Weight Loss Cure by Kevin Trudeau
OK, so I'm flippin through the channels since there doesn't seem to be anything on and I come across this infomercial with this Kevin Trudeau cat selling his book "The Weight Loss Cure"
He's all like "I lost 45 pounds in 45 days and it stays off no matter what I eat", and of course it sounds too good to be true...which usually means it's NOT true. But, just the same I'm curious about what the heck he's doing that made him lose weight but I don't want to spend $14.95 for his book because I could probably put those funds to better use elsewhere. So, has anyone looked into this guy's deal to see if there is any potential to whatever is in his book? Like, what is actually in the book? Does anyone know? |
We reviewed it here recently, maybe that will help :)
But in a nutshell, it's a 500 calorie per day starvation diet, followed in combination with hcg injections which you'll likely have to leave the country to receive because it's not FDA approved for weight loss. Save your money :) |
On the other hand, I was just reading that the primary focus is eating whole foods and keeping your plumbing clean...which is correct.
But, I don't need to buy his book to understand that. Tanx! |
This guy is snake oil salesman and has been in prison for his scams. You can get all the info you need at this site as well as several others and it won't cost you a cent.
|
I concur with Bargoo... with this guy, everything is a "conspiracy"... Don't waste your time or money on anything this guy sells or endorses.
|
Ok, I will admit, guilty as charged. I bought the book. What a waste of money! I bought it, not knowing who he was or his past criminal record.
First of all, all the "cleansings" you have to do before you even attempt to go on a strict diet is costly and not to mention, timely. I don't know about you, but I don't have a whole weekend to dedicate to a liver cleanse, then another weekend for another cleanse and so on. Oh, and then there's the expensive "supplements" you have to buy, on top of doing the cleanses. I'm trying to figure out how he had time to lose 40 pounds by the time he bought all this stuff, did the cleanses, took the supplements, went for massages (yes, you have to go for massages to clean out toxins!) and a whole lot of other crap that just isn't feasible cost and time wise. Then there's the diet. Well, if you look around this website, you can find whole foods diets for FREE on here and not waste your time and money reading the book. Not to mention, you'll be on your way to losing weight much quicker at a much lower cost, if you catch my drift. ;) |
Complete Crap!

What about foods that aren't totally bad, would those be "Incomplete Crap" http://bestsmileys.com/lol/4.gif |
ha!:D
|
Sorry, sometimes I can't help myself from attempting occasional humor, however bad it may be.
|
thanks for the advice, I was really looking for input about this book, just shows the old saying " sounds too good to be true, it probably isn't".
I will keep up the food journal and workouts, that I do know works...and add more water that I know I need to do anyway...thanks for all the imput. |

What a crock of @#$%! I hate seeing his stupid chubby face (I don't believe he lost 45 lbs!) and want to throw something at the screen. He tries so hard to look sincere that it's sickening.
|
I find him extremely annoying also. I leave the TV on all night for sound and light and he seems to be always on with some nonsense or other and the latest one is this weight loss book
|
yes i hear some of the things are weird. trudeau is bad but the ideas are good only because he took them from another doctor by the name of
dr. simeons. doctors do precribe the hcg shots if they are aware of the benefits. europe use these shots on a daily basis. if you look up hcg shot you get people who do the shots and recommend them. Dr.simeons work is on internet for free. i am planning on doing the shots, for about $300 and no more dieting, its good. |
Some of the things he suggests in his book are healthy, along the lines of what Dr. Oz suggests. Others are, admittedly, quite extreme and not possible (or probably healthy) for the average person.
|
He is now under investigation by the FTC based on the claims in this book. http://www.ftc.gov/opa/2007/09/trudeau.shtm
|
His claims are most certainly outrageous. The thing that is so insidiously horrible about his approach, is that he cloaks many half-truths, lies and twisted statements in blankets of truth, making himself appear almost credible at times. Scary! :(
|
I know this post is a few weeks old but I'm very concerned I went to the Dr today an internal specialist I've been seeing for years and she is now following this treatment protocol and doing the hcg shots and massages at her clinics. And says it works really well and people are losing weight with it. It sounds so unhealthy though. I did read the review on it but haven't looked at the book. Doesn't he also want you to get colonics?
|
Yes, he wants you to get colonics and follow a whole slew of weird rules. I'm shocked your doctor is doing this since it is not approved by the FDA in the US and she could lose her license with one phone call
Furthermore, I read about a study not too long ago that compared the hcg treatment/diet with just diet and it was interesting. The hcg shots are given along with a 500 calorie diet, which of course is shocking. The study compared it to just going on the 500 calorie diet without the hcg shots and the weight loss was the same. |
Thanks Suzanne I figured the shots were not some miracle or we would all be having them and they would be fda approved. I'm thinking I might just eat the whole foods lifestyle and stop worrying about all these crazy diets. I appreciate your post!
|
How did this guy get so popular?
|
I guess some women like him and buy his story.
|
i bought the "stuff" but have not tried it??
|
Most of what he says is simply common sense things such as eat a balanced organic diet, exercise, drink lots of good clean liquids (filtered water, organic juices, etc), get plenty of rest, and so forth.
No need to buy his book to learn about these things |
CRAZY. I just found this thread, but while speed reading this book I was thinking... we all of us on this site are wrong, because he has the "magic" answer! He criticizes other diet books, then does what they all do - claims to have the miracle cure for weight loss. Thank goodness I didn't buy this book, I got it from the libarary. Are people this naive? Someone had highlighted parts of the book that were quite scary. Some "ideas" are sound but most is crazy, crazy...
|
ehh, the whole world is going crazy.
What else is new??? |
Kevin Trudeau has been in prison for his scams. There is a lot of info on him on the internet.

Could have happened to anybody! |
Yeah, right!
|
No really!
It happens all the time, especially to polyticians ;) |
:( What I had read in a documentary is that Kevin Trudeau always states that "what the government/doctors/lawyers" or someone doesn't want you to know and that is a sales pitch. :?:
and I quote: Kevin Mark Trudeau (born February 6, 1963) is an American author, pocket billiards promoter (founder of the International Pool Tour), salesman, convicted felon and self-proclaimed alternative medicine advocate. He is known for a number of television infomercials promoting his products, and for several books, including Natural Cures "They" Don't Want You to Know About. Trudeau has criminal convictions in the early 1990s for fraud and larceny. The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has sued him numerous times. A federal order currently restricts his ability to promote and sell any product or service. However, he is permitted to promote books and other publications due to free-speech protection under the First Amendment as long as they are not used to promote or sell products or services and do not contain misrepresentations.[1][2] On November 19, 2007, a court found Trudeau in contempt of that court order for making deceptive claims in his book The Weight Loss Cure 'They' Don't Want You to Know About. |
Funny thing is...due to industry's desire to sell you as much stuff as possible, and the government's desire to tax you and keep you as dependant upon them as possible...
There actually IS alot of things "they" don't want you to know. Kevin's not the only one out there making money telling you things "they" would rather you didn't know. Kevin's problem is he's not smart enough to run a business on the smart side of the law. Apparently, he just has to cross the line into that which is illegal. |
Yes, the diet is not Trudeau's plan. Dr. Simeons founded this plan many years ago. I have been through two fazes of the diet. I haven't bought everything that Trudau suggested. However, I did find less expensive cleanses, which helped tremendously. The most beneficial thing I've I've started doing is eating organically and eating for my bloodtype. I was eating a lot of foods that were difficult to digest, which caused more weight gain and toxic buildup in my body.

What would they have for dinner??? |
I did a search on him. It's an interesting read. Whoever said he's a snake oil salesman has insulted all the snake oil salemen. He's worse than that.
I do have a question. Back in the 70s clinics were popping up all over giving shots of pregnant women's urine. I think that is what the hcg shots are. Is anybody still doing that? I personally feel that anybody will lose weight on 500 cal/day. Of course, they will lose their life if they do it too long. |

Yes, I saw an infomercial just the other day about this. Thier theme song was..."pee on me, oh want you pee on me" :carrot: Yes, it was quite catchy! |
YUCK!
:lol3: |

but I thought to myself..."eh, piss on it" ;) |
You are sooooo bad!
 |
