Default Synthroid before meals....do you follow this?

I started out taking my Synthroid just like the instructions say, 30 mins before meal or 3 hours after meal. I followed it by the book for my first 3 months, then after that, waiting became a pain.
It would be morning, and I slept in late and only had enough time to grab the pill and food at the same time. So my thyroid just came back normal at the last checkup for the first time, but loosing the weight has not...in fact I've gained alot.
But don't know if I should get back on the schedule of taking the pill 30 mins before meal or not. I mean, it must be working since my thyroid is normal. Do you think it would help me lose weight more?
Do any of you cheat on the rules of taking Synthroid?

I take Unithroid, which is also a synthetic T4. My instructions say to take it an HOUR before a meal... I take it first thing in the morning and try and wait the full 60 minutes because it is absorbed better on an empty stomach. Your synthroid will help you lose weight when it is at the right level, but it is not a sure thing. My levels are low normal, but I still have a very hard time losing weight.

Its actually 1 hour before or 2-3 hours after a meal. Eating it with food makes it less effective. Do you exercise? Its really mandatory for those of us with thyroid conditions. Also, weight doesn't disappear when the dosage is correct, a good food plan like SB or WW Core will help with that.
