Question for those with ellipticals

I jst got a used ProForm elliptical yesterday, the lady said it worked just fine she just got tired of it. I don't have 500 bucks for a new one so I bought this on, it looked practically new.

Anywho DH and I had to take it apart some to get it into our car and we put it all back together in the house but everything works except the resistance.
It's way too hard. I turn the dial thing for the resistance and it doesn't change. Can someone tell which part of the machine isn't working properly.
We're not sure what part needs to be fixed. I really hope that it is fixable otherwise I have this big unusable peice of equipment in my living room and I'm out 120 bucks.
Thanks ladies.

did you try it before you got it?

You can try calling proform and getting it serviced. Although if you look for reviews online, it seems that proform ellipticals seem to be plagued with problems.

Ya I tied it and everything worked fine. I looked at reviews too before I bought it and they seemd to be very mixed they were with everyother ellptical brand I saw reviews for.
It must have something to do with us putting it together wrong, even in the bad reviews I never heard of this problem.
I just wish I knew exactly what part of the machine would need to be fixed.

I agree that reviews about ellipticals are very mixed until you get into the higher price ranges.

Honestly, it is very hard to do an inexpensive good quality elliptical although many manufacturers try. You might just want to call proform and talk to someone about the elliptical, ask how much it would be to get someone to come look at the elliptical. It may only be $50 or $100 bucks to get it working.

I am sure they would but I also wouldn't mention that you aren't the original buyer. Your receipt? Well you must've misplaced it. You aren't asking for warranty coverage, just someone who knows the machines to look at it and get it up and running.
