Thanks Meme....

Too little sleep and too much work the past few days so now I am paying with lots of pain...gotta get it under control, DS will be home tomorrow late and Sunday is DH's family thing (gotta get a bunch of baked stuff sacked up 14 gift boxes of goodies!).......gonna get below 0 here so I will not be going out!

Candicej 12-18-2004 03:33 AM

:) :D :o :sball2: :sman: :merry: :snf: :sball:

Just trying these out!

Mima 12-18-2004 06:21 AM

That's cute Candice. Well, I have had the runaround with insurance. Went to 3 places to get treated for a UTI and finally went to the emergency room and had to pay $50. I had blood in my urine so I was not imagining things. Found out how my nsurance works and it's not too bad but now I know how people feel when they are rejected by clinics. i have an HMO and seems not too many honor it in FL. Well. I got the prescription and am waiting to feel better and that's why I have back pain. I did manage to pick out my shiatsu massage mat. It just sounded so good-kneeding motion. saw my grandkids last night-Evan would really like to take off my glasses. 4 days til 2 kids get here and hope we hear about house soon. Stay calm everyone and have fun at your party, Candice. Mima

MemeToo 12-18-2004 02:00 PM

Mima ... should really try the Alka Seltzer. And everyone else. At the first sign of an infection ... start drinking those things ... several a day! They have been proven to work. The earlier you catch it the better they work.

Mima 12-19-2004 06:51 AM

Never heard of that!!!Feeling better but getting pains-probably the med. Mima

Joanne D 12-19-2004 10:53 AM

Hey There

Never heard of using Alka Seltzer either.. I will try next time I get a uti.. I haven't had one in years..
Yesterday was my hubbies B/D.. I did not do so good with my eating.. Today is another day.. I did walk 3 miles yesterday..To the beach.. It was more of a challenge than the T/M.I have to lose 3 lbs before the 30th of Dec.
Tammy- Come on ! You can do it.. You are much younger than me. I will be 72 in March..Start at 15 min. then work up..Find a support group like Weight Watchers and/or Tops. I used both..I am still trying to stay on the WW 123 system.. I didn't care for the newer ones. I go to a group meeting at Tops every week. I know as a teacher your life is full. But, Do this for yourself and no one else.. You are the important one..
Mima- Maybe ,when you start staying down here for 6 months ,you can get a insurance that will work for you..I know that ours won't work if we leave the state for more than 3 months..
Candice- O degrees!! We think it is cold at 40 degrees.. I baked some cookies yesterday. Yes ,I ate some too. That is how I got in trouble.. Hubby wants pies for Christmas..Dinner will be Fela( stuffed grape leaves) Ham and salad..Just family..Just half the people I thought was coming..I am not a bit sad about it.. my table fits 8 just fine..Got a big table in a small room...
Hello everybody..Back later...Joanne

Tammy 12-19-2004 05:08 PM

Joanne, I used to belong to WW. I weigh less now than I ever did when I was attending the classes. Isn't that weird? When I joined Curves 2 years ago, I lost about 20 pounds. Then when I started the SouthBeach Diet last year about this time, I added 25 pounds to the loss. -45 (it was -49 but we won't go there! lol) I had already told my husband that I was thinking about rejoining WW or joining TOPS after the first of the year. We'll see what pans out.

It is very cold and windy here today. Went shopping. I bought 2 cards. Big spender here!!

I think my son and I are going again tomorrow. I need to get finished.

Joanne D 12-19-2004 07:41 PM

Hey There

Tammy- Get yourself a large calender. Every day write in what exercise you have done and how much.. Keep a journal. Once a week put in your weight. I see you are in Ohio so I guess walking outside is not what you can do often at this time of the year. I hope you have a T/M or your hubby gives you one for Christmas.. I had a cheaper one. After the second motor went my son gave me a fancy one.. I use it most every day. I did another 3 miles on it today. When the weather is good ,I walk to the beach.. I live on the Gulf of Mexico..Well ,1 1/4 miles from it. The beach I walk to is a 3 mile walk. You can go to Tops and use WW diet. Tops has a better support group at least I think so.
I am staying away from the mall. I am too tempted to buy more..My presents are under the tree. My daughter was here this weekend. She hasn't started yet either. She said school has taken over her life this year..My hubby is a retired teacher. He finds it hard to believe how much things have changed. The work loads just keep getting bigger.
Hello everybody..We are supposed to get real cold tomorrow..Joanne

Candicej 12-20-2004 03:38 AM

Mima....I know why I hurting so bad too..another yeast infection I always get pain first and then the irrataion and ittching! I can't ride in a car like this so it better clear up fast..took a difflucan I had here and calling the doc tomorrow! Funny how we blame our pain first on overdoing isn't it?

Tammy...my son will be somewhere near Akron..Cuyahogoa falls......for his 3rd year medical training,

Joanne...it's ok to eat a few cookies every now and then!

Meme....never heard of the alka s. either..will it work on yeast too?

Christmas is over here and now onto the packing..even got thankyous sent out! So cold I can't stand it..the mice are playing in the attic.catching at least one everyday, and today we heard a terrible noise and one got just its foot trapped so I had to take him and the trap outside and release him.....

Mima 12-20-2004 06:20 AM

Candice-get yourself some acidolphalus capsules and take them every day since you are prone to that darn yeast or eat yogurt faithfully. Meme is ok-read about the alkaseltzer thing on the net. Called doc and he said my culture didn't grow so stop taking those pills-go figure-there was blood in my urine. Can't think about it til after kids leave. Am very nervous about them coming-3 grownups!!! Bobby-the one with money wants to stay in a motel for the 3 days when they will all be here. I think Brad and I should!!!!No word on the house yet-we will call him today!!!I'm just afraid that he will sell it to someone else. There is nothing for sale in this area that takes dogs-We went to see the boat parade at the other grandmother's nice. They had colds-hope they didn't pass them along. Tammy, are you out of school yet? My school dept pays 80 % of my health insurance so I'm not sure if they would pay to buy insurance out of state. WE will see. It sounds doable right now-just pay the copayments. Get all the exams up north. Stay calm everyone. Mima

Joanne D 12-20-2004 09:39 AM

Hey There

Candice- I always heard yogart was good for yeast infection...They have over the counter meds now that are good too..Cookies? Not good for me..I don't know where to stop once I take first bite.
What happened to getting a big rock and sending that mouse to netherland.. He will just go back home now. We have a problem with squirrels now and then . I send them to another world too..Mice and most of the rodent families can cause your house to burn down. They chew on wires and everything they can..
Mima.. If you put down something to hold house they can't sell it without telling you..I think...
Tammy..How you doing? Hello everybody...Joanne

Happy Canuk 12-20-2004 11:37 AM

Good morning.

Candice - sorry to hear you have another yeast infections. Well, welcome to the club. This seems to have become a chronic condition for me. I have taken 2 Diflucans in the past week and it is still there. Going to try to get to the Dr. today. Also, have all kinds of creams. Nothing kills it. I take Acidophilis and eat plain yougurt all the time. Nothing works!!!!!

Mima - I hope your deal gets settled soon. Let some of them stay in motels. You can't house everybody. I hope Christmas day is nice for you, so you can be outside.

Joanne - Your body is so used to the exercise you do, you maybe need to change it a bit. Try to do a few weight exercises or stretches or when walking, walk slow, then fast. Just change what you are doing a bit.

Tammy - Joanne is right. A journal will help. Good luck with what ever you decide to do.

Meme - did you get yourself played out?

Hope you all have a nice day. I am baking cookies today.

Tammy 12-20-2004 12:54 PM

Joanne, I like the idea of using a calendar to mark things down. I have a calendar that would be perfect for that.

Candice, I'll wave to your son, but we're on opposite sides of the state so I don't know if he will see me or not! lol

Our last day of school was Friday. It was so nice not having to get up this morning! I like sleep!

Happy Canuk, my plans are to make cookies sometime this week. I just made a cheese ball for a gathering that I'm going to tonight. Also have supper in the crock pot.

MemeToo 12-20-2004 01:39 PM

UTI and bladder infection remedy

I have both of my boys today. It's soooo cold here ... and the cold really works on me. I have a Dr. app. tomorrow. I went to get my allergy med. filled last week and they told me it would be $250 without a Dr. confirmation that I really needed it. I'm like, why would I have a script if I didn't really need it ... DUH! More insurance crap. I'm tired!

Tammy 12-20-2004 08:52 PM

Meme, doesn't insurance just irritate the heck out of you? sometime they just need to use a little bit of common sense.

Mima 12-21-2004 07:17 AM

You are right about insurance. Now I read that Aleve causes heart attacks -Brad takes Aleve. Pretty soon all our good meds will be off the market We found another house and this one is perfect but in a busier area-not that our area isn't busy. And there is a Walmart next door. Can't see it-You don't own the land but it has a perfect screen room for Brad and his trains. We are calling today. And we will still have money in the bank. Waiting for a call from our pastor because the light is on in the window saying the heat is off at home -hope the light is wrong. We might have set it too high. Hope that's the reason.Pastor was in there yesterday and heat was on. Oh yeah, I have to get confirmation for my cholesterol med and it's not a problem. Kids coming tonight. Mima

Tammy 12-21-2004 09:23 AM

I just read that about Aleve too!! I take that every now and then.
Wow! another house and perfect!! With Walmart next door? I spend so much time at Walmart, that would be handy.

We've been talking about downsizing in the near future. We bought my parents' house after they passed away. Large yard which takes quite a bit of time to mow and take care of. Also, our laundry is in the basement, and the stairs are something that I'm not very good with anymore. Our son doesn't want to think about leaving this house, but he'll be off to college in a couple years, and then out on his own. My hubby is 57 now, and after a car accident 1 1/2 years ago, is really feeling every ache and pain.
We'll just have to do what is best for us I guess.

MemeToo 12-22-2004 01:48 AM

Tammy, we have a basement, too. We just built this house about 15 years ago and I insisted we have a basement. I teach piano and I had to have my students out of my house. I had them in my house for nearly 15 years before and I hated it. Always had parents and other kids waiting in the den ... especially in the winter and the hot part of the summer. Hubby didn't have anywhere to go. And our last house was pretty big - but when he came home there was always people there every night and he was kind of 'stuck' with them until I got through teaching and some nights that was 7 or after. But I've had surgery on both knees and we really argued about the basement ... he didn't want to have one, was afraid I'd fall down the steps. Fortunately, he is a toolmaker so he was able to make me an elevator of sorts. He put it between the kitchen and my bathroom upstairs and it came out to also be at the top of the stairs and right at the back door. Then, downstairs, it comes down in the laundry room so it's perfect. I can just get on and take my laundry down (or up) and we have a garage in one end of the basement so I can bring my groceries right up to the kitchen, too! It's not any bigger than a closet so it doesn't take up much room. You might want to think about doing something like that in your house!

The play Sun. night was soooo good. All four of my kids were trees! :D Ross was 'Bud', the tree who wanted to sail on the ocean. In the end, he was cut down and made into a boat that carried Jesus out into the sea. Another tree wanted to carry mighty kings. It was cut down and made into the manger that held the baby Jesus. And the third tree wanted to stay in the forest and stand tall on a hill. It was cut down and used to make the cross that Jesus hung on. It was touching but it also had it's funny moments. There were marching trees that sang a funny song and there was a 'rapping' woodcutter named Woody. All the trees put on sunglasses and Woody the woodsman had on overalls and a red flannel shirt and had his hat on backwards (I'm talking about a big man with white hair and a beard) and they all rapped a song about 'How much wood could a woodcutter cut if a woodcutter could cut wood? HUH?" You should have seen all those little kids wiggling their behinds with those sunglasses on - there were about 18 of them. It was funny. I have a picture of my 4 little trees for you. Life is never dull with them around! That's for sure. ;)

Cute picture Meme:D Your grandbabies are not babies anymore! Insurance is a pain but you gotta have it or it will break you!

Happy.....I'm on difflucan too and it is really making me sick this time, headache, nausea and acid reflex and the inside of my mouth gets sore...I can't travel on this med..so I am not taking the second pill, might be sorry but I will take it with me and see if I need it..creams do not help me either...I eat yougurt and take acidophilus too.....send me some cookies! ;) So cold here and we wil be traveling in bad weather...hope we do not have any problems.....we don't leave until Thursday and most of the snow should be past but might be blowing....how on earth will I get the car loaded with below 0 temps, need to get my long underware out I guess! If my mom was not sick we would just cancel our trip! :sball2:

Mima.....you can have a false negative urine test that shows blood..I get them all the time. So it might not be anything serious...hope not anyway!

Tammy....I wish he would be on your side of the state..he will be too far for us to go see him.....we do not travel well! Happy and you are baking..wish I was to warm me up but I gotta rest for my 6 hr.trip to SE Mo.

Joanne....Most of my mice a dead when I find them but this little guy just had his toe caught. They run through my attic all the time. It's my kitchen where I do not like to find them, cause then I have to wash everything!

Be packing tomorow night so i will not get on here...try to post from my brothers...have a Merry Christmas..or BTW got Happy and meme's card on
the same day!

Merry Christmas to all of you. I hope the new year will bring you peace, contentment and good health.

Mima - glad you were able to get the house. That will probably be much better for you. Enjoy Christmas with your family.

Meme - You too. I know you will have lots of Christmas gatherings. I hope you aren't too tired to enjoy them.

Candice - drive carefully. We have to travel as well, but only a 2 hour trip, but in snow, apparently, or worse, freezing rain. I hope we get where were going before that starts!!! Have a nice time.

Joanne - I know you will be enjoying your family. Have a really nice Christmas, and let worries of gaining a pound, drown for a day. That weight will go off quickly the next day.

Tammy - I hope you have a wonderful holiday and get some much needed rest.

I probably won't be back on until after the New Year. We are gone until the 28 and then I am bringing back my gdaughter for a visit and we will go back again on the 31st. So not much time.

Mima 12-23-2004 07:27 AM

Closing this am-1300 for insurance but we will try to change that later. 2 wonderful mattresses. Off line til we can get our phone changed. Wonderful Holidays to all. Mima

MemeToo 12-23-2004 10:31 AM

Well, looks like everyone is either going to be offline or gone for the Holidays. Just want to wish everone who is traveling a safe trip and all of you a Merry Christmas. Hope you all have a wonderful time with loved ones. Don't eat anything I wouldn't eat - so that means you can eat anything you want! :D I love you guys ... you're like my second family!!! So ... since we spend so much time 'together' ... I thought we should have our own little tree.

http://memeart.tripod.com/chtree1.gif

And since some of us are in Florida ... here's a tree just for you!

Hey There

Merry Christmas EverybodyThis hardly ever works for me..
I too may be off and then if I find time maybe not.. I have family coming in tomorrow. They will be here till sunday. That is my 51st anniversary.
It is supposed to turn cool again for this weekend..We were supposed to get rain so far the sun is shineing..
Bye for now...Joanne

MemeToo 12-23-2004 02:56 PM

My Dr. office just called ... when I went to the Dr. Tues I had blood drawn and it's low again. Hematicrit is 29.8 and Hemoglobin is only 10.1. Trouble is, they don't tell you anything to DO about it!!! I told the duffus about my allergy medicine and he said, "we'll send them a letter." Well, I told him it wasn't working anyway and he didn't even bother to change it, just gave me some samples of the same stuff and then wrote a script for a Z pack ... like that's going to help allergies. Then said, "see you in 4 months." I'm thinking, yeah ... if I'm not DEAD!!! (Wonder if he'd send flowers?)

No wonder I'm so tired!

:merry:

Tammy 12-23-2004 07:40 PM

Meme, your elevator sounds great. I really don't think we'll be living here more than another couple of years, so I really hate to put too much more money in the house. As it is, Bob and Tim do most of the laundry! (maybe that's why I don't want an elevator!!)

Your "trees" are adorable by the way! Love the story line that you wrote down about the play they did. The Christmas tree and Palm tree are neat too!!

Mima, hooray for buying the house!! Hope someone bought some underwear and a toothbrush!!

Happy, have a safe trip, and enjoy your time with your family.

Meme, take care of yourself!!!! Dumb doctors.

I'll be around for the holidays. We have about 24 inches of snow right now. Hope the wind doesn't start blowing again, because the driveway is cleared out (for now). I know the guys went out twice yesterday, and then they went out today and cleaned off what fell overnight. I'm ready for spring. I don't even care about a white Christmas. This is toooooooooooooooooo much.

anagram 12-24-2004 05:28 AM

Eeks - I'll say TOO MUCH. Storm turned to rain (fortunately) before it reached us.

DS here - leaving this AM and then we head to DDs for the next two days. I am SO enjoying Christms this year.

Hope all is well w/all of you over the next few days and that peace and joy be with you all.

Tammy 12-24-2004 07:40 AM

Anagram, I will share this beautiful snow with you! lol From where I'm sitting, the view would make a lovely Christmas card. All of the snow, the sky is pink and purple in the east. It really is pretty. I know I won't be saying that in about an hour, because I'm heading out to get some last minute items and food for the family Christmas here tomorrow. I'd rather stay in bed or in the chair with a good book.

Mima 12-27-2004 07:43 AM

Good morning-guess I won't complain about 4 days of rain!!! We are in -a plastic picnic table -4 folding chairs-2 lounge-2 awesome beds and a tv-better than those poor people in Asia. Had a great Christmas-going to Busch Gardens today-got phone-gotta get ready. Have fun . Mima

Tammy 12-27-2004 08:59 AM

Mima, lol . I think I would take the rain. Sounds like a great time for you, even with the rain. I haven't been to Busch Gardens in years. I'd like to go back one of these days. Enjoy yourself!

Everyone else, Have a great Monday!
Mine won't be so fun, heading out to a funeral (one of the aides from the school who I've known for about 25 years) and then on to the dentist.

Joanne D 12-27-2004 07:01 PM

Hey There

Hello Everybody,I hope you all got everything you wanted for Christmas... I have a nasty cold.. I woke up last night with a sore throat and the day has just gone downhill. So, I won't be here long.
Mima- I bet you are excited ,getting into your place. In no time you will get it all fixed up.. Busch Gardens is about 30 miles from me.. I haven't been there in a while.. These parks in Florida have really got expensive! There is a lot of walking too. I would never go in the summer if I can get out of it.. Too hot.
I hope Everyone has a Great New Year..Be safe...Joanne

Tammy 12-27-2004 08:07 PM

Joanne, I hope you get over that cold! No fun at all. Another friend of mine and her whole family had the flu all weekend. Some Christmas!

Hey! Maybe we could all come and stay at your place and we could go to Busch Gardens while we are there.

MemeToo 12-28-2004 12:14 AM

That would be a hoot ... we could all meet at Busch Gardens and spend the day together.

Mima ... I'm glad you got your house. You'll have fun decorating!

Joanne I hope you are feeling better Colds are no fun. When I get a cold it usually takes me a month or 2 to get over it.

Tammy .... so sorry about your friend. Funerals are no fun. :(

I've been in bed most of the day. Christmas about 'done me in'!!! Too much celebratin' I guess. ;) I'm aching all over! I'm glad the company is all gone. Now if all the decorations were all down and put away I'd be happy!!! What did everybody get for Christmas? I got a leather jacket, DVDs of 'Friends' and old TV shows and retromercials, framed pictures of the kids, PJs, a throw, a massage pillow and (always good) ... money and hubby is putting new tile and shelves in my basement for me this week, too. And then I got my computer before Christmas.

The little kids had a good Christmas ... they got so much. Portable DVD players and CD players, Game Boys and Play Stations and games. There is so much 'stuff' for kids now! It's amazing!!! And of course, they want it all!!! :p

Tell us what you did and what you got!

Mima 12-28-2004 07:54 AM

I'll get in line for the aches and pains-still having a lot in my stomache-hope it's a virus. Walking!!!I'm not lying-must have walked 10 miles yesterday. But we had fun-went on a mini roller coaster -Alison kept yelling Holy Crap!!!!It was fun . I was scared but she did all the yelling!!!!!Got home at 10:30. Boys are off today to the Everglades and maybe the Edison Ford Estates. Home tomorrow. Bye for now Mima

Tammy 12-28-2004 09:30 AM

Meme, sounds like you did quite well for Christmas! Ours was pretty low key this year. Our son is going to Europe with the Ohio Music Ambassadors in June. Most of the money is for payments for that right now. The tree did look pretty skimpy this year, but his trip will be well worth it.

Mima, too cool about the roller coaster. I can imagine all of the walking that you did.

MemeToo 12-28-2004 05:15 PM

I'll say ... that sounds like a pretty good Christmas present to me!!! WOW!

That's just too funny about the Roller Coaster ride! I used to love those things before I started hurting just to go around a curve in the road!

anagram 12-28-2004 10:34 PM

Make room for me on the "hurting" list. Came home Sunday evening - hurting yesterday and today like I haven't hurt for a good while. Nice Christmas though. DH gave me a jogging outfit, a card software which will go back, gift certificate to a spa which will go for massages and maybe a pedicure and a gift certificate to tai chi classes. Nice framed pics of the grands, necklace, eyeglass holder, little velvet box for jewelry/stuff and a datebook frm daughter. Son and his dw left gifts here but we'll open when they come back on their way home. Got to pool yesterday even though it's been sooo cold.

Mima, how great you got your new place in time for Christmas. Must have really helped w/all the company. Sounds like a great time.
Meme, dh's H&H are down again as well. Have they ever considered Procrit for you? His dose has been doubled in recent weeks. And he must have more bloodwork to see what his iron levels are (he takes a high dose supplement but it may still not be high enough).

What a great trip for your son, Tammy. Haven't been to Busch Gardens in a long time either. Was in Cypress Gardens not too long before it closed. Hear it's open again. So far don't miss going to Florida this year but ask me again in about two weeks. I have so enjoyed Christmas this year.

Candicej 12-29-2004 03:00 AM

I'm back........
To update you on mom....we had a good visit with her on Christmaseve and even got some pictures, hope they turn out. They had 18 inches of snow down there and the whole town shut down, noone knows how to drive in the stuff! We almost got backed into in a parking lot. Ww were at my sister's on Christmas day getting ready to eat and we got a call that something was wrong with mom and could they send her to the ER for observation..so we told them yes...well she had a major stoke, whole rightside is paralized and she also had a mild heartattack. So I was with her all day and all night on Christmas and the next day untill 11:00 PM at the hospital, she is still there..my sister and niece are alternating staying with her. We just do not want her to suffer anymore...then I had to go to my brother's to pack for our trip home. DH had to go to the ER with a sinus and ear infection for medication, and now I am sick......my throat is so sore and ear and head and temp....the doc said I could try antibiotics but I said not right now ... let me try and fight it on my own since I do not tolorate them well...they make me so sick and I am jsut getting over the yeast thing!. I need some sleep but with this sore throat I'm not going to get it! DS leaves today, so doing some laundry right now. Still got some unpacking to do too. I hate being sick sick......and worry about mom. Hope I didn't get anyone down there sick.

I feel to bad to read everything...but I am thinking of you all:D Oh I lost a pound!

Mima 12-29-2004 06:08 AM

Oh Candice-that is too bad. But you did go to see her-remember that! It's not always easy. Prayers for you and your family. I have a sore throat-starting zinc. The boys are going to the airport for 10 am-hope they have good traveling. Suzanne took 3 hours to get home from the airport because of the snow. Brad and the boys took a wild ride in the Everglades -they loved it. Then we went out to eat with everyone. This constantly spending money is making me nervous plus always eating out. No more for a while but that means I have to cook. Super Walmart next door ! Stomache feels a little better. Relaxed. Furniture shopping today. Mima
