Had a great 9.15k run this morning only the second one this week and it felt awesome... After my run I hopped on my bike and did 17k... It's going to be a good day :sunny:
|
Rest day - but I'm going fishing tonight, and that always works my arms.
|
Rest day for me, too. But I took my dog on a 30 minute walk and bought a bike at a yard sale along the way! I haven't owned a bike since I was a kid. Very exciting! I'm waitressing tonight--that always burns a few calories.

Does coughing up ones lungs count as exercise? LOL! Hopefully I can get back on the exercise track next week, the Wonderful dude of my life passed on some sort of flu-like bug, isn't he sweet? sigh....

20 min walk last night
20 min walk this morning 15 min walk this afternoon. 190/300 |
I might still decide to go to the gym today, but I wanted to try something different--riding my new bike! I managed 30 minutes before my dog looked like she was about to collapse into a big, slobbery heap, so I only burned 191 cals (and only half of those 'in zone').
I feel absolutely terrible now though--I got home and my dog's feet are completely torn up and bloody. I am a horrible, horrible dog owner. I thought that bike riding was a form of exercise I could do with her, but I have INJURED her. Now I know, I guess.... |

Oh no, baffled! Poor puppy, and poor you! I know you'll take great care of her, though, and she'll be fine in no time.
I skipped the gym yesterday, but cleaned out a closet and did a lot of lifting of heavy things. 30 minutes on the elliptical today (first time ever without a break after 15 minutes!) and 30 minutes in the sauna. |
30 minutes in the sauna sounds like just the kind of exercise I need today* :) But congrats on the 30 minutes straight! That must feel fantastic!
We've bandaged up my dog's feet and she's sleeping it off a little bit. Poor thing was hobbling around like a broken race horse. I feel really terrible. 3 of her pads are almost completely ripped off. Ouch. *My Y has a rigid class structure where only people who pay an extra $20 a month to use the special changing rooms get to use the sauna or whirlpool. Meanwhile, I'm at the gym 5 days a week with aching muscles and no way to relieve them... It's tragic, and, I suggest, unjust! |
60 min bike ride, 23k...
|
25 min spinning
10 min elliptical yesterday: 21 min spinning 10 min elliptical |

32 mins treadmill (300 cals).
Oh Heart Rate Monitor, how do I love thee? Let me count the ways... I actually ran today for 30 straight minutes (lifetime record!) with the help of my HRM and the "Heart Rate Control" setting on the treadmill. It had me running the entire time, and, after the first few minutes, much more slowly than I usually run. I think keeping my heart rate steady at 155 enables me to do more intensive cardio overall than running for a few minutes and getting my HR above 160 and then walking for a few minutes and letting it drop to 140. And plus, I *ran* for 30 straight minutes!!! (Although I did drop to a walk a couple of times so that I could grab a quick slug from my water bottle.) Hooray! My HRM is the coolest toy ever. :) |
So, my regular gym time today got interrupted by an unexpected invite to go out to dinner with family. No problem - figured I'd just go on my lunch. Well, lunch rolled around and an emergency meeting got scheduled...fine, but now i wouldn't have time to go all the way out to the gym, so I'd have to make do at the apartment gym...it has a stairclimber, again, no problem. Walk over there, and it is inexplicably locked...someone I guess locked it with a key, but management doesn't HAVE a key, so they are quite confused.
At this point, some inner part of me (we'll call her lazy fat amanda) started making noise like "well, this is a sign". Normally, I would have used today as my a rest day, but I'm donating blood tomorrow and don't always get out there in the morning before my appointment, so I wanted to reserve that for tomorrow if I needed it. So I went -back- to my apartment and did a couple of ondemand videos. Was it the most challenging cardio I've ever done? No. But it was 60 minutes and my heart was pumping, so I'm calling it a victory. |
50 min cardio.
270 /300 |
