Thanks for starting the new thread. Can't believe we've talked so much!
Sounds like Tim is getting settled. I'm glad he is at least going to be able to play even though it's not exactly what he wanted. It would have broken his heart if he had been left out this year.
Sounds like the boyfriend might be a keeper. I want to know what those questions were, too! Hmmm ...
I like quiet birthdays, too. I've already told my family that I don't want a bash next year. I'll be 60 and I've told both them and our friends they'd better not do anything hinky. I may just run away for a week in May.
Well, the wedding was good. Like Anne, it was good to 'catch up' with everyone. They totally over-did everything. Talk about a bash, it was THE EVENT of the year for the whole area. The church was packed, even the balcony and there were people standing in the back up there. They rented the town hall for the reception and it was nearly full. They served a full meal and had fountains, etc. They even had a choc. fountain for fruit. Huge round tables with cloth covers, candles, roses and appetizers in the middle. The whole place was full of red and white roses ... the church as well as the town hall. The cake was even covered in them. I don't know how many I threw away after it was over ... I stayed and helped my cousin clean up. All the brides maids bouquets were made of them along with all the corsages (including mine). And there wasn't just ONE ... each corsage had at least four rosebuds. The bride's dress was gorgeors ... slight problem ... one of her brides maids was helping her put it on and got the zipper stuck. She had a skirt and bodice type. The bodice zipped and then laced in the back. She looked at me with panic in her eyes and mouthed 'help'. I went over and whispered "what did you do"? She got one of the hanger ribbons stuck in the zipper. I worked on that thing for nearly 10 minutes before I finally got it undone. When I finally got it off of her, the ribbon went all the way down through the zipper head and out the bottom. I had to cut it off and pull it through before I could get it back on her and zip it up. I thought she was going to cry. I told her it was just an unnecessary thing and not to worry about it ... I then just cut off the one on the other side, too and threw them away. Then she was walking through the hall and there evidently was some yellow glue or something on the tile ... she got a spot of it on the lace on her train. Bless her heart ... I thought she was going to have a heart attack. I once again, said ... don't panic ... I'll be right back. I ran upstairs and got a Tide Stick out of my purse. It took me awhile but I got it out. Well ... then ... right in the middle of the wedding ... luckily - I was sitting up in the front of the church in the corner. Long story! Hubby was stuck in a little room by the stage running the sound equipment and couldn't see anything so they asked me to sit there so I could tell him when to play each song as the people were coming in, etc. She had a different song picked out for seating certain people and for the bridesmaids and for rolling out the carpet and everything. He had 14 songs to play and couldn't see what was going on plus he had to play for me to sing. Since I had to be up there to sing anyway ... they put me up there to help him. Well, when it came time for them to light the unity candle, her best friend was singing a song ... guess what? The candle wouldn't light. She looked over at me, once again about to cry and mouthed, it won't light. I whispered back, try scraping it with your nails. She tried that and said, it still won't light. I said, yes it will. I jumped up and ran in that little room and yelled at hubby ... give me your pocket knife. I think I scared him to death. He jerked it out. I ran back out and up on the stage and started digging. I dug the wick out of the wax, finally ... was beginning to think there wasn't one ... and they lit their candle. She grabbed me when it was over and hugged me. She said, you saved my wedding. The preacher said he thought he was going to crack up when he looked around to see what was taking so long and saw the wax flying all over everywhere. I was determined that candle was going to light for her! You asked what I wore to the rehearsal, black. It's always good for any occasion. A black and white paisley skirt with a black top and black sandals. Then, yesterday morning I sang at my Aunt's church and we left there and drove straight back home because we had a business meeting at our church at six. Barely made it back for that. By the time I got in bed last night I was exhausted. Partly from no sleep and physical work & partly just from nerves. I don't know how people who travel all the time do it. I guess I'm just a homebody. I think I could just stay here forever and be happy.
