Well Monday I had my yearly female exam, all ok but still pelvic pain and she thinks it is interstitial cystitis, related to "summer eating" (too many acidic foods). She did not run a urine culture, she was running behind and we forgot so off to my family doc today for that and too check out this hip pain. I shopped after my appt. and did over 23,000 steps! Today I did the TM and my Body Electric workout dispite my having to pee all the time and my pain. I'm at 12,000 steps now.
Hubby has a bad back so he can't mow either............we are too old and decrept to keep this place up! Gotta go hurts to sit!!!!!!!!!! |
Time to buy a condo, Candice-Then you will have to plant your garden on the patio. I am going to the condo today to get the inspection for the smoke alarm, bring it to the lawyer, go to the dentist, go to auntie's for a short walk and lunch, come home, take a nap, cook dinner, and go to a Fair meeting at church. I am taking meme's place while she rests. Sent our money to Fl for the payment on rented slab for the camper for Dec 1 -April 1-that's when I rest. And see Evan and Al!!!!!!I want to read that book. That's a lot of steps Candice. I only did 2500 yesterday and I was so busy !!!My Fair projects are coming along nicely-2 quilts-love to make them-now going to work on adult bibs-saw them at a craft fair in FL-really a joke but I hear they use them in the nursing homes. I put a towel on me at lunch. I have someone to help me. I am trying to organize my den. It's an extra bedroom, computer room, sewing room, Brad's clothes room, storage for office supplies, filing cabinet. Wow!!!!!Brad is going to rebulid apartment downstairs-That should be a good spot for all this. Oh yeah, and ny ironing board. But the weird thing is that it works!!!!!!!!!Bye for now, Mima

The doc has me on a trial of Mobic (anti-infamatory drug) but the first one I took caused gastrointestinal symptoms, headache and anxiousiousness, the up side is that it did help with my pain a little. I just cannot tolorate many meds.......so I only got 7,000 steps done and nothing extra in the workout department. Not sure if I want to take another Mobic or not........Blood work and bone denstiy scan next week. I have not been to my family doc in 2 years.....I have not been sick at all just lots of pain! Two years ago I was 10 pounds lighter but the doc told me to gain a few back...that I did with no effort! Ha!
Mima..I bet you did more steps than that..when you take tiny steps like browsing in a sotre it doesn seem to count it. My Dh does not like me organizing his stuff, says he can't find anything after I do. |
Candice, I've been on Mobic the last 3 plus years and it's been very good inflammation wise. When dr. prescribed that for me he prescribed Protonix right along with it and that has helped keep stomach stuff under control until recent addition of Plavix. I think that was just too much for tummy.
But recently he had switched me to another platelet drug which did seem to ease up on the GI stuff a bit but four days later I had another of the severe headaches. So I'm back on the Plavix and trying to keep stomach under control by giving up a lot more foods and eating every few hours. It's better by a bit but still a problem. I go back next week. I think one reason I put on so much wt. over the years is that I've been on NSAIDs more than 20 years and had just enough stomach upset that I thought I was hungry all the time. Took me years to realize it was the medicines as food always took care of the problem. In fact, I suspect it would now too if I felt like I wanted to overeat all the rest of my life. Of course, I'm not losing any wt right now. I go back this month for the redo of the redo of the mammo on my right breast. Saw four tiny calcium spots last spring. I'm hoping the cyst I had removed from same breast earlier in the summer takes care of that (?). Of course, you see different doctors for all this........I had my first "something'" removed from that breast 35 years ago and have had cysts removed from about the same area 7 or 8 times through the years. Sometimes it was in between mammos and recalls and took care of the problem. Not sure if it will this time though but hoping. Other than all that, things are going ok. Dh almost back to where he was before July bleed. I've started digging into backlog of work, hay fever isn't as bad as some years (the storms, I guess, have knocked down some pollen early), daughter's family coming up this weekend, son the following (I know, I have a lot of difficulty getting things to work out at the same time, sheesh, but in some ways it's good to have individual time with them. Plus, dh and I have been concentrating on getting some "fun" time in. Went to summer theater yesterday, he's golfing today, I'm going out to dinner with friend this evening. Really need to get lots more relaxing time and fun time in. And must get back to keeping in touch w/friends. Of course, more vice versa too but I guess I should let them know I'm available. Going to sister's for cookout on Sunday. |
My doc gave me Impramine to take 2 hours before bedtime and that helps the pain-I guess it keeps yor muscles calmer. I could not tolerate Plaquenil-neither could Brad-stomache pains. Today I have wicked sinus-course I ate wrong and pollen is out there-but I will recover. Going strong on the Craft Booth. Now we are going to make some adult bibs out of towels-I saw them in FL at a Craft Fair. You can give them as a joke!!!But they also use them in Nursing Homes. Another hurricane. I am going to have to talk to my son today. Bye for now. Mima Oh yeh-go Red Sox!!!!!!!!

I was on Plaquenil too when they put me on the Mobic. The Plaquenil has seemed to work well for me as I've been able to be off it now for 2 and a half years and with less inflammation, etc. Sort of a "remission" which dr. says it only does for about 10% of people (and only about 33% can tolerate it at all).
Mima, my mom loved her adult bibs which my sil made for her. She wore them at home long before she went to nursing home. I have a blind friend who wears them at home as well (and I think sometimes I should) and when she goes out to eat, she uses a sweaterchain to hold her napkin in front of her. BTW, this friend was told she lost her sight because of med she took for RA when she was in her 30s. She says it helped that as she's had no pain since but she thinks she'd rather have the pain than be blind but now she also gets awful pain in her eyes because of some procedures they did to try to hold onto her sight (didn't work). My dr and eye dr tell me Placquenil used to do that as they gave it in higher doses originally (she took it at least 30 years ago) and they've neither personally seen a case w/this result. The problem with her sight didn't start for some years after she was off the med so I'm leery but I've been to an expert who did some calculations and said I've not taken enough even though I was on it for several years - there's a certain threshold below which it doesn't (supposedly) happen. Well, on to cheerier things. |

Fibromyalgia #126
Good morning ladies.
Candice - 23,000 steps. You must have not stopped walking for hours!!! I feel like I have walked a long time when I walked 8000 or 10,000 steps. I don't think my hip would ever agree to that many  Glad you are able to do it though. Mima - Yes, you do seem to be taking Meme's place in the busy department. It is nice you got your space rented for the winter. I hope they don't have hurricanes then as well. That is just too scarey. Joanne - How's it going! I hope you have a found a way to get happy again. You have just had a lot to deal with. How has your neck been? Anagram - Take time for fun as it is important!!! Sound like you are doing just that. Glad your hubby is getting better. I am another that can't seem to tolerate anti-inflammatories. Was supposed to try to take 2 Celebrex for 10 days; made it to day 6 and then my stomach started burning like crazy so had to stop. I take another med with it for my stomach but didn't seem to do much good. I have tried a lot of anti-inflammatories but my stomach just can't tolerate them. That is how I gained this darn weight to start with. I just have to eat to stop the stomach pain. Even after I finished taking them, it seemed to go on and on. Like Candice, I just don't do well with pain meds. Thank God, I don't have to take anything except the Sotalol for the Arrythmia business. That one also causes weight gain. Sometime you just can't win!!! Meme - hope you are still taking life a little easier. Glad to hear that your ankle is starting heal some. Hope you all have a good day. |
