Fibromyalgia #162
Mima - glad you made it to Florida. Hope the airconditioning gets fixed. Me, I am thinking about heat lol.
Joanne - kids! Sometimes you want to just shake some sense into them. Hope your son comes round, as he will be the big loser in the long run. It is hard to live with guilt and he might have some if something should happen to either of his parents. Meme - the office sounds great. Just what you need. I wouldn't want strange men in my house either. You just can't trust anybody these days. You are busy. I bet the kids stole the show. Tammy - nice you had a visit with your son. He isn't that far away, so you can go see him. Chris - I don't think my house has ever been like it is now. It is hard for me to work and keep up with the housework, so I chose work, as I enjoy getting out doing stuff. I like housework, but energy seems sparse at times and pain is always present. Well, I am off to work, and I had better get going as it is getting late. It is a beautiful day here today. It is -2, or 28F. The air is soft and warm. Cold is all relevant to where you live. A gal at work has a daughter than just moved to Norman Wells, up near the Arctic Circle. It had been 45 below zero and she was saying how beautiful and warm the day was, when it was 25 below zero!!!! I can identify with that, as after 30 below, 15 below feels like a heatwave. I will open my windows when I get from work and air the place out. Have a good day. |
Hey There
I wish I could get my son to come around so I could try to find out what the problem is...I will keep praying. Hope you guys will too. My heart is broken.
Thanks for the new start Happy.. Not much time this am,I'm really stressed. Back later...Joanne |
I grew up in Northern New York and thought that was cold enough. I can't imagine the temps in Canada. I would be hurting all the time. I don't know who you all do it up there. It is what everyone around here calls cold....38 today. DH and I don't call that cold (he is from Michigan and I lived there before moving here). I stay in as much as I can when it is cold. If I get out in the cold it makes me hurt more.
|
Meme, I'm sure the angel costumes will be beautiful! At WW, I don't feel like I'm depriving myself. If I want something, I have it. Of course the pounds aren't tumbling right off of me, but it took a while to get them there in the first place.
Mima, I'm on dial-up too. We are talking about moving to something faster. We'll need to discuss that when hubby gets home from Florida. We have to renew what we have in January, so we need to find something else soon. It is about 28 here today. I wasn't wearing my winter coat, and some lady made a comment about it. I didn't even know her! I had on a long sleeved shirt and a sweatshirt jacket. I was comfortable. It's not like I'm standing outside in the weather. Oh well. I will admit that I ache more when it is cold outside. My perm stinks, but the hair looks better. I went to the storage unit and picked up a couple more boxes to go through. One has games, and the other one is books and records. I am very capable of putting books on shelves, so that one will be easy. Need to find a spot for the games. Maybe under the hutch. |
I,m happy about your knees, Meme. And I'm happy about Happy starting a new thread!!!!
And I'm happy I am getting cable for my computer-and the phone too. Can call anywhere anytime-again as soon as it's installed. they have the seasonal for 60 all the time you are gone-was paying 30 for the phone whe we are not here. The cost for the new air is adding up-if Brad could get a couple of small jobs-it would help pay for it-going to spread the word. Gotta be careful-he's not licensed for down here, At least we have the heat off at home-it was 17. Art class today!!!! Bye Mima |
That is alot of material! Do you pay for this yourself? Yikes! Glad you were able to get the tree up and had a little help. I can't find my Christmas cards. I know I have several boxes, so they should be easy to find. Nope, they are not. With the medicine working, maybe that will help you get everything accomplished. Want to share?? lol I think I overdid it yesterday, and I'm paying for it this morning. I hurt but I know that I have to go to school. I'm going to work in a rest break sometime during the day.
Mima, enjoy your art class! |
Loved the art class-we take a break and have tea-time. Love that instructor-she brought us circles to make a Santa Claus pin.
Stomache was better yesterday.I weeded-allergies but it looks so much better, This monstrosity is sitting in my hallway-it's the new system without a cover!!!!I ordered the cable phone and computer cable-going nuts here!!!! Wow for the angel costumes. D wants me to get something online for Christmas-finally found a coat at Burlington coat factory. Need shirts for Brad. I think gift cert would be better-we have that store here. Get to stay home today!!! Hi everyone Mima |
Hey There
Hello Everybody- Just about got my shopping done..:carrot: I am giving some gift cards too.Next I have to clean my carpet and put up Christmas tree and lights..Lots of work...I finished the quilt for my daughter, Now I can get back to other things I have started.I am going to make some bead ear rings for my daughter.
Mima- Eleni takes a couple art classes too. She had a showing this past weekend. Pin and ink and some pastels. Tammy- I lost a lot of weight at WW.. It was slow but that is better.Keep going ,you will reach your goal before you know it.. Meme- G/children are such a blessing. I wish I had more. That is not likely to happen. My G/son is 27 and going to be a electrician. He said he would put up my lights. The only catch is he won't be here till Christmas day.:p That won't work for me.I will just have to do my best.. Happy- I told my daughter the same thing.. I know my son would feel the pain a long time if something happened to a family member.I'll just keep asking God to help..We are supposed to get cooler weather this week.I won't say cold. Compared to you it is just cooler. I may go out and shop a little more today. It depends on if I get to it before the hubby starts to sleep:D Joanne |
Mima, glad you enjoyed your art class. I ordered Bob a new coat from Land's End. I bought one a couple years ago for myself, and I love it. Did you enjoy staying at home today?
Joanne, I'm sure the quilt is beautiful! Your daughter is very lucky. Tonight at the WW meeting there weren't many people there. The leader got us started on some different topics, and we broke into small groups and just talked. We usually are there for the meeting for 30 minutes, but we just kept talking. It was nice to compare notes and what strategies we use to work through obstacles that we have. The leader let us go as long as we wanted. She joined in on one of the groups. My goal is a long way off. That's one thing we talked about. WW has a goal for people, but a doctor can have a different goal. In my mind, I would like to lose 50 more pounds from where I am right now. That would be where I was when Bob and I got married. I ran across a picture from when we were dating, and I really looked good. And that weight was 15-20 above what WW would like me to be. It is 10 degrees right now. No wonder the dog didn't want to go outside! I wouldn't want to either!! I know I am up too late again, and I'm going to regret this in the morning. Maybe we'll have a cold delay for school!! (Well, we've had fog delays, so why not a cold one????) |
Hi.
Mima - glad you had a good art class and enjoyed it. You will soon LOVE that air conditioner lol Tammy - It is only going be 24F overnight and tomorrow 42 above. It was around 30 today and it was a beautiful day. Cold is all relevant to where you live. Hope you sleep well. Joanne - Glad you are getting your Christmas shopping done. I still have a couple to buy, but one will wait until the weekend of the 16-17. I need to buy a gift certificate for a store in Edmonton. I have an idea of what we are going to get our gson. Meme - Hope you are not all wrapped up in all that fabric:carrot: I finally am going to get down to 3 days a week - Mon, Wed and Fri. That will be plenty for me. I stopped at a drugstore that specializes in supports and found one for the Thorax area. I have been wearing it tonight, and I think it is going to be ok. Anything to keep this pain away. I don't do so well with meds, so I have to try other things. I think I now have a support for every part of my body lol Hope you all have a good day. |
HAHAHA ... you guys are so funny ... but the yoke's on you this time. I went to church last night and found out that another woman is making four angel costumes for the kids Christmas play Sunday night AFTER our Cantata and they will all fit the girls that are singing in the Cantata ... some are going on the same girls even. I was sooooo excited. And another woman found 3 young men to be my '3 kings' and they even already had 3 beautiful king crowns all made up of material with stones sewn in them. I was ecstatic! GOD IS GOOD!!! This has saved me so much time and money. Son and DIL had asked me to keep the kids Sat. evening for a few hours while they go to a Chirstmas party and I was dreading it because I have so much to do. Now I can take them to see Santa Claus 3 and not feel guilty about it!
Don't feel quite as good today ... had a bad night. Guess that's because of the snow. They closed schools here at 1 today. Our deck was covered but the roads were fine. Everybody panics when we get a little snow here (and my bones hurt). It's really cold tonight and supposed to be cold tomorrow. Hubby is off and wants to go do our Christmas shopping! :shocksn: The drops the Eye Dr. gave me caused my eyes to turn really red. He said nearly a month ago that would go away in a couple of weeks ... it hasn't and now there are broken blood vessels on the bottom of my upper lids as well. I called today and made an app. to go back in tomorrow for him to have a look. May have to change to something else but I looked on the net today and all of them have some kind of bad side effects. :( Other alternative is surgery. Hubby is wanting me to go to a different Dr. - MD/eye surgeon I went to back years ago when I had a torn retina. I probably will make an appointment next week. The one I'm going to now is just an optometrist. Guess I need someone a bit more professional and knowledgable for something as important as my sight, huh? I can identify with just about everything you guys have said. I need to clean carpets ... I put a brace on my ankle before I go to bed at night, one on my wrist before I play piano and I have one for my knee, too! I desparately need to shop ... and I seriously wish I could just buy gift certificates for everybody and be done with it! Also, I've talked (and talked) about taking some classes ... but can't find the time. There is one starting in town but it starts THIS month! I'd love to do it ... cake decortaing ... but not this month. That's the one I've really been wanting to do. I'm not bad now but I'd like to be better. I could save so much by doing my own. Oh, yes, and my dog hates the cold, too. We put her in the garage again tonight. She stands outside the livingroom window and barks until we bring her in! ;) (I can't imagine having to go outside to pee tonight!!!) We are all so much alike. Wouldn't we have fun if we lived close together? I really feel like I've known you all forever. And, actually, some of you I have 'known' for years! Wish me luck shopping tomorrow. I have a very long list ... & with my memory I'll sure have to 'check it twice' - probably three or four times! :hohoho: |
Good morning-can't sleep past 4 am-back to hubby waking me up all night,
back to other room!!! Thought I had cheap tickets for my kids to come down but I think it was one way. Suzanne said it was too good to be true and she was right!!! My stomache is not good, Think I need a prescription!!! I put some lights up outside. And a nativity-small but with lights. It will have to do!!!No tree yet-the dust mites on it will start my allergies so I am waiting, We have heat-might need a little. This is a big project. Bye for now Mima-thrilled about your costumes Meme |
It's about 20 degrees right now, and tomorrow it should hit 30! Heatwave! lol
Anne, I think you'll feel much better doing the 3 days a week. I know that I do. On weeks that I can't be there one of those days, I've tried to make it up on Tues. or Thurs. I am not going to do that anymore. I found out that it is just too much. Since the cold bothers me, I'm hurting even taking a day off in between the days I work. I think I'm pretty much finished with shopping too. I know I need to get something else for Tim, but I really am not sure what yet. Meme, that is terrific that you'll be able to use those costumes!! And as you said, God is Good!! I'd like to go see that movie too. Could I tag along? I do think you need to go to a specialist for your eyes. PLEASE??? Cake decorating would be fun for you! A friend of mine does that, and I've watched her in action. Very impressive. I have thought so many times of how much fun we would have if we could get together! Good luck on the shopping, and don't forget to buy things for all of us!!!!!!!!!!!! Mima, I have some lights that I was going to put up outside, but it has just been too cold this week. Probably won't get put up this year. We have two small nativities. Just the right size for this house. Tonight I wrapped presents and baked some cookies. I'm going to give cookies to all of the neighbors on our street. They are mainly older people. I hope they all like cookies. I've also been listening to some of my old records. What fun! Memories. Seals and Crofts, Earth Wind and Fire, Carpenters, Beatles. I had planned to do the wrapping and baking tomorrow, but I decided to get it done tonight. Not sure what I'll do tomorrow now. Possibly straighten things up since Bob will be home on Sunday. |
Guess I'll be doing my shopping another day ... alone preferrably.
I bought Garrett a magic kit and 2 magic DVDs and that's as far as I got. He's 11 and into the magic card and coin tricks. I had an app. with the optometrist at 2 and he said I had an infection from the drops he gave me. He gave me drops for the infection to use 4 times a day until Mon. night then gave me more drops for the glaucoma to start using Mon night. Hubby has been after me all week to go to another Dr. so I had decided I'd do that. He jumped me as soon as I came out from my app. before we went shopping. Said, I thought you were going to call and make an app. I told him I was just going to go by the Drs. office because I was sure I'd have to sign something so he could get the xrays sent over from the optometrists office. Then he started in on me because I hadn't told the optometrist I was taking prednisone. I told him yesterday I had read on the internet that was one of the worst meds. you could take when you have glaucoma ... and I also told him I took my last pill yesterday so I was getting off them so there was no use talking to the optometrist about it. He just kept on and on and on until I finally got so upset I just couldn't think. After we left the place where I got Garrett's magic things he asked me where I wanted to go next and I told him to just take me home because I couldn't think where I wanted to go or what I was going to do. I came home and went to bed for 3 hrs. I don't know why he thinks he has to dictate everything I say and do. It wouldn't even be so bad if he'd just drop it and not keep yammering on at me. Why bring up something like that when I'm not taking those pills anymore??? He always says he's sorry and then a few days later it happens all over again. So ... moral of the story is ... I've wasted a day and I still have all my Christmas shopping to do. |
Just lost my post.
Meme-Men are from mars-they think they have to fix things, PTL-a $4 script for my stomache from Walmart!!!! A 23 dollar raise from SS to replace 2 of my zero earning years.I fought for that. Suzanne got a plane ticket to come to FL for Chritmas. I don't have my shopping done and I have to mail 2 packages. We have heat. Pray for my stomache to be better. Glad you and Anne work less, tammy. Mima |
Meme, I'm sure Garrett will love the magic gifts you bought for him. He should have lots of fun showing his tricks to family and friends. I agree with Mima about men being from Mars. Just can't figure them out sometimes.
Mima, that is great about the $4. I had heard that WM was doing that. Glad Suzanne will be with you at Christmas. Hope you are feeling better soon. I'm glad that I did the wrapping and the baking last night. I'm hurting this morning, so I took some medicine and I think I might just curl up and go back to sleep. Hope you all have a great weekend!! |
Hey Meme - BONUS on the costumes! Less work at this time of year, is ALWAYS a PLUS. Hope you feel better soon. My goodness, it just keeps on and on for you. Too many health issues. The magic things sound like fun , and I am sure he will enjoy them. I find it far easier and faster to go Christmas shopping by myself as well. Hubby doesn't like to SHOP.
Mima - hope whatever you found for your tummy works. Glad you daughter is coming for Christmas. Now, you live in Florida. What on earth would you need HEAT for??? Air, maybe. Tammy - hope you feel better as the day goes on. Did you head back to bed? Joanne - Well, did you get up your lights and Christmas stuff yet? I know you were going to clean your carpet first. Chris - the weather in New York would be humid. Here, in the prairies, it is dry. Makes a HUGE difference. It is the humidity that causes me great pain, NOT the cold. In fact, when it is -30, I feel pretty darn good. Just don't want to stay outside too long, as exposed skin freezes quite quickly. I won't be starting my new hours until the New Year. I need to know about Christmas days off, so I told her I would work until the end of December on this schedule. The upper back support I bought is great. I worked all day yesterday and ended up with only minimal pain instead of the intense pain I usually had - and NO pain killers. Our baby Meela, fell out of her Exersaucer on Tuesday and ended up with a broken collar bone. It is a Fisher Price and it should never have tipped like that. She was reaching for something, and over it went. If it doesn't heal correctly, she will need surgery. Poor little Babe. Having company for dinner tonight. I believe I will cook a roast beef, lot of veggies, some potatoes for those that want them. For dessert, I will have fresh brownies, with ice cream and a drizzle of chocolate syrup (this I can't have for sure). I have to cook a "plain meal" but one that is good. I can't have any sauces or stuff yet. Another 3 weeks of this yeast treatment. The fatigue and the brain fog seem to have left me, and for that, alone, I am more than thankful. In fact, I haven't felt this good, for a very long time. Everybody have a good day. |
Anne, I ended up taking 2 or 3 naps today. I'm pitiful!! I did go to the store tonight and bought a roast. I have a roast, carrots, and onions in the crock pot to put on in the morning to have for supper when Bob gets home tomorrow. Can't wait to see him!! I'm glad that the back support helped you. The injections that I had have stopped working, and the pain is back in the lower back. Maybe I should look for some kind of support thing.
Poor Meela!! Keep us posted on how she is doing. I hope Fisher Price is notified about this. That's scary! It sounds like your new way of eating has done wonders for you! I'm so glad that you are feeling better. |
Tammy, I love roast cooked in the crockpot. Cooked two in the over tonight and I was disappointed as I am used to it coming out of the crockpot and it is soooo tender.
I don't mind a night alone, but I don't really like to be alone all that much, unless I'm sick. Then I just don't want to be bothered, but I am glad to have hubby around. Miss him when he is gone. The Facet Joint Injections usally lasted at tops 2 weeks, and then one day I would wake up and ALL the pain would be back. I went through 4 rounds of them plus and Epidural and NOTHING worked. I did by a Sacril brace and that worked wonders - took the pressure off the poor muscles. If you get one, just wear it for a couple of hours at a time and then take it off. I told the kids to contact Fischer Price and tell them what happened, because it would be terrible if some other little baby had a worse accident. The Dr. was concerned about the bump on her head as well, and was watching for a concussion, but she was ok that way. She will be 7 months on the 21Dec. I have been bombarded with yeast since I had all those Facet Injections. The Dermatologist told me that Cortisone make yeast grow like crazy, so that is where it came from. Never had much of a problem with it before. That is why I went to the Naturopath and on to the Candida Diet. A lot of the FM pain has also gone, but mostly the fatigue and the fibrofog has cleared. Most people that have FM have yeast in the blood. I just read an article on that. It was interesting. Even if you don't have a vaginal yeast infection, it can be systemic. I will try find that article and post it. It is a good read. Well dinner tonight turned out really good. Did some pototaes the Danish way. Boil small potatoes and then put butter and sugar in a frying pan until carmalized and then just roll the potatoes around until coated. These are sooo good and it is something I don't make much. Also dessert was great. Fresh brown, with chocolate syrup drizzled on it, and then a scoop of vanilla ice cream with carmel syrup drizzled on it. Yummy! I even broke down and had some. First goodie in a couple of months. I am now down 20 pounds!!!! I AM determined!! as long as my body allows me to keep losing. It been years since I was able to lose anything. The Naturopath has cleared my system and now things are working ok. She has me on a thyroid medication (homopathic) and it is working. It stimulates the thyroid to work on it's own. Sorry about the novel, but I guess I had lots to say:D |
Here's the article on the yeast and FM
Candidiasis - Yeast Infection and Nutritional Repair by Mark J. Pellegrino, MD ImmuneSupport.com 12-06-2006 Causes, Symptoms, Testing, Natural Antiyeast and Probiotic Strategies, the Fibromyalgia Diet, and Trigger Avoidance Reproduced with permission from Chapter 25 of Dr. Pellegrino’s book, Fibromyalgia: Up Close and Personal.* What would you say if I told you we had millions of Dr. Jekyll's living in our bodies, each waiting for the opportune time to turn into Mr. Hyde? Would you think I’m nuts or would you think I’m an expert? (“He’s losing it,” says a reader from Michigan.) We all have little round whitish organisms in our body known as Candida albicans that can lose their innocence and become rather vicious creatures that attack our Fibromyalgia bodies and make us feel worse. Candida albicans is fungus or yeast that normally thrives in the mouth, gastrointestinal tract, vagina, and skin. In healthy individuals this yeast is helpful in digestion and vitamin production, and it is harmless because it is kept in check by beneficial bacteria and other yeast such as Lactobacillus acidophilus that occupies the same space. When the balance of intestinal bacteria and yeast is altered, or your immune system becomes compromised, the Candida can overgrow, transforming from a benign yeast into an aggressive fungus that releases numerous toxins and can cause many symptoms. When fungal growth exceeds the body’s ability to control it, the friendly Candida becomes unfriendly and cause a yeast infection. CAUSES OF CANDIDA Various causes of Candidiasis (Candida infection) include: Chronic illnesses or stress. For example, diabetic patients, hospitalized patients, and cancer patients all have low resistance to infection. Antibiotic use. This destroys normal bacteria and Lactobacillus acidophilus, but spares the Candida. Birth control pills. The estrogen favors Candida multiplication. Cortisone medicine Immunosuppressive drugs Pregnancy. Hormonal changes favor increased Candida growth. Diets high in sugar and carbohydrates. Candida loves glucose! Thyroid medicine. Increases Candida risk. Warm moist areas. Tight nylons, wet diapers, people who work as dish washers; all this can lead to Candida dermatitis. Alcohol. Another food for the Candida. Those with Fibromyalgia often have multiple risk factors, particularly the altered immune system, the chronic stress, and the carbohydrate sensitivity. Throw in the woman (I don’t mean actually throw her!) who is on birth control pills, thyroid medicine, and recently took a course of antibiotics for bronchitis, and you have a recipe for “Candisaster!” When Candida albicans transforms into an invasive fungal state, it produces rhizoids which are long root-like structures. Rhizoids can penetrate the intestinal walls and leave microscopic holes that allow toxins, undigested food particles, bacteria and yeast to enter the blood stream. This “invasion” leads to many symptoms. CANDIDIASIS SYMPTOMS Bloating Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) Chronic heartburn Oral thrush (white spots on the mouth and tongue) Vaginal yeast infection Skin rashes Skin itching Vulvar pain and itching Rectal itching Fatigue Irritability Fibrofog Food cravings (especially carbohydrates) Malnutition (poor nutrient absorption) Food allergies Depression Bad breath As you can see there is much overlap of Candidiasis symptoms with Fibromyalgia symptoms. These two conditions “feed” into each other where the Fibromyalgia makes one have more problems with the Candidiasis and the Candidiasis causes symptoms that can aggravate the Fibromyalgia. If I suspect Candidiasis, I will treat it separately from the Fibromyalgia because this often leads to much improvement of Fibromyalgia symptoms as well as correcting the Candida Problem. TESTING FOR CANDIDA A simple home test for Candidiasis can be performed. Dr. Kelly Hannigan described a test you can take (Health Points 8 (2) 2003). Before you go to sleep at night set a clear glass of water next to your bed. When you wake up in the morning (before you clear your throat, swallow or speak), deposit your saliva into the glass of water. If within 30 minutes your saliva sinks to the bottom or there are strands of saliva running down into the water or the water turns cloudy, you probably have an abundance of yeast in your body. Lab testing can be done for a definitive diagnosis of Candidiasis. Saliva, stool and blood samples can all be tested to look for specific immunoglobulin antibodies against Candida. These tests are not routinely covered by insurance companies so the patient has to pay for these tests, which are usually several hundred dollars. Since intestinal Candidiasis is so common and easily identified with careful history of symptoms, and since treatments are low-risk and well-tolerated, I will usually treat Candidiasis based on the clinical exam (history and physical) and not always order a specific yeast test. CANDIDIASIS TREATMENT The strategies for treating Candidiasis are focused on rebalancing the intestinal bacteria and yeast. Candida that has overgrown needs to be killed and suppressed. The “good” yeast and bacterial needs to be replenished, and the gastrointestinal tract needs to be rebalanced. Here are some strategies used to rebalance the intestinal tract. Antiyeast Products: Prescribed Medicines Prescribed medicines to treat Candida include Nystatin (mycostatin) and Fluconazole (Diflucan). Nystatin is available in tablet and liquid form. The liquid form is used to treat oral thrush (“swish and swallow”). The tablet forms are used for intestinal Candidiasis and they are usually well tolerated, although some people have some nausea or diarrhea with them. Patients may need to be on this medicine for several months and some of them need to be on maintenance dose for long-term Candida management. Nystatin kills off Candida, but does not harm the Lactobacillus or bacteria. Fluconazole is another antifungal medicine that is given to treat Candidiasis. Sometimes one tablet or two tablets only are used to treat a vaginal yeast infection. However, a vaginal yeast infection or recurring vaginal yeast infections in women are a sign of more widespread Candidiasis; the vaginal yeast infection is actually the “tip of the iceberg.” In treating intestinal or more widespread Candidiasis, Diflucan may need to be used for weeks instead of days. --- |
Anne--Sorry to hear you are dealing with yeast. I didn't realize cortisone could bring it on.
I had a cortisone shot this morning :tantrum: I had hurt my elbow in June when we bowled about 3 games a day for 11 straight days (state tournament, make up for league play while we were at state and then regular league play). Then to top it off, the power steering went out on my van. I was told then that I had tendonitis. Makes sense. Some days it hurts and others it doesn't. Well Thursday night while bowling I started hurting a lot. So off to the doctor's I go (thank goodness for weekend urgent care hours at my doc's office. I was told I had my choice....oral cortisone that would take a while to work and tear up my tummy in the process or an inject. Well tummy is already tore up so I said I would take the shot in the elbow. NOPE, he said elbow is tricky and he isn't an orthopedic doc so I would get the shot in the hip. Surprisingly the elbow feels great tonight. He left it up to me as to when I bowled again. I think I could bowl tomorrow but DH said NOPE...no bowling for at least a week. :tantrum: Guess I will wait. The youth bowling league had their Christmas party today. I was so busy I didn't even get a chance to eat.....thank goodness it was mostly junk. At 1 I dropped from exhaustion and eat some turkey. Then DH wanted us to go to the movies. We saw Uncommpained Minors. It was a really cute movie. I headed off to bed early but can't sleep...guess I am overtired. Hope every one is staying warm...have a great day. |
Good to hear from you Chris. I can see why you have tendonitis. I get symptoms from painting. There are areas where my doc won't give me shots. said it would cause more problems.
Finances got even better when I saw $461 in my checking acct from SS-back pay for the 2 years that they owed me!!!!!! I do feel better even yhough stomache is not 100%, I take 2-3 naps after a hard day the day before-then I feel great. Got my tree up-brought too many decorations with me. Should have gone through that box.It looks fairly good-love those lights. Evan put a box of blueberries in a bowl of Chex mix and mixed it with a spatula. He was "cooking" like his daddy. Mike was not pleased. How awful about you gd, Anne, She is the same age as Keith, Hope she heals quickly. She doesn't even know what happened to her. Sure miss my church back home-I know one person at my church down here. But lots of people at Brad's church, Bye for now Mima |
Mima Glad you got the decorations up. Larry put ours up Thanksgiving. Now I am sick on them and want them down already. I knew it was just a matter of time and I would depressed over the holidays and it has hit already.
I now have 2 weigh in days. Sunday is the at home wi...incase I stop doing meetings and one on Monday for the meetings. Today at home I am down 3 pounds for a grand total of 37 pounds. 37 pounds forever gone. Still have a mountain to climb but I am deteremined to make it happen. |
HEAR!HEAR!Chris. I am right with you. It is GOING to happen. I am down 20 pounds now since the end of September. It seems like it is slow going, but at least it IS going. Congrats on that weightloss.
I haven't got my tree up yet. Don't do that until mid December, probably next weekend. I take it down the day after New years or if I am not doing anything, New Year's Day. That is long enough for me. |
Anne you are doing well with the weight loss as well. I have to agree it is going slow. But I gained 100 pounds in 6 years and if it takes 6 years to get it off (plus 40-50 more) I am ok with it....as long as the scales are moving downwards.
|
Anne, the roast was great. I agree that it is always more tender coming from the crockpot. Would I be able to find a brace for my back at WalMart? I've never really looked for one. Those potatoes that you made sound good! 20 pounds off is great. Good for you!! The article about the yeast is interesting!
Chris, glad the elbow is feeling better. I agree with hubby about no bowling for a week. I'll be climbing that weigh-loss mountain with you girl!! I have a long way to go also. I do a Mon. weigh in at home and report to a group of friends on that one. I then do the regular WW weigh in on Thursday morning or evening, depending on which meeting I attend. Mima, glad you got the tree up! I cut back on ornaments when I was sorting things for the auction. I'm like you with taking naps after a hard day. I think I need one now. lol It is good to have Bob home. He enjoyed the roast and the trimmings, and he ate too much. He said he was ready for a home-cooked meal after all the restaurants during the past week. He did eat at relative's homes for dinner a few times, but the rest was at restaurants. I hope all of you have had a nice weekend. It was almost 50 degrees today! After 8 degrees the other morning, this really was a heat wave!! |
Tammy, I didn't listen to hubby. I bowled tonight and I am pleased to say my arm is fine and I had one of my better nights bowling. I am sooo please. I should have had a shot of cortisone months ago.

Still take it easy, Chris,All of you-great weight losses.
I am happy to say my best friend is losing weight, she is down 10 pounds. She goes to doc's office and won't look at the scale til she gets down under 200. At church, we had the President of the Seminary of Liberty University-he was so funny but at the same time serious, A converted Muslim. Chris-find a charity to give to-that might help to turn things around. We had a giving tree at church-how about the Salvation Army or Toys for Tots. Christmas giving is about kids. Gotta shop online now. Mima Then to beall's outlet-15% off for seniors on Monday. Mima |
Thank, Mima. I am trying to take it easy with my arm...but it feels so good I forget it hurts and do too much.
I have tried doing things for charity at Christmas time. I don't have much in the way of money to give and when I volunteer I get more depressed. So that doesn't work. I will be ok.....2 weeks from today and it will be almost over. |
Hey There
Hello Everybody- The shopping is almost done. Just have to get the groceries for Christmas dinner. Got to bag/wrap everything. Tree and lights up, Didn't put up as many this year. Some went bad and anyhow at nearly 74 ,in march, I didn't think I needed to be climbing up and down a ladder to do it. Hubby just can't.Ofcourse my G/mother painted her house ,outside ,when she was older than me.
I am still chasing dust, But that is a daily job. I bought my virus protection. Now I just have to put it on... I shopped all day today.. Now ,I am tired. Hubby trying to go to sleep before 6pm. I asked him if he was ready for the nursing home.. I worked in them for 20 years. The patients were put to bed about that time. I try to keep him awake till at least 8 so he will sleep most of the night. THEN ,I might get some sleep. He snores like a train or is up and down all night. The golden years are RUSTY. Sounds like most of us are keeping well. Lets keep it up. Joanne |
Chris, glad you bowled great!! Don't overdo it though.
I took a load of things to Toys for Tots the other day. Games, books, crayons, pencils, and on and on. Some of the stuff was Tim's that was in excellent shape. The rest was brand new that I had left from my classroom last year. Joanne, I would be tired too if I shopped all day! I think your hubby and I are related. lol I did go to water aerobics tonight, so I had to stay awake. We leave near some train tracks, so I'd be used to the noise. I hate to say it, but I'm either getting a cold or my sinus infection is back. Decided to take Nyquil tonight since I don't go to school tomorrow. |
darn-lost my post again.
Now I will have to recap-good for you, Joanne. I am right behind you but have to finish up for my son so I can mail it. Glad you are feeling ok Chris. Saw the Nativity last night-very good-makes everything real. Our good friends from here had to go to Missouri because SIL had a heart attack and now he died-45. Wife has MS. Sad, sad, sad. And we can't even go there to express our sympathies. Bye for now-Mima |
Got my last Choir practice in last night. They sounded pretty good. I cooked chili, spaghetti cassarole, cheese plate, 30+ brownies and choc. cake for them. Practice went from 6 to 8:30 so I told them I would bring food and we'd take a break. I told them that was their Christmas present! :p The kids are getting strep ... ... Jenna has it and daughter thinks she is getting it. I was with them all Sun. night. Just my luck to have that by the weekend!
I still have so much to do. Still have about half my presents to buy and all the baking to do. Guess I'll leave the baking until next week. Hoping to get the shopping done this week and maybe the weekend. DIL just handed me 2 tickets to hear oldest grandson play the trumpet in a play at the Drama Center Friday night ... so there's another night shot. OH NO ... I just remembered we have a Ladies meeting that night that I can't possibly miss because it's our Chirstmas meeting and I'm supposed to take a gift and food. I need to be cloned. She just gave me those about 30 minutes ago and I didn't even think about the Ladies meeting. Oh WOE is me. (I'll blame it on the Fibro!) ;) Mima ... the Nativity didn't look like it would be very good to me. I thought about going to see it but then saw that it got a bad rating. We took the kids to see Santa Clause 3. It was pretty good but I thought the ending was pretty lame. I want to see the new James Bond movie. Critics and fans both gave it an A. I don't think he is as good looking as the previous James Bonds. I also want to see Charlotte's Web. I'll tell you a movie you need to watch before it goes off if you haven't already ... Happy Feet. That's one of the best little movies I've seen. Well, hubby is home ... gotta go. Everything ceases! HA :p |
Mima, that is so sad about your friends. I'd like to go see the Nativity.
Meme, your meal for the choir sounds delicious!! My son and his girlfriend went to see the new James Bond film, and they said it was very good. I think I"d like to see Happy Feet. |
I would like to see happy Feet.I don't always go by ratings because I love movies. Get something out of all of them except if they have a lot of cussing or are raunchy.
meme-it;s not the fibro-it.s the schedule. I am having trouble with gifts because I don't know what to get. Amazon has free shipping over 25$ til the 15th, Got my son the Redneck dictionary-it;s only 6.99 and a cookbook. I also got him Bob's cookie jar at Whatonearthcatalog.com and I have a pkg to send. That's good. Brad's sugar is high-he;s been eating way too many carbs. So now he's being good. Got my cards written and mailed!!!!!!!!! I guess I am doing ok. Art today!!! Mima We have been uo since 3 and 3:37 respectively. Cable phone and modem come today!!!! |
Good morning.
Mima - I would love to see Happy Feet as well. Maybe between Christmas and New Years, Ashley and I will go see it. Too bad about Brad's blood sugar. I am sure it is a never ending job just to keep it even. It is such a balance between carbs/fats etc. Have fun at your art class. Meme - Sorry to hear that Strep Throat is going around. I just hope you keep it way down south. I sure don't want it. Anybody who breathes on me who has strep throat is going to pass it to me, for sure. It is just so painful. Sounds like the kids in your choir lucked out with food. I need to go shopping this afternoon and finish up. Just a few stocking stuffers left to buy and one gift certificate that I will get this weekend when we go to Edmonton. Tammy - I never did care for James Bond movies, only James Bond lol. I liked Sean Connery, but the best of all was Brosman. I remember one of the first times I saw him, was way back in Remington Steel. Such a cutie. Chris - I am sorry you are having a tough time with the season. Did you ever get that light you need for SAD? Take baby steps and think of only one thing to be thankful for each day. Doesn't have to have anything to do with Christmas. The world can be beautiful or ugly, depending on your outlook. Hope you can find the beauty and make your heart less heavy. ((((((( ))))))) Joanne - No, I don't think you should be climbing up on ladders!!! My Mom was really agile up into her late 70's and early 80's. She moved liked a teenybopper! Everybody is different. I seem to have been born stiff:D I am going to get my haircut this morning and then going to a Christmas lunch at work. It is potluck so I am making something called Mexican Taters and beans. It is really quite good. Then, after that, I am going to visit a friend before they leave for Arizona tomorrow. Also, I am going to finish my shopping and do my Christmas cards. Seems they get later every year. I am still working 4 days aweek until the New Year, then I will switch to 3 days. Little Meela is doing good. Poor little babe. She is now off painkillers and is off to the Dr. today. Hope you all have a good day. |
Thanks, Anne. Yes, I have my light. Can't tell if it is helping or not. Just trying to take it one moment at a time.
|
Mima, I saw that Redneck dictionary, and I think I might go back and get it either for hubby or son. They would both enjoy it. bob's sugar has been high, and he isn't watching. Scares me.
Anne, we've had so much strep throat and pink eye at school. I keep trying to stay away from everyone. I agree about liking James bond!! Recipe for the Mexican taters and beans???? I still don't have my cards done. Glad to hear Meela is doing ok. So scary. Last night of aerobics for this session was tonight. Afterwards we did our ritual of going out for pizza afterwards. We had a great time. Next session begins Jan. 3. Chris, I hope the light is working for you!! |
Tammy
I can't say right now if the light is helping or not. I am extermely depressed right now. This holiday season is really getting to me. |
I am fortunate that I have good memories of Christmas-it's the rest of the year that wasn't so good!! hA!!!
Cable co. came and said they would have to come back on Friday because Brad needed to move the cable. Then he called back to say he needed to finish up the job yesterday. Fortunately Brad had already moved the wire and just needed to drill a hole and he did and now I have a fast internet connection and I can call anywhere in the US and Canada-Awesome!!! Hair appt today. Art was fun as usual. My pic is coming out good, It;s a farm scene with a red barn. Here's a group hug for you Chris. I think the med for my stomache hurts my stomache! ha!! Going to a boat parade on Suday night but the awesome Christmas pageant is tomorrow night. We go to Mike;s and get the van to take Alison. She loves that show, even though she is not into the religious stuff. We are trying to influence her gently. Bye for now Mima |
