Candice, we haven't even had Thanksgiving!!!Hope your son will be coming home. But I have been shopping with a goal to be done by Dec 1st-or the 8th because I am going to work the first week near a lot of stores where I can finish up-doing well though!!!!!!Rib hurts-shouldn't have lifted folding chairs!!!Brad's wawake-Hi everyone. Mima

Mima 11-06-2003 05:26 AM

Good morning. I had a quick trip to chiro because of my rib-he says it will take 4-6 weeks so no lifting. But today is a fun day because my SIL and I are going to Boston to shop and see Les Miserables. Bye for now Mima

anagram 11-06-2003 09:14 AM

Mima - looks like you were all alone yesterday. Have a great day in Boston today.

I give myself an A+ for Monday, a B for Tuesday, an A for yesterday. Won't mention the Ds over the weekend. Rainy again today with more coming tonight.

DD, who doesn't cook at all, tells me she's invited 17 for Thanksgiving. Should be fun, eh?

Joanne D 11-06-2003 10:15 AM

Hey There

Tops tonight. My scale says no loss. I hope I just need a new scale.. I have lost inches though. I am not sweating the small stuff. It has to change. What I am eating is giving me a good flare of IBS. I should lose.
Anagram? your grading your days? That is a good idea. Just another way to keep us on tract. Thanksgiving, will be at my daughters. I will still do part of the cooking. Maybe your daughter will buy it all ready made. I would like to do that sometime then I would be having some fun instead of being tired.. My kids are good to help though.
Mima..Have fun today. Will you be in Fl. for the Christmas season? I didn't walk this week. I did a little in the yard and around the house..
Hello everybody...Joanne

Mima 11-07-2003 06:22 AM

We are coming right after Christmas, Joanne. Still have 3 kids up North! Les Mis was awesome-we had the best seats-pd a lot for them-4th row, no one in front. The theater was only two thirds full. I cried, I just love that story-to me, it;s very spiritual, Shopped, got 2 Christmas presents and a 60$ outfit for me for 15$. We did walk a lot which is good. Gotta weigh in today but I don't think I made it unless I take off all my clothes. Not pretty. Anagram, I once bought all the food cooked and it was good. We are having 10-20 and I would like to do the same. But I have offers to bring food so I think I'll give the potatoes to someone. Have a great weekend all. Mima

anagram 11-08-2003 02:33 AM

Burning the midnight oil with Candice tonight. Had five good diet days. Did pool and gardening today. So what's wrong that I tossed for an hour and finally got up? I think it's concern w/dh's health again. BP has been creeping up, went to dr. yesterday, another pill was added but there's been no effect yet.

PLUS while I was in bed and since, somach (and lower) rumbling like crazy so I had a Slimfast bar when I came downstairs. I really didn't have all that much food yesterday and it had been about six hours by then. Don't know which is the cart and which the horse. Did rumbling keep me awake and cause anxiety or did anxiety cause rumbling? Complicated critters, we humans.

Candicej 11-08-2003 04:07 AM

Anna..I'm rumbling too!

adapted from Cooking Light Aug 1997
Cobbler for two
quick and easy to put together!

1/4 c all purpose flour
1/4 c sugar (I used splenda and it was great)
1/2 tsp baking powder (not soda)
dash of salt
1/4 c skim milk
4 tsp reduced calorie stick margarine melted (used brummel&brown in a
tub and it worked great)
cooking spray
1 c fresh berries (blue/raspberry/blackberry) (I used frozen) or other fruit (peaches
are divine)
my addition: dash or two of your favorite spice (nutmeg or ginger are
nice)

1. preheat oven to 375 degrees
2. Combine first 4 ingredients in a small bowl; stir well. Add milk and
maragrine stirring just until the flour mixture is moist. Divide batter
evenly between 2 (10 oz) custard cups coated with cooking spray. Top
each with 1/2 c fruit.
3. Bake at 375 degrees for 35 minutes or until lightly browned and fruit
topping is bubbly.

Yield: 1 - 2 servings

with splenda - 4.5 points for entire recipe ( fiestaware cereal bowl
works ) or
4.25 points for 1/2 recipe made with sugar.

I've been rumbling all week, too... due to a new medicine. Dr. did it to me again. I hate my Rheumatologist. He has done this to me over and over and over. He put me on Bextra a new arthritis medicine and didn't tell me it would cause a weight gain. He gave me enough samples to last until this week. Well it's an NSAID so I didn't really think anything about a weight gain... most of those don't have that side effect. I've been taking the stuff for a month. I took the script to CVS tonight and got all the stats back and read up on it and there it was ... the reasons for all my weird cravings the past few weeks. I was soooo mad. I took the paper in the living room and read it to hubby. Then I got even madder because he just nonchalantly says, "well, you'll just have to have more will power I guess." I actually told him to get a clue. I told him he didn't know anything. I said it's people like you who make people like me kill. He said, "WHAT are you talking about." I said, "for once in your life you need to just shut up and not say ANYTHING. You only THINK you know what you are saying but you don't have a clue. Until you have taken a medicine that makes you actually crave something you can't even begin to know what you are saying so just shut up." I just can't talk to him anymore. He makes me so mad. He doesn't even try to understand what I go through. It's like we're from different planets or something. More will power my A Double S!!!

I can't tell the stupid pills have helped at all. I'm going to take the bottle I just paid $35 for and if I don't feel any better after that bottle (I will have taken them for 2 months by then) I'm going to stop! A weight gain I DON'T need!!! Also, I have had a headache, back behind my eyes, off and on for nearly 3 weeks now. I've missed 2 days work because of it. And there it was...right on the stats paper...common side affect...headache. Sometimes I think I'd be better off just being sick with what I have and forgetting about taking any of the new medicines they come out with trying to find something that will help!!!

Mima 11-08-2003 07:12 AM

I have a problem with meds too. Prednisone gives the weird cravings but I am on a low dose. There's lots of stuff I can't take. New blood pressure med is great but I think the new arthritis med affects my libido. I don't care but not good for hubby-but then there is the stress of getting things done. I got so mad yesterday, Brad told someone he would help them and he hasn't had time to finish the painting. I hit the roof, like you did Meme. Every once in a while they need to be straightened out. Then I went to TOPS and instead of losing a quarter of a pound, I gained a quarter of a pound but now I am half a pound out. Funny. I don't care . i really want to lose 3 more anyways.

Mima 11-08-2003 07:14 AM

I wasn't finished. We are going to paint tomorrow-tile started and rug coming Tues-should be almost done then. Bye for now Mima

Happy Canuk 11-08-2003 10:41 AM

Good morning ladies.

Mima - hope you get that painting and all the renos done soon. I would be frustrated if it was just sitting there not getting done.

Meme - I took Bextra and ended up with the runs! It is the newest kid on the block, along with Celebrex and Vioxx. I didn't notice any difference in how I felt, so I quit taking it. Never really noticed an increase in cravings, but I had strong sugar cravings anyway because of the yeast problem.

Candice - Recipe sounds good. Too bad I am not eating carbs:lol:
Hope you are feeling better.

Anagram - sure hope your hubby isn't getting sick AGAIN. What a fight you two have on your hands. Worry, worry, worry.

Joanne - Hang in there. Those last couple of pounds will disappear, but they are tough.

Hi Ally - you are MIA. Hope you are feeling better.

Ally0306 11-08-2003 01:13 PM

No I am not MIA, I am in lust!!!!!!
The guy I talked about a few years ago who went back to his house is finally separated and I know it is for good now. We went out to dinner last nite and it was just such a nice time. It is amazing what love can do for your body aches. I got to bed late and normally would be in pain today but Iam up and running.
Haven't read your posts so hope all is well. Will check in tomorrow when I am not so scatter brained!!

Mima 11-09-2003 06:50 AM

Welcome back!!Glad you have something else in your life besides being a wonderful caretaker. It's nice to have a balance. Painted yesterday and taped the posts so I can paint those today. Brad is going to paint today. It's looking beautiful. Anagram-I also hope your hubby isn't getting sick again. It has been a good reprieve and I hope it lasts. Hi Anne-we are cold today too. Gotta wear my winter coat to church. Joanne-send us some warm weather. Hi Candice and Meme. Mima

MemeToo 11-09-2003 03:11 PM

Hi to you too, Mima...

Cold here, too & I had to wear a coat to church, too. Cold=pain. I'm hurting soooo bad.

Anagram, hope hubby isn't getting sick again. Seems like he just got better.

Ally...glad that's you and not me with a new love interest. Sounds exciting but something that exciting would probably kill me!

I almost made it through a whole day yesterday without anything sweet. Only had 3 cookies, though, so I'm doing better. And I only had 2 meals (and one was just toast and ham). Anne... ah, yes... and let's don't forget the runs. Just about all that stuff gives me those and this one is no exception to the rule! I didn't take it last night because of that... don't think my Teen Sunday School Class would take too kindly to being left on their own this morning while I run downstairs to the john! Not to mention if I happen to get the urge whilst I was playing the piano during the service! :p

Joanne D 11-09-2003 06:46 PM

Hey There

Well girls it has been cloudy all day. Just cool enough not to sweat.. I walked yesterday and took it easy today.. I really was too sore. I know that last few pounds seems like a lot.. I should just stop thinking about them . Then they will go away..
Ally- LUST- You got it bad girl. I hope this is the good thing for you..
Meme- What a thought that we could get caught in a bad situation like the runs when we least need them. Some meds/foods will do that to us sometimes.
Mima- I bet you can hardly wait to get your place done. That is always the best part, when you can sit back and just enjoy all your hard work.
Anagram- I sure hope your hubby is not getting sick again..Take care and know we are here for you.
Happy- You are so right . After a certain age we do end up blond. I don't know how much fun we have though. It does hide the grey and we don't have to do it as often.
Bye...Joanne
