not much... but i did run

I ran a mile tonight. I've actually got to move up because I know I can run over 2 without stopping now, but I love the feeling that the mile is getting easier for me.. I have a 5k next week. WTG everyone that's been doing couch to 5k. My daughter wants to start running now, and that's what I'm thinking of doing for her. Hope everyone has a great weekend, with lots of good runs.

I'm just popping in to give you guys a quick note about my first race, but I can give a full report when I'm rested tomorrow! I ran the 10k in 1:12, which is MUCH better than I thought I would do. I took no walk breaks, and I kept a good consistent pace the whole time. Woohoo! I know I'm slow, but for me that was pretty good. :)

1:12 is really good for a first 10k, well done!

Thanks for teh link...
I guess I jsut need to give up the idea of passing this time and jsut follow this program..Although I think I could do a little better than teh 1st week..Is there a problem with starting at week 3 or 4?

Yay LisaMarie, that is an awesome time! I was actually thinking about you yesterday when I was on my morning run. There was a 50k (ack!) run going on along the lakefront in Chicago where I run, for those who think the marathon is just not long enough. Seeing the race numbers made me think that you were probably running your race at about the same time. Can't wait to read your full race report.

This morning, I ran 10 miles. So I've been telling myself that I'll sign up for a half marathon when I hit 10 miles. Went to the website a few minutes ago, but for some reason, I just can't bring myself to register. I think I'm having residual "I'm not really a runner" feelings that I just need to get over. Thought I'd come here for a little encouragement.

Silverose, I'll just give you my two cents, but only you can decide if your level of fitness is appropriate to skip weeks. You definitely want to build up your endurance gradually - the fastest way to injure yourself is to do too much too soon. So, even though you want to jump start things sooner, be careful about pushing too much too fast. That said, if you are already in reasonable shape, skipping ahead a week or so may be appropriate.
