I finished Week 5, Day 1 of C25K today:
0.5 mi jog (5.2) 0.25 mi walk (4.2) 0.5 mi jog 0.25 mi walk 0.5 mi jog I am so proud of myself, but getting anxious for Days 2 and 3. Especially the 2-mile jog on Day 3 (Monday for me)! YIKES!! |
lets see, 4 on tuesday, 4 on wednesday
told physical therapist I did 6 (really 6.25) on saturday and he winced and said to keep it there, no more than 6 for 4 weeks. is it bad that I lied and said ok? :o I already am planning a 7+ for saturday. I'm being good by not ramping my weekly by more than 10% therapists...sheesh! what part of "I am running that half on mother's day come **** or high water" do they not get? |
I did a 5k run on the treadmill tonight -- ran it in 36:30, which was good for me, I guess, especially since I kind of hate the dreadmill. I was sweating like a freak. It felt pretty good, though! Resting tomorrow, and doing the big 6-mile group run Saturday. The 10k race is only 2 weeks away!

2 miles. Ain't what it used to be, but it is another step back.
|
poppins good for you!
I am a week behind you in C25K and I was just looking at the program before getting on here and thinking the same thing! Everytime I think that, I try to tell myself, "that is what you said about jogging three minutes at a time, and 5 minutes at a time and look what you are doing!" so we can do this! |
Ennay - I keep on wanting to say NOO about your half as mothers day here is on Sunday but I guess your mothers day is some other time. I'm assuming so anyway, unless you make a really good comeback ;)
I did 40 minutes on the treadmill this morning. I did it a bit slower than my normal treadmill sessions because I have a race tomorrow. |
Good Morning Runners,
I am a bit crabby right now because as I am heading out the door this morning my husband says. You can only go out for 25 minutes this morning i have to be out the door at 7:30. I knew he had an early meeting but I thought i had til 7:45 and that extra 15 minutes really makes all the difference. It put me in a weird mood and I decided to repeatedly run up the steep part of my hill. That part was actually pretty good since my uphill running is beginning to resemble a slow jog rather than some sort of strange slow motion walking. (I always think that I am running but time starts to dilate since I am travelling so close to the speed of light). Anyhow it was a strange day and really not all that bad. I feel a bit better upon reflection. I would have liked to get in 3 miles. I think I got in just over 2. Hard to say since I ran it all strange. Our mothers day is in May. This weekend I will take a long run. I think I will try to run for an hour. A half marathon seems so incredibly long. I think that is just a great way to spend mothers day. Great job on all the newbie runners, the returning runners and of course all of you running animals. |
today was C25K W4w3! the last one- and it was really easy. beautiful weather too- big gray clouds with a wonderful cool breeze- i think that makes it easier, when I am starting to slow down, a nice cool breeze gives me the last little kick that i need to finish strong. ah, i love good running days.
i am nervous about week five though! this time next week i have to try to run twnty minutes without stopping! OMG! |
pixie, you can do it! No problem! :)
Today my training team had our longest group run, 6 miles. I was very comfortable through the whole run -- my breathing was never really labored (I talked through the whole run, even hills), but my hips and knees were hurting a bit. Finished in 72 minutes, so a slow, comfortable 12-minute mile throughout. I'm ready for the race! Woohoo! |
lol Helen, our Mothers day is May 12th or 13th - I have JUST enough time to ramp up sensibly to run it but not race it. I want to race one in June
7 today at a nice pace Felt really really strong. |
Today was supposed to be 2 miles with the jogging stroller, but it ended up being about 2.5 when the 'throw the hat' repeats got added in. It was also hot (80F)and I'm seriously glycogen depleted because I'm sticking to my diet for once. Anyway, I walked about half of it. On paper it sounds like an awful run, but it was a pretty morning and it was good to get out and I enjoyed it.

Ran 5 miles today in 56 min and 47 sec. That's a Personal Record for me!!!! I didn't feel like I was pushing it though. However, 3 days ago it took me 58 min to finish the 5 miles. I am just so grateful that I can run. 4 weeks ago 5 miles seemed like such a hurdle and now I am running it consistently. I am trying to make 5 miles my base miles (before it was 3 miles).
Ennay, take it easy on the running. Do you think you can tell the therapist that you are planning to run the half marathon in May and that you want him/her to come up with a schedule that accomodates that? |
Wow you ladies are doing awesome, congratulations.
I really enjoy running. I only run 5k per day. Rai, how did you go to 5miles. Did you just add a bit each day? Lisa Congratulations on your 6 mile run. Way to go. |
rai - I am doing my own schedule. I've been doing it long enough now to do that. Therapists are just very very conservative. He would say absolutely do not do the half marathon. His idea of a good schedule was 6 miles max for 4 weeks, (actually he wanted me to stick to 4 miles for 4 weeks) then increase it 1 mile for 4 more weeks, etc. At that rate I would be up to a half marathon by 2008 maybe. My injury came more from speedwork than from distance anyway.
Anyway, yesterday I realized that the 7 didnt even feel like a long run. The rest of the day I was trying to figure out how to get a run in today (dh is gone). So that's good. |
Ennay - I'm doing a half that weekend too. OK, I'm doing a half most weekends at the moment... I hope that you manage to build your training up and make it.
Well done Lisa and rai on your runs. Yesterday I did a 20 mile race. It was VERY hilly - you can see the race elevation profile here, that hill between 4 and 6 miles was just as bad as it looks on the graph (the report isn't mine, but it saves me posting the race profile on my own blog - my longer report is here). I will admit to walking some of it, as I didn't want to use all my energy up too early in the race, and I ended up overtaking most of the people who ran (shuffled?) past me on the way up later in the race. I finished in 3:03 which I was really pleased with, as it would give me roughly an hour to do the last 10k of the marathon, which would be on a considerably flatter course, to get a time around 4 hours which I'd be really pleased with. My legs even feel good today, my arms are more sore after a spot of white water rafting on the way home! And bizarrely my 20 mile PB is less than twice my 10 mile PB - I've only done one of each, and I did the 20 miler at a faster pace than the 10 miler! |
