Well ... we were at 4 pages already ... time for another new thread. Cute baby Candice.

I still can't believe my 'baby' just graduated from preschool 2 weeks ago. She will be a big Kindergartener in a few weeks. She was so proud. We all held our breaths as she made that long walk all the way around the parents and relatives up to the front of the room with the other students ... we were so afraid she would fall out of her shoes before she got there. She is the clumsiest child ever born. We call her our little blonde, Barbie ditz ... she is a TRUE blonde! ;) The Preschool Director said something about each child as they gave them their certificate and about Jenna she said she was a born leader and a negotiator. Said all the children loved her a would follow what ever she did. She said Jenna definitely had career choices as a negotiator or she asked how many had heard her sing ... she said that also could be a good career choice and that we might all see her on our TVs or at Nashville someday!

MemeToo 06-29-2004 01:00 PM

Well ... mine did the same thing and I checked and the show or not show thumbnails has nothing to do with this page - so I guess they have changed the way pictures are shown.

Happy Canuk 06-29-2004 02:20 PM

Meme and Candice, what sweet kids! Just click on the thumbnail and it is enlarged.

Meme, my little Ashley turned 6 in April. Where in the world does the time go!! She "graduated" from Kindergarten - happily. She is one smart little girl, but she prefers playing. She learns very easily, and like her mom, is blessed with a photographic memory. I asked her if she went back to Kindergarten next year, and she said "No, grandma, I have to goooo to grade 1! Now I won't have ANY time to play  Gotta love 'em. Ashley won an award for being very helpful and caring of other children, plus her scolastic endeavors. She has been reading pretty good for a while now, and she understands some pretty big words.

Candice - Hope you are feeling ok. I know you do a LOT of yard work and then end up sleepeating - wish I had THAT as an excuse :o

My darn hip is giving me a problem. I have arthritis in it and it has been flaring up the past couple of weeks. Feel like I need to take a cane with me, as the pain is very acute and very biting.

Hi to everybody. I take it Mima is away camping right now. Hope she is having a good time. Joanne has company, and Anagram and Ally check in once in a while.

MemeToo 06-30-2004 12:05 AM

Well ... DUH ... I know it enlarges when you clickon it Anne!!! Thanks for the help!

Jenna can already read some simple books and write everybody in the family's names, etc. She's pretty smart ... just clumsy! :D Kaylyn just finished Kindergarten and she is reading some pretty hard stuff. Of course Paula (Jenna's mom) had them all beat. When she was only half way through the first grade they tested her out and she was reading on a fifth grade level. She had to go to a special reading class for gifted children (only she was the only child in it ... the school created it for her!) I told the girls that and they both said they were going to be just like her! They'd better hurry, she started reading whole books when she was 5! ;)

Happy I just hobble around with my hips sometimes it's both and sometimes its just one! Hope yours gets better soon! :dizzy:

Meme...well glad I didn't do anything wrong with my picture, yours is so cute...I just think you look so young and Jenna is so cute!:D

Walked tonight  but have only gone 6000 steps so want to walk around the living room later. We met a new neighbor that built a new house down the road from us, really nice and she has 3... 9 week old kittens..I want one and DH says no! She also has a minature pincher...really cute!

Made and appt with the foot doc today, I have been trying to treat a sore toe on my own...sometimes when my whole leg hurts the toe is very sensitive but now there is a tiny spot fungus :o (I think) starting in the nail and I'm not sure I can take that lamisil they prescribe for it so going to see if there are any other options, it is just very painful, can't stand anything touching it much. I had the nail on my other foot removed several years ago due to an injury that wouldn't heal, do not want to do that again!

MemeToo 06-30-2004 12:12 PM

Candice... I was afraid that dropping 30 pounds like I did would grow wrinkles but not so far. I can't believe I don't have ANY and I'll be 60 in less than 3 years now!!! We had two new couples come to our church just recently and they asked us to go out and eat with them a couple of times. Then, one night they asked if we wanted to go to a concert with them. We went to dinner before the concert and age came up. They were asking about our children and when they found out we had grandchildren they asked my husband how old I was while I was at the salad bar. He told them I was 57 and they about flipped out. They said they figured he was in his late 50s but they thought I was younger than them, they are in their mid 40s. THEY THOUGHT I HAD MARRIED AN OLDER MAN!!!!!!! ;)

Meme that's funny and you do have beautiful young looking skin, (llke a porcelin (sp)doll) what do you do to keep it that way, any special regiman? I cannopt tolorate a lot of stuff or makeup on me, most stuff makes my eyes burn and gives me aheadache even if they say unscented.!

Pulled weeks and trimmed bushes today at 7000 steps now..I know I did more that that too!

Candicej 07-02-2004 03:31 AM

Had my hair cut today and did some shopping, need to mow again but rain expected here, we will see....right at 7000 steps and hurting a bit from eysterday I guess.:(

Mima 07-02-2004 02:05 PM

Hello from fat Mima-back to my diet. NOW!! Just got back from VT-awesome. quiet, peaceful. Didn't do much but ride around-swam twice-boy, those campers aren't as friendly as the ones down south. Nice but they didn't go out of their way to socailze. Bye for now. Mima

Happy Canuk 07-03-2004 01:01 AM

Hello . Hope you all have a wonderful Loooong weekend. I suspect lots of BQ's or picnics are in order. We had Canada Day on July 1. Didn't do much, as it rained all afternoon. I did watch the fireworks last night and they were great.

Mima - hope you get back on track. Those pounds just sneak on so silently.

Meme - I know you will be busy with all your family. Have fun.

Candicej 07-03-2004 01:42 AM

Watered, mowed and prunned so Hoping to rest today;) I'm at 8000 steps so far...........and got lots of pts left to eat up..........

Mima 07-03-2004 06:32 AM

What kind of pedometer do you have? Got one from McDonald's and it doesn't work. Happy Fourth everyone: we will go to the fireworks tomorrow night with the people from Brad's church. It's going to be hot this weekend, Excavator coming Mon to start digging up the yard and put in trenches. I think the condo is sold. Mima

Candicej 07-04-2004 03:21 AM

it's a talking one Mima:D Not sure what brand they are, I have a wW one too but do not think it is a accurate.

ok I made lemon bars again tonight and tried to make them less pts with splenda and egg sub...but they do not taste as well, they are ok but just not the same. Do you all get the results taht I do when using an egg sub, kinda rubbery or sponge like texture..I do not like that, it always tastes ok but do not like the texture!

Just 5000 steps today...It was my rest day!

Happy 4th, watched the fireworks from my front porch!

Mima 07-04-2004 06:57 AM

Cassidy does not like those fireworks or thunderstorms either. Funny thing-Brad has been putting off fixing the leak in the bathtub-finally pulled out the sink-the leak was in the easily accessible closet which would have taken a few minutes-2 months without baths!!!!!!Jut showers. Not so funny-I have a wicked case of bursitis in my shoulder. Fortunately, I have an appt with the rheumo on Tuesday. I will get a shot-in the meantime, if I put my arm the wrong way ,it goes into painful spasms. I have to be careful. Hey Candice, if you use Eggland eggs, at least it will help improve HDL-I use them in cooking, not the egg substitute but I use Splenda. Haven't baked lately. Found some great fries with no transfat-that's the4 thing I worry about. Bought salmon but Brad says he will have pizza. I'll eat it. Have fun. Mima

Candicej 07-05-2004 02:19 AM

Mima..please tell me about the notrans-fat fries! The bars were not that bad today and DH could not tell I had substitued anything. They are all gone ..didn't keep me from eating them! Ha!l I had salmon today...love it! Do all eggland eggs have the new benefit now? (or just special ones) have a new brownie receipe to trya nd a cobbler one.....on my...I better keep moving to burn some calories!

Foot doc on Tuesday, hate going away when it rains, hard for me to get mobing.

Have you all heard of Nioxin, supposed to help with thinning hair..I ordered some, 40 bucks!!!!!!!!!!

Mima 07-05-2004 06:58 AM

I will post it later Candice-Brad is still sleeping. They were good. I have been trying to buy no transfat items-Brad's sugarfree cookies are usually loaded with fat, That transfat is a new label they just came out with-be wary of the low carb ice cream-it's also loaded with fat. I ahve been using eggland eggs for years because it raises hdl. Also ate salmon last night but Brad wouldn't so he had mac and cheese. We got new cell phones yesterday. I'm going to do some crafts at Hope House today-a summer program for needy kids. Just 3 hours. Mima

Mima 07-05-2004 08:24 AM

Alexia oven fries-from the freezer section-hadn't seen them before.

Mima 07-05-2004 08:27 AM

I did a search for Illinois-Whole Foods market and Supertarget. They were at my grocery store.

MemeToo 07-05-2004 11:53 PM

OK ... now I'm REALLY done ... down ... and OUT! I had to do all the grocery shopping and get the piano at church tuned and then office max and then home and make potato salad and bake a cake and make banana pudding for a family reunion ... by myself on Friday and it wasn't even MY family! Then Saturday I had to go to hubby's family reunion, then I was late to a picnic ... then I had a wedding rehersal after that. Then on Sunday I had church from 9:30 to 11:30, had to be at church for the wedding at 2 (I had to play). The wedding was at 3 and over at 4 but I had to stay and clean up so since church started at 5:30 I didn't get to leave until 7 so we didn't get home until 8:30 since we had to eat. Today we had dinner and fireworks at our daughter's and now I'm ready to call it quits. My ankle is terrible and I absolutely HAVE to get off of it. It has gotten worse in the last few weeks. I'm going to just have to say NO to people when they ask me to do things ... like play for their wedding! That's my problem I guess, I just can't say "No." Does anyone else have that problem? :?: I wonder how many steps I would have taken last weekend if I'd have had one of those thingies on???

It has rained here almost every day and I'm hurting so bad I'm living on Darvocet and Aleve. The wind blew over two of our beautiful Bartlett Pears sitting up really close to our house today ... I nearly cried. Split them right in two. It also blew over a big tree on my father-in-law's car and completely covered it ... broke the windshield out. More storms tomorrow!

Mima 07-06-2004 05:57 AM

Wow about the storms-we had a really bad one last week in VT-Meme-I used to not be able to say no but now I can-especially since what overwork does to our bodies, One of the best things I learned to say was that I would think about it when someone asked me to do something. Then I would see how it would fit into my life. What are the important things you HAVE to do? I would think taking care of that ankle would be at the top. I went to volunteer yesterday and I was so glad that it was just for one day -originally it was suppossed to be for 2 weeks, I was so tired and we were asked to stay for lunch and sit with the kids. Lots of boys and the got restless about 11:30 with 2 hours to go. Make a list of what you need to do and put God first and then you and then others. And say I will think about it. Remember you are a human being , not a human doing. Going to rheumo and get a shot in my shoulder and then to massage and Walmart-not a bad day. Another thing Meme, when you were abused as a child, you tend to abuse yourself as an adult. I guess it's comfortable. Mima

Happy Canuk 07-06-2004 11:51 AM

Well Meme, looks like you are back to your old tricks. No lecture from me this time, as you do this to yourself all the time. One day you will learn; you are the only one who can look after YOU!!! There is a little word in our language, but it is forceful. I don't think you know that word, however - it is simply "NO".

Mima - I don't know if you people get McCain frozen frys or not, but they make a fat free one, and also one with Olive Oil. Both are pretty good.

Candice - A senior man wrote an article in our newspaper. He walks 14,000 steps a day. So, you had better get moving

I am going to go join the Recreation Center today. For $37.00 a month, I can go walk, do aqua areobics, swim and use the exercise equipment. Not a bad deal at all. I hate walking outside, because people that have dogs, just let them wander lose. I am afraid of dogs I don't know, and some of them are so darn big anymore. I guess they have more money than brains. If I had a pet, I sure wouldn't just let is lose. There is so much traffic that it is just plain dangerous for them.

Cut my thumb quite badly on a tin can last night. Went to ER and they didn't stitch it. They did put steri-strips on it and bandaged it really well. Said they don't like to stitch up fingertips because of the nerves on the ends. He said I would end up with tingling and numbness if he did. Also, had to get a Tetnus Shot. Haven't had one since grade 9  and that was a day or two ago.

Well, hope you all have a good day.

Just wanted to show you a picture of my Father-in-law's car. Good thing he has good insurance! Bad thing is ... MIL has Dr. app. today at 2 and hubby has to take off and take her because they have no car now. She has a place on her arm and her Dr. told her he's afraid it may be melanoma. She cut it on the screen door about a month ago and it got infected and didn't heal and then scarred over that. It looks a lot like a place my son had on his arm when he was a teenager and had a motorcycle wreck. I think it's just the way it healed and could be lanced and cleaned out and be ok ... I hope that's all it is anyway!

Happy Canuk 07-06-2004 01:51 PM

Good grief, Meme. Lot's of damage to the car, no doubt. Having a tree fall on it, and it looks huge, would leave a dent or two. These storms that everybody is getting are seeming to intensify this year. We have had a drought here for the past few years, but this year, some bad storms in the area. Not right here, but in Edmonton. Floods, winds, you name it! Glad everybody was ok, though.

Joanne D 07-06-2004 02:06 PM

Hey There

I posed a reply yesterday,I guess it is outer space. My company is gone and I am back to watching the scale. Fish tonight.
Meme- As I said before, send me the rain. It rains all around me. 2 miles away and I still am dry.
Mima- The more you come south ,the more you willl want to stay..My brother is coming back in October for a month. He is talking about staying longer maybe the following year. That is the way it work. I know he will never come to live. Their children and G/children are in Az.
Happy. Watch the cans. Hope you have no problems with the finger.
Hello everybody...Joanne

Mima 07-07-2004 06:18 AM

Sorry about your finger Anne. Joanne, all my husband talks about is when we go back to FL. He's too busy and people keep offering jobs and he can't say no_sound familiar anyone. I went to the rheumo and I had prayed that my shoulder would heal and when I went, it wouldn't hurt enough to give it a shot. Should have done that 2 weeks ago. Then I had time to kill so I visited old friends-wonderful-and then I went to massage, Today,, I am walking with Auntie. Mike will be here on the 17th and our house on the 23=camper that is. We will see them before they come here. His in-laws live on the other side of the state near Conn. and we live near NH. No word from the guy that was going to buy the condo. Plan C is a realtor-then it will sell. Mima

Candicej 07-07-2004 06:44 AM

Mima..thanks for the info ont he fries..we do not have a whole foods near hear and the Target is suppose to be a super target but they don't have that much stuff!

Happy I thought you were not gonna lecture Meme! :) take care of that thumb, I hate hand cuts, cause you use them so much! I know I need to do more steps but this is just a starting point for me...when I run errands I do over 10,000.

Nice car tree Meme......(as in tree house) I hate storms!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am pooped from my trip to the foot doc yesterday...I hate knew docs and this one was still wet behind the ears! So young, reminded me of my son! I should have gone to the one I usually see but he is an hour away and DH did not want me driving that far. Just a sore toe but it hurts to wear shoes....I thought it might be a touch of fungus :o starting but he said no, and had to x-ray for a bone spur (which it wasn't and I tried to tell him that). then he said it was just the fibro...well I'm not sure why fibro would make your toenail hurt! Anyway I got him to write a prescription for fungus stuff you apply like polish , just incase cause I do not want it spreading if it is that. I was not impressed with the office staff or dirty office either.....and they had me walk around barefoot!! Yikes..hope I didn' catch anything! Oh did I say I hate new docs, old ones too! I really need to get my hips looked at but they will say it is just Fibro so why go to the trouble! :p .....so I just suffer in silence (except for complaing to you guys!) ;) Hope I did not gross anyone out:eek:.......I'm gonna rest today I hope!

Joanne, gald your company is gone and you can get your eating back to normal...I don't have that excuse............. :o

MemeToo 07-07-2004 01:11 PM

No ... didn't gross me out. Been there, done all that. Hate Doctors, too. And I don't like foot doctors, either. Don't you just hate it when you know what's wrong with you but the Dr. is telling you it's something else and you absolutely KNOW that's not what it is? Then you wind up getting worse and having to go back later and get medicine for the RIGHT thing, which was what you were telling them what it was all along! Kind of like a husband ... don't know what to do without them and don't know what to do WITH them! But ... until we are allowed to write our own prescriptions, doctors are a necessary evil!

Storms again last night and more coming. Joanne ... wish you had some of this rain. It's killing me! I rented some movies and I'm just sitting reading and watching TV this week. CAN YOU BELIEVE IT???

Candicej 07-08-2004 04:35 AM

I knew you gals would understand about the docs....now I'm in search for a new gyn, my female one left and had a nother one and she left too and I'm due in August for my yearly!!!!!!!!!!! I will not go to a man..they just do not understand the womans body or mind..............................I keep telling my son that is gonna be a doc he has to listen to the patient and not think he knows it all!

Meme....the stoms missed us thankgoodness but sorry they are still hitting you!:(

I am having a fat day...so bloated and just feel fat....I hate these kind of days. I am also worn out with just plain fatigue from yesterday and barely got my 5000 steps in.

I have got to make some changes in my eating again and get in the losing mode instead of the maintaining mode..which means cutting way back on my sweets......... and not using my exercise pts at all and stying under 23.....my waist is growing and the scale is up a few I think. Been sleep eating more than I thought!

Mima 07-08-2004 06:21 AM

It's so easy to lose control-I have got to get rid of those tortilla chips-Dr Phil says you can't keep that junk food around. At least out of sight because husband's want their junk food. I can't eat Brad's -sugar free stuff. That's good!!! Went to the Church Fair meeting and they put a lot of yard sale stuff in with the crafts. I will have to go and move it around-got my handy helpers, Clara and Mary. They work circles around me and they must be in their 70's. Guy who wants to buy condo cxalled again and he is trying to manipulate-says he has to put in new carpet but he doesn't, just doesn't like the color. Brad says no-we are sticking with our price. So I have to tell him that today-it's the price he said he was going to bid before. WQell, the price is going way up when we get the realtor-so it's his choice. Brad also volunteered that 2 missionaries could stay in our camper overnight in August. Trouble is , they would also use our house. This would be a good time to let them know that I am Catholic because he said something derogatory about them . I told Brad I was going to hang Rosary beads and a crucifix in the camper. Ha!!!!Maybe a few votive candles. And statues. Well, the Catholic Church is not like what it used to be. And Brad can attest to that. So today it's bone density test and mammogram. I'll get that over with. Meme-from the looks of things, we are supposed to get some of those storma-guy is supposed to start our driveway today. Bye Mima

Ally0306 07-08-2004 01:11 PM

Hi Guys,
Just a quick hello as I am at work, as usual. Don't know why I even have a computer at home. Still in LOVE, still wish I could lose 20 pounds. By Sat. For my reunion. Dragged out the little picture book they sent home with my 20th. If I am lucky, all those fatties just got fatter. This is my skinny time...lots of walking. Have new white pants..can't bend over in them but they look good. :o
My kids are out again. That will last til probably Sept when their seasonal jobs end. No one wants to go back to school this semester. They haven't figured out what they want to do. Me neither. Got my NYS retirement update today. I am here for another 11 years. Ouch.
Hope everyone is doing well. Miss talking to you.
Ally

Joanne D 07-08-2004 02:44 PM

Hey There

Ally- We miss you too. Go to your reunion amd have a good time. Don't worry about the weight. You probably will look good if not better than some.
Mima- Hang in there and you will get the price you want for your house.Don't give in to the pressure. Most of that is to reduce you down. But,you know that!
Candice- I wish I had a female Dr. He does have a Nurse Practioner and she does the gyn checks. Not like a Dr. though. I swear I think I could teach her something.
Meme- I went to a Dr. once and he asked me what was wrong. He said if you don't know I guess I better check. They usually don't have a clue,I think.
Tops tonight. If the scale can hold steady till weigh in I should be ok. We all know how that goes.I only walked one time this week.
My hubby has a cold and I guess I will be next.. My sister-in-law had one so I guess that is where it came from..
Bye for now...Joanne

MemeToo 07-08-2004 05:32 PM

We miss talking to you, too, Ally. Good luck at your reunion. Which one is it? Be careful not to get something on those white pants. Last time I wore white pants to a reunion I sat down in chocolate!!! :yikes: Now I try to always wear black or navy! (Or red if it's a picnic ... catsup ...) ;)

I know how you feel Candice ... me, too! I'm just not in the mood to do anything and I feel the same way ... but at least I'm not EATING IN MY SLEEP. Anne ... how's your new exercise place going? And the thumb? Now that VBS is over I'm not losing any more weight. But that's ok, 3 pounds in one week was a lot for me. I can float for a couple of weeks.

Mima ... I hope you don't get storms like we've been having! I'm still laughing at you hanging your Rosary beads in the camper. Joanne ... did you get any rain yet? We haven't had any so far today but it's the first day in a long time and it's supposed to rain today and tomorrow so we may still get some! I've been hurting so bad I haven't been doing anything except what's absolutely necessary this week. I've been a couch potato. Guess that's why I haven't been losing any weight, huh?

You guys would all be so proud of me just laying around like I was a celebrity or something. I only cooked one night this week ... just been plain 'ole LAZY! I'm proud of me and I thought you would be, too!!! :cheer:

Where's Anagram???

Joanne D 07-08-2004 08:10 PM

Hey There

This is going to be short..With all that cooking I did last week and eating I lost 1/2 lb. I am 3 lbs below goal so I'm happy..
I think I might be getting my hubbys cold. How can I not. He snores in my face most of the night
Yes ,I am proud of you .You should do more of that..
Bye till tomorrow...Joanne

MemeToo 07-08-2004 11:02 PM

Oh no ... I HATE having a summer cold!!! I'd tape his mouth shut! :p

Ate hotdogs with chili at Sonic tonight and now I have hubby putting the sheets on from where I washed them today. (I could get used to this!) ;)

Mima 07-09-2004 06:01 AM

Great to hear from you Ally-we are still here with all our aches and pains and problems. My son went to the library and had an aptitude test to see what he was good in and that's when he went to a Tecnical Institute. The trades are good because they pay well-it helped him to work in McDonald's first, then sweeping up at the sausage factory. Don't give up on those boys-keep encouraging to go further, You never know. Well, I put a book upside down to remind me of something but I CAN'T REMEMBER WHAT IT WAS! Maybe Brad will because I told him. We had one of your storms Meme. It was bad. Had my bone density test and mammo but she couldn't develop the pics because the machine was broken so I will have to go back if they need more pics. Going to Cape Cod Sun and Mon to see my aunt. Bye for now Mima

Mima 07-09-2004 06:04 AM

Brad told his pastor what I was going to do and he laughed. But I won't really do it-I'll just be nice. !

Candicej 07-09-2004 06:43 AM

Made those 10 pt brownies and shipped some off to my son and the rest went to work with DH...I didn't trust myself to leave them here to be tempted! They are really richa and gooey... I had to try them:D

Only got 6000 steps in but mowed, did laundry, cleaned the bathroom, baked and washed my hair and used that new Nioxin prodfuct on it for thickening.

Ally.....you only need to bend over when you don't have any pants on!!!!!!

MemeToo 07-10-2004 12:45 AM

OH YUCK ... THAT'S JUST TOO GROSS TO IMAGINE!!! :o

Candicej 07-10-2004 03:03 AM

Meme you sure do look happy with no pants on cute little behind ya got there:D

I'm only at 5000 again today, but ahd to carry plants in and out of the garage again due to storms, we did get 1/2 inch so far and no wind damage, but they are calling for storms every 12 hrs for the nex few day.

anagram 07-10-2004 06:11 AM

hi, all. lurking because I'm up too early. Meme, I've had "man problems". DH in hospital, apparently internal bleeding, H&H down to 5.6/18.9. Three units of blood so far. Hoping things are turned around but haven't heard that yet. All this is throwing kidney numbers off too so am hoping he doesn't have to return to dialysis. Plus they did a sonogram yesterday of his heart (he has a 13 yr old aortic valve replacement) and stomach areas. So, tired doesn't begin to describe me. Was supposed to have another shot in cervical spine because of shoulder to wrist pain in left arm and soreness up and down spinal column but had to cancel. Also had to cancel his PT appt for Monday. Apparently he has a muscle tear in right thigh. Last several weeks have been a real mess. I lurk when I have a chance but......
