All 261 pounds of me hauled myself onto the treadmill for 30 minutes. It seemed like time was crawling, and I abhorred every single second of it, but I still did it.
I swear, when I got off, I felt drunk. It was almost vertigo-ish. My legs were automatically propelling me across the floor, I almost tripped down the stairs, and there were moments where I was having to fight hard to keep from quitting.
Is it strange that I actually enjoyed it?
On a side-note, my treadmill makes an AWFUL noise! Even when it's just running and no one is on it, it makes this sound like there's dirt trapped between the belt and the...other part. Is there anything I can do it fix it? I shudder to think the motor might be blown, or something else.

Yay for you
and it will get better and easier. I use a stepper and started with 15 minutes every second day.... after a few months I was up to an hour a day.
At the beginning that 15 minutes used to kill me... I'd have to stop and sit down, catch my breath. Now I'm not even out of breath at 15.
I was forcing myself to work through the mild cramping in my calves, but it went away after about a minute and a half and some water.
I think I could actually really do this! It wasn't half as bad as I thought it would be, and it actually gave me some "quiet time", which is more like time to myself with my mp3 player ear-buds shoved into my ears.
The noise seemed to be getting a little better at first, but then towards the end it was right back to where it was before. Maybe I'll drop by a fitness store next week when I'm over close to one and ask what they recommend, aside from spending $3,200 on another one XD
You go girl. If it helps I'm right there with you. I joined one of the challenges and swore I would do AT LEAST 20 minutes a day on the tread. That didn't seem like much so I upped it to 30. The next week I did 31 mins a day. This week I do 32 mins. It's a slow build up but I know if I jump in with too much it will hurt and I won't keep doing it. There's days I really don't want to but I still do it. I know that if I don't get on one day it will be TOO easy to not get on the next day.
I wish I only had to haul 261 lbs onto it. I was 286 today. That's 7.4 lbs less than it was on the first of the month. I'll just keep increasing the minutes as I keep decreasing myself!!
Keep up the good work and know that I'm sweatin' right along with you!

Yup! I found that once I realized I survived it... each time got easier and easier. Well maybe not each time, but week to week I developed a better attitude towards exercise that it was my friend and not my enemy to be loathed.
Mine is a Vision fitness treadmill, not sure of what the exact model on it is. My aunt bought it a few years ago, and I know it was over $3,000 then, so I just know it's supposed to be a good one.
We're actually looking into getting a TreadClimber, and I'm super excited about that!
I just found out a few minutes ago that we are definitely getting a TreadClimber, and I'm seriously excited about that; although I doubt I'm coordinated enough to manage to not kill myself with it.
My step-dad thinks the motor on the treadmill is the problem, combined with the fact that one of the blades to the fan is MIA.
Hello everyone,
This is my first post!
Is your treadmill on carpet? I'm just asking b/c for awhile I had my treadmill straight on top of the carpet and after a year I smelled something burning. Then I consulted the manual and it said it should not be on top of carpeting. So my husband bought a piece of plywood to put underneath it.
I hope that helps!
I don't have a problem with exercising, just reducing my portions and eating sweets.
