be honest: how many people really exercised on turkey day?

Hey guys--

I was just watching a CNN special on America's obesity problem and a thought occurred to me... how many people on 3fatchicks.com actually exercised today on Turkey Day?

Suzanne 3FC 11-23-2007 12:59 AM

:o

mandalinn82 11-23-2007 02:24 AM

I did! Went for a run at 6am after waking up to get the bread punched down and rising again.

pamatga 11-23-2007 02:26 AM

I didn't need to I did every day before that

I didn't need to! I took the day off on purpose. I have exercised every day up to this without fail since mid September. I wanted to focus on getting the meal ready for my DH and I, cleaning our home and then sitting down afterwards and watching some good classic movies and playing board games.

I felt very peaceful about all of it today. We had one meal. I ate until I was full but not stuffed. I did two loads of dishes in the dishwasher and one by hand. I had a couple of cold turkey sandwiches later in the night and that was it.

It doesn't have to be such a struggle if you don't make it one.;)

Shay 11-23-2007 07:31 AM

I did and I am very proud of myself for doing so.

LisaMarie71 11-23-2007 08:07 AM

I did a really nice 3-mile trail run with my brother, even though we really didn't have time. It was fantastic, even though it was raining a little and the trail was muddy.

My real Thanksgiving is tomorrow - that's when we're celebrating - but I plan to get up and run 8 miles in the morning if I can. Woohoo!!

Now if I could only stop EATING so much while I'm at my mom's...

LeedaRenee 11-23-2007 08:24 AM

I did! I ran 2 miles.

Darby1 11-23-2007 08:47 AM

I did! I'm so proud of myself for doing it, too. I started talking myself out of it, but then I told myself if I didn't, I couldn't keep my spa appointment when I go on vacation next month. Apparently threats work! But, I was very glad I did.

BillBlueEyes 11-23-2007 09:00 AM

I did

I did.

Took a brisk 4 mile walk in the morning and a a short 2 mile walk between Thanksgiving dinner and dessert.

midwife 11-23-2007 10:22 AM

I ran a 5K!

CountingDown 11-23-2007 10:41 AM

3 fast miles with Leslie!

MissGiggles 11-23-2007 11:20 AM

I did, I went to the gym and it was crowded. But they closed early for the holiday.

Scenestealer 11-23-2007 11:24 AM

I purposefully signed up for and did a 10K Turkey Trot. If I hadn't done that AND told my friends and family about my plans (thus making a no-show a non-option), I don't think I would have had the motivation to do it on my own. This was my first Turkey Trot but I think I'm going to make it an annual tradition, because it made me stress so much less about what I ate.

chick_in_the_hat 11-23-2007 11:48 AM

I went for a bike ride with DH - it would have been longer if my left pedal didn't poop out on me. Off to the bike shop today to get it fixed. The weather is too beautiful to work out inside right now. :D

fiberlover 11-23-2007 12:24 PM

DH and I went out for a walk on Thanksgiving. Ended up being out for 45 minutes of brisk walking. It was cold LOL!
Felt pretty good to do that.

Shy Moment 11-23-2007 12:42 PM

I did both of my walking vidoes and both sets of firm ups :)

ennay 11-23-2007 02:05 PM

I ran 3.5 in the morning early before starting to cook!

NemesisClaws 11-23-2007 03:22 PM

I didn't do exercise the conventional way, but I did a lot of intensive cleaning on the house, with cooking in between, and a ton of errands. So that in itself was exercise because I kept going and going and going.....lol...

teawithsunshine 11-23-2007 04:44 PM

Great job everybody! :) I did an hour and a half walking marathon on Turkey Day :)

GONNABE165 11-23-2007 04:59 PM

I did a 5 mile walk in the rain with Dh, mom & moms best friend & 20 mins on bowflex

djstorey 11-23-2007 09:11 PM

I did!

I got in 40 minutes on my step using one of my harder workout videos.

almostheaven 11-23-2007 09:19 PM

Besides being on my feet for about 5 hours straight in the kitchen, running up and down the stairs to get things in order before family got here, I got on my Gazelle a bit in the evening after everyone left while watching TV.

GatorgalstuckinGA 11-24-2007 07:50 AM

i did...dh and i did a fast walk with the dog for 2 mile on turkey night...helped digest the meal some LOL

Heather 11-24-2007 07:52 AM

I did! I got the turkey in the oven and went to the gym for 45 min on the elliptical!

kaw 11-24-2007 08:10 AM

Wow, great job, everyone!

I went for about a half hour wog, more jog than walk. Didn't do a darned thing yesterday, though. Hip hurt too much after T-day's wog. :(

Kim

Rowdin 11-25-2007 07:39 PM

17 km on my indoor rower. Unfortunately I kind of made up for it at dinner!

WindyCityChick 11-25-2007 08:52 PM

Yay! Everyone really sounds like they did great on the exercise front. I went for a 10 mile run myself, to counteract at least some small portion of all that wonderful food.

katie3181 11-25-2007 09:32 PM

I went to the gym! I was so glad I did.

And it was probably the most crowded I have ever seen the gym!

vixjean 11-25-2007 09:38 PM

No, I didn't this has been a bad week for me and the excuses have been just too easy to make.

OptimistK 11-29-2007 10:37 PM

I surely did. First thing in the AM. There were lots of ppl there too! Most of the people I spoke with at the gym that morning said they were not cooking, or visiting anyone for heavy food, just treating it as any other day.

BlueToBlue 11-30-2007 03:04 AM

I did! Got up early and went to the gym. Did my regular cardio workout--15 min on the stairs, 15 min abs, 15 min on the treadmill.

baffled111 11-30-2007 10:35 AM

I did too. We went out of town to stay with family, so no gym, but I mapped a run before we went away and I got up on T-day morning (and other mornings) and went running with my dog. It was good. Very virtuous. :)

dixied 11-30-2007 10:48 AM

I did a 5K.

alinnell 11-30-2007 12:22 PM

I did! I ran a 5k Turkey Trot (came in at 37 minutes!). If I had not done the race, I still would have run at least my usual 2 miles because it was a Thursday and that's just my schedule.
