That's awesome! 17 minutes-woohoo! If I didn't get so winded doing it, I think I could do it for about 10 minutes without it falling. I have some close calls when it starts traveling down towards the butt, but I manage to keep it going and eventually get it back up.

My kids can travel down the street with the hoops- one of these days, I'll try walking with it. For now, I'm just going to stay in my living room and enjoy the coolness of the air conditioning while building up more time. My oldest daughter can do four hoops at a time.

The Skip It's just arrived about 20 minutes ago- hilarious, I just checked the UPS tracker online, and it said they were delivered 10 minutes before I checked the tracker. I have six dogs, and not one barked when the UPS guy arrived- and my Yorkie was outside right next to where he delivered them- she usually barks at a leaf falling! Nice guard dogs we got here.

I tried one out- I'm not use to the ball being attached to a jump rope type thing, and I couldn't do it. The one I had years ago had a pole with the ball attached at the end, so I have no idea how to get this thing going and don't see that I'll be doing so in the near future.

I'm sure your kids will pick them up and have no trouble. I think I could do the Skip It when I was a kid but wouldn't even try it now.

Your dogs sound like mine, my 13 year old Pek-A-Poo does not even now when I get home anymore. Hearing and eyesight both bad. I can't belive none of yours barked.

Hiya! I'm from the UK and I want to start hooping, but I am having difficulty finding the resources. DVD's to Hoops.

I'm willing to make my own hoops, including the decorating. I'm quite creative.

I'm a type one diabetic and I have a busted knee, so I need low impact exercise to help me lose weight. I want to tone my core and lose my tummy!

Can anyone help me?

Casandra there are many DVD's to be purchased online, I'll try to locate some of them and get back to you. I'm sure most of them will do international shipping. There are directions for makein weighted hula hoops, some even with video's, just google "weighted hula hoops". I'm headed to the hardware store to buy the irragation tubing and tape to make mine, as soon as I get off work tonight.

They seem to really know what they're doing, but its so expensive to have their stuff shipped to me! They quoted me at $25 just to ship a single dvd! I have found a wonderful hoopstress named Sharna Rose for the UK, she really pushes people to get into making their own hoops but readily supplies your first hoop if you arent confident enough, but want to get things going!

I am supposed to start a new job soon and the Office Manager seemed really interested in hooping as well when I explained it to her, so I might form a little club at work, so we can all lose weight without having the embarrassment of the gym! I cant wait!

Any other help/tips/advice you can offer me would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!!

I made my hoop a few nights ago. The hardware store where I could buy the tubing by the foot only had 100 psi. I wish it was a little heavier, it has some flex to it and even though I put water in it it is not as heavy as the ones I use at Curves, but it works great. I've hooped for at least 15 minutes every evening this week, in addition to 15 minutes every morning at Curves. I'm loving it. It will be interesting to take measurements again at Curves.

Cassandra, have a great time hooping with your work group. That will be fun and great exercise too.

I've gotten in touch with a lady here in the UK who makes hoops. She's said she'd be honored to make my first hoop and that because I'm so poor right now, she's willing to send it to me and have me pay later.

I really want to get into this not only for my physical health, but my spiritual health as well. This woman is so nice and she's very helpful. Once I start my job, I'll be able to pay her and I'll also have money to buy the parts for my own hoop-making adventure! ^_^

Well, I received my hoop today, and when I tried it, I kept it up for 75 rotations! I've still not gotten used to really moving around with it yet, but I'm getting better!

I'm glad this arrived before i started work, this way I can get a head start! I still havent found anything online with tips and tricks on how to hoop, and I wont be able to afford the dvd's probably until christmas.

Hopefully, I'll come across something. My plan now is just to hoop to music for at least 30mins everyday.

Is your hoop weighted? I have a weighted hoop but it hurts my belly not so much from working out but from the actual hoop.

My hoop is made with heavy tubing, I would guess it weighs no more than 3lbs though.

Probably just 2lbs or 1.5lbs. I have so many bruises from just 2 hours of hooping spread throughout the past 5 days. Its so much fun though, and even though it hurts to hoop again after the bruises show up, the pain goes away after 5 minutes or so.

Hi all! I've read this thread with great interest in the last few weeks. I was at Target earlier today and they had their fitness hoop on clearance, so I bought one. I've gotten maybe three rotations out of it so far - I think I am moving too fast... It seems very, I dunno, floppy. Hopefully its just my clumsiness and I'll get used to it.

It doesn't say the weight on it anywhere, but I'd guess a lb or two. Dear dog thinks I've gone nuts and I cannot wait for DH's reaction to it this evening. Anyway, I am rambling, I know. I'm just very excited to give this a try!

Any ways, I was wondering if you could use the toy hula hoops rather then the heavy ones.
