pilates, or whatever, I'm sure there is a mag online or in the stands that you can find. Hope this helps! I too am annoyed with all of the ads...mostly I'm interested in exercises and success stories....

They do have lots of ads. I like Muscle and Fitness HERS. But I am going for a definite look of lean muscle and less body fat. Not everyone does that. I don't want a skinny shapeless look.

I subscribe to Fitness and really like it.

I'll also pick up a Shape or Self once in a while. I tend to avoid the more "look at me and all my shiny rippling muscle" magazines.

For the guys out there...

I like FitnessRX for Men (there happens to be a for women also). This magazine takes all the fitness type articles from all the science-type magazines and includes everything here.

I like Men's Health.

Lastly I also subscribe to (in addition to the 2 I just mentioned) is to Prevention magazine. Nice Reader's Digest sized. Too many ads. Geared towards women, but alot of good advice in there regardless of your sex

I'll read ANY health/fitness magazine (I'm a total magazine junkie and get 5 or 6 different ones a month!) I regularly read all the ones mentioned above but my favorite by far is Women's Health. It's a little more straight up HEALTH magazine and a little less "beauty" magazine, they also seem to have more stuff on nutrition than the others, in general I think it has a lot more info.

Good topic! I've had Fitness, Self, Shape, and Women's Health. I've had the most luck with women's health, and every once in a while i'll pick up a shape, but i cancelled that sub because i though they became rather redundant. I like that Women's Health has all of the online info, and they seem to have more info than ads
