I use a Polar F6 heart rate monitor in the water, and I love it. I've been doing aquafit with it, and it really allows me to see how many calories I'm burning, and it automatically makes little graphs to show calorie burn, time in heart rate zone, number of exercises, etc.
I also like how I can upload the info to my computer. (polarpersonaltrainer.com) and it's free to use forever. Not some subscription I have to pay for every month.
It has a strap that goes around your chest that monitors continuously so that you have a really accurate reading.
The only thing I don't like about it is that the wristband is fading / changing colour over time. I only had it a few weeks before I noticed the change. Also, it's gotten rather scratched up, even though I'm not really that rough on my stuff. Still works fine though, so that's good.
Also possibly negative - if the batteries need changing, I was told you have to send it in to Polar by mail so that they will change them, and make sure the waterproof seal is intact. I have no idea how much that will cost.
