Hi Ladies!

Thought I'd start a new thread because the old one was getting a little long. WELCOME GODSGRACE! Nice to see a new face!

Back is doing a little better. Finally got an updated physical therepy ref. so hope to start that next week. Had to go to the doc's office and "sit on em" to get the darn thing...left 7 requests via the phone. Ah well, guess they're busy and I should be grateful I got the ref. without having to have an appointment :)

Work is going okay. Back still bugs me but my boss said that I could wear sneakers. Happy about that.

Hope everyone is doing great and having a good weekend!

Deb

Hey There

Grasshopper- Sounds like things are settling down at work and your back is better.. I walked yesterday and not today. My old back is not up to par.. Tomorrow is another day...
Have a good weekend everybody...Joanne

silk lumina 09-27-2003 08:56 PM

Hi everyone!

I have been away for a few days, my son had to go to Philadelphia on business so I went with him. We left Wednesday morning and returned home on Friday night. It is a 10 hour drive from where we live so needless to say I am very tired.

Welcome Godsgrace. I haven't heard from Angel for awhile, I hope everything is alright with her.

Joanne I hope your back is feeling better, the cortizone shot I had for my back is starting to wear off already.

Grasshopper, please let me know if the physio relieves your pain?

Take care everyone
Silk

Joanne D 09-28-2003 10:21 AM

Hey There

Silk- I wonder if the Dr. hit the right spot in your back..That injection should be still working. Some Dr.'s are good at that and some aren't. Hope you feel better...Joanne

silk lumina 09-28-2003 07:29 PM

Hi Joanne, I don't know I had no pain for the first two weeks and it felt great but now the pain is coming back. I don't go back to see him until November.

Our grandaughter was here today she is 12 and all grown up. What a difference when they go from little girl to thinking they are young ladies. She is so pretty, she spent most of the time chatting with her friends on MSN. Oh well, I knew one day she would have to grow-up I'm just not ready to let her go, they grow up to fast.

My husband and I have both been fighting a cold, it seems to really hang on this time of year.

I hope all is well.

Take care
Silk

Happy Canuk 09-28-2003 07:40 PM

Hi Silk. Whenever I have Facet Joint Injections, they only lasted for 2-3 weeks and then the pain came back full force. They did inject the right place, because they want to recreate the pain when they do it and boy did they ever do it. They also have to follow the whole thing with an xray. That joint is hard to hit sometimes. The Dr. of Radiology does them here.

I haven't had any of them now for a couple of years, and found the Upper Cervical Chiropractor to be far superior.

Hope all that pain doesn't come rushing back for you.

Angel-lover 09-29-2003 10:35 AM

Hello everybody....sorry for not posting more. Been VERY busy. Also, I WAS doing my posting very early in the morning...3-4am (couldn't sleep) the last few nights, I've been so exhausted, I can't wake up.

Anyway...hope all have a good week. Hopefully, I'll finish up this week. Silk...hope you get better. Grasshopper...glad your back is better. Happy Canuk, & Joanne....take care.

Our family gave me a surprise "Angel Shower" yesterday. I collected angels for 10 yrs, & they were in the storage....at least, the ones that didn't burn. I got a lot of beautiful angels...but most of all...I felt the love. It was a real nice evening. My mother-in-law gave it for me.....ain't I lucky?;) My in-laws have always been great.

Gotta go. Take care.

Young Grasshopper 09-29-2003 06:01 PM

Hi!

Angel, that sounded so nice...an angel party! Your family sounded great. I thought about sending you an angel after your story....funny thing was with all the Christmas decorations in the house I think there's only two angels. Mom is a big fan of Hallmark and Christmas. I could have showered you with Snowment though :)

Joanne: Still haven't started physical therepy. Finally got an updated referral on friday. Tried to set it up today but they were too busy :(. Hopefully, I'll be able to get in there before the end of the week. My brother's wedding is next week and I don't want to sit out the reception. Good job on the walking!

Silk: Don't know about the Facet Point shots. I had them, with the xrays and all, and didn't find that they held that well. I had another type of injection, different doc and insurance, and that one held for 6 mths. Walked out feeling "normal". Think I'm going to try that doc again once I get insurance and if the PT doesn't help. I must be getting old because I still think of 13 as young

Canuck: Glad to see ya! Checked into that type of chiroprator...only two in the state. :( Heard that there's a great acupunturist (sp?) that all the nurses use at the hospital. Might check that out :)

Hope this finds everyone well :) Have a great week!

Deb

silk lumina 09-29-2003 06:51 PM

Hi it was so nice to hear from everyone today. Angel, I have missed your posting. It sounds like you had a lovely angel party, and I am sure it was well deserved.

Happy Canuck, I know what your talking about with the pain coming back after the shots, it is like I never had it done. I am so disappointed.

Grasshopper, I hope you get your referral by the end of the week and I wish you great success.

Joanne, thanks for your concern, the doctor that did it is suppose to be the best around here but I will look into it further.

I will post later, hope all is well.

Take care
Silk

Joanne D 09-29-2003 07:59 PM

Hey There

Grasshopper- I hope you get in to therapy and get relief. I remember once telling a Dr. that I thought therapy was a waste of money. He agreed with me!..He sent me anyway. I went for two sessions and told them to give me a sheet and I would do them myself. $30. above insurance was just too much. They wanted me to go 3 times a week. Not me.
Silk- Hope you are feeling better.
Angel- I think that Angel party was just a wonderful thing for them to do for you.You are blessed.. Keep well.
Happy- I walked again tonight 3 miles as usual. I know I could have not walked any more than that.. We felt our first cool air today. They say the low will be 66 tonight . We'll see...
Bye....Joanne

Young Grasshopper 09-30-2003 04:40 PM

Hi All!

Know what you mean about the $30.00 per visit, Joanne. That's what it's going to cost me. I think I'm going to check it out (I'm supposed to get a massage and whirlpool with it but we'll see) - not worth it if it's something I can just do on my own.

Glad to see everyone is up and about! :) Now what happened to our new member???? Hope she's still around!

Have a great day!

Deb

Joanne D 09-30-2003 07:15 PM

Hey There

Grasshopper- That was $30 per visit above what insurance paid. No whirlpool or anything. Just supervision for some exercise. Bull on that. I am still able to read instructions . I am 70 not dead!Down here there are a lot of retirees .So they put everyone on the same page and think we all are senile... I hate it.I had a eye exam yesterday. .You would think that the Dr. was talking to a very old person so she had to space her words to be sure I understood everything she said.. I almost laughted in her face.
Don't know where everyone is. Busy I guess...
Hello everyone and any lurkers jump right in...We love your input.
Bye,Joanne:wave:  :joker: :grouphug:

godsgrace 10-02-2003 09:32 AM

Hi everyone!!! I have'nt posted for awhile, I've been very busy . All the kids took turns getting sick this week:tired: I got the results back for my testosterone testing.Everything was normal.Thank God!! Had it been pcos I would have to deal with it for the rest of my life. Now I'm back to square one though. Do any of you know if an ovarian cyst can cause weight gain?
I hope you all are having a wonderful week

Mindi:angel:

Joanne D 10-02-2003 10:20 AM

Hey

Just checking in...I have to weigh in tonight. I am afraid there will not be a loss. A least my scales say so.. I have be good all week. One little minor thing that I thought would not matter but it must..
Godsgrace- PCOS???I have been a nurse more than half my life and I can't quite get that one..If the cysts are benign fibroids there possibly would be a small wt. gain. My daughter had surgery this year and they took about 3 lbs out of her as well as her uterus. She weighs under 100 lbs.
Illness always goes through the house when there are children involved...I am far past the child bearing age, but, you never forget...
It hads been a good but busy week for me.
Hello everybody. Stay well...Joanne

Joanne D 10-03-2003 10:36 AM

Hey There

Now I am confused= My scales fooled me yesterday. Tops scales said I was down 1 1/2 lbs. I hope they are right. I felt like I had a loss..I am now recorder for our group and I think it was a good thing to get me more involved. I need that..They say I need to talk louder though. I never had that problem before. I am a vocal person. My sister always said I talked too loud.. Maybe I am not as relaxed as I should be..
I finished a blanket I was crocheting since the middle of summer. All white. I think I got it a little large in width. Oh well one of my kids will get it someday...In the meantime it will be nice on my bed..Now back to the quilt I am working on and also the many projects I enjoy...I keep busy most of the time.
My hubby is outside greasing the pole to the bird feeder. His squirrels are getting up there and draining the feeder and chasing off the birds..I'll probably cut back the branches of the orchid tree that is about 8 feet away. You know! those suckers can jump at least 10 feet to where they want to go.. I may get a feeder that will close when they get on it. But ,they are &80.and he doesn't want me to spend that. Maybe ,I will put it on my Christmas list..
Hello everybody. Keep well. Joanne

Young Grasshopper 10-03-2003 11:28 PM

Hi Ladies,

Another bad day for me. Stayed home due to the back. :( Finally got an appointment for PT though. Hope it helps.

Hope everyone is doing well.

Angel-lover 10-04-2003 10:49 AM

Hello everybody...almost finished with paper work. I think I should get paid, instead of the lawyer.;)
I had a Remicade treatment Thursday, so been "out of it" for a couple of days.

Grasshopper...I'm so sorry you're having so much trouble with your back. You may need to think about drawing disability. I know it's a hassle, but after it's finally over, it's worth it. I was in my 30's when I injured my back. They fought me a long time....but I hung in there, & proved by drs that I couldn't hold a job full time. When I finally did get it going, they owed all the back time. I had rather be able to work...but just wasn't able. I don't know your situation, but it's a thought.

Joanne...congrats on the weight loss. I know....the scales keep me confused, also. My drs scales make me really mad, sometimes...they're 6 to 10 lbs more than mine. That's the thing, though, never just 6, or 10. If they would stay the same, I could just add what I knew they would be at the drs. Anyway, mine at home & at the drs, showed another 6 lbs gone after I reached my goal a couple of weeks ago. I guess it's the stress.

Godsgrace...I don't remember if I welcomed you or not....sorry. Just been through a lot, lately. You are VERY welcome here....enjoyed reading your posts.

Silk....where are you? I've had you on my mind, lately. Tell me how you're doing. I don't want you to be offline a whole month!:(
You better miss us!!!!!

Everybody....have a good weekend.

Hey There

Hello Everybody- I pulled some weeds this am. As I can't get down or stoop ai have to bend over. Not so good but I got done what I wanted to. I also walked 3 Miles to the beach this evening. I doubt I will be moving so good tomorrow,at least till noon. Every step is painful, but I won't give in to it.
Grasshopper. I sure hope you can find some releif for your back. I have had been there and know what it is all about.
Angel- I know the Dr's scales are always set higher than ours. I just make up my mind to go by mine or TOPS. I have a few more pounds to a goal that I want to be at. I have been trying real hard lately..
Hello Godgrace and silk..Hope you are well...Joanne

Young Grasshopper 10-05-2003 02:33 PM

Hi All!

Back is feeling better today...guess the true test will be how I feel after work tomorrow. I've thought about filing for disability but to be honest my back isn't as bad as it was. On the other hand, I can't really seem to work a full week without having problems. Haven't seen a doc in a while because I have no insurance. Ah...makes me long for the health system in Canada.

Joanne, sounds like you're out and about. Wish I lived closer to the beach...might give me incentive to take a walk. Then again, the hospital where I work is right near a harbor...guess I don't have too many excuses.

Angel...know what you mean about the paperwork. Thought about becoming a lawyer myself after doing some legwork for my grandfather. Pretty tedious. Sometimes I think they make the paperwork a hassle so you'll give up sooner.

Well, my brother's wedding is in a week. Got the dress and looking forward to the wedding. Looking forward to when all the madness is over! lol. Will be great to see the whole family. I'm trying to decide whether to go with boxy low heels or a higher heel. Shoot, with all my back problems you'd think vanity would take a back seat :). Might just bring both pairs of shoes.....

Hope everyone has a great week! Fall is moving in and I love this season! Wish I had a fireplace...love the smell of wood smoke on a cold morning.

Deb

Hey There

Grasshopper- I get out to walk as much as I can.. Headache for the past 2 days has kept me close to home.. I guess change of weather and pollen in the air..It is still in the 80's during the day here.. I am waiting for the cool weather..Glad your back is better.Try to do some walking when you can..

HI EVERYBODY...CAN'T STAY...AT STATION. MY MONITOR BLEW THIS MORNING....BE BACK ASAP!!!

Young Grasshopper 10-08-2003 09:07 PM

Wow! Sorry to hear about your monitor! Hope you get it fixed or replaced real soon, Angel. You'll be missed!

Family is coming in for the wedding! House it nuts! (but in a good way!) Hope everyone has a great week!

Deb

Angel-lover 10-10-2003 07:50 AM

Hi everybody....I'm back again...I'm beginning to think this house is jinxed! We moved the pc to the other side of the room...getting ready to put new windows in....when we plugged everything up, the monitor came on! I think DH was as happy as I was! I've been sorta bored....nothing to do. I think I'd been following him around a little too much.

Grasshopper, I hope the wedding goes well. I know what you mean about the shoes. I, not only have a bad back, but RA. My feet hurt, even from houseshoes. I went shopping last week for some winter shoes...a pair for weekdays...& a pair for dress. Summer shoes hadn't been such a problem....just comfy slip-ons. But, almost didn't find anything for winter. A lot of them, I liked, but hurt my feet. The sales people couldn't understand, because they were all ordinarily comfortable shoes. Hope they never do understand.....if you know what I mean. I wouldn't want anyone to deal with RA.

Joanne, hope your headache is better. Maybe you can get back to walking soon...I know you like it so much.

Hello to Canuck & Silk & God's Grace....

My images aren't showing up on my pc...maybe, you can see them...(don't know what's gonna happen next!:?:

Hey There

I guess moving the pc to a different area might have jared something just enough to make it work. I hope it lasts for you Angel.. I am down another pound. This is such a slow process for me. But I am getting 'younger' so what can I say...Everything slows down.
Grasshopper. I hope everything will go well with the wedding. Wear your comfortable shoes and don't give it a thought. You are going to have fun not be in pain for fashion.
Hello everybody.. Hope you have a Great Weekend....Joanne

HEY JOANNE....DOWN ANOTHER LB! THAT'S GREAT! http://www.gilly.0catch.com/emoticons/cheer.gif THAT'S HOW MY WEIGHT LOSS WENT. ONE OR TWO LBS A WEEK.... I FINALLY REACHED MY GOAL OF 35 LBS ABOUT 3 WEEKS AGO. I'VE LOST 7 MORE LBS SINCE...PROBABLY BECAUSE OF STRESS.

GRASSHOPPER...HOPE ALL GOES WELL

SILK...WOULD LIKE TO HEAR FROM YOU!

Hey There

Angel-Lover-- Good for you. It is so satisfing to reach a goal you want. I have been on this SBD for a month and so far just 6 lbs off. It has been slow for me. I have only cheated once. I had some cake for my son's B/D. My SIL has lost 18 in the same time frame. I think it is always harder the last 5-10 lbs. I am going to change my walking time as it gets dark sooner now. I haven't walked as much as I should lately for one reason or another.
Grasshopper- How was the wedding?
Hello everybody.....Joanne

Angel-lover 10-16-2003 07:58 PM

Hi everybody...been a couple of days since I was here...looks like the same for all of you...don't let the thread die...Silk will be back soon, & needs our support! I need our support! :dizzy:

Just been busy & have to admit...get a little depressed & that makes me kinda lazy. Gotta snap out of it...get on with life.

Grasshopper...how's the back doing? Hope you're better. How was the wedding? Tell us all about it.

Joanne...It must be so nice to live close to the beach! Is it still warm enough to go for your walks? I hope so, I know you enjoy them so much.

Canuck...I know you didn't eat so much turkey, you can't post a little. Let us know how you're doing.

Silk...If you happen to get a chance to see...WE MISS YOU!!!!

Hey There

Angel- I have to get motivated to get out more.. I love going to the beach to walk. It is a long walk though, 3 miles from my house. I think I am going to start going out there and walking the circle like some of the other people my age. That way I will have more control about how far I walk. If I want to stop after 30-40 min. I can . Otherwise it is a full hour of walking. For over 5 years it has been a easy walk..But...Lately it seems to be getting harder..I lost 1 1/2 lbs this week. My hubby and I went out to Goldem Corral to eat after the Tops meeting. I did well until I say the cheese cake..I had one small piece..Back to SBD tomorrow..
Angel, Try to look at the bright side. We all have so much to be thankful for...
Hello everybody, Angel is right ..Let us know how you are and how you are doing...Lurkers,Join us. We all can help each other..

HI EVERYBODY...

YES, JOANNE...I DO HAVE A LOT TO BE THANKFUL FOR...& I AM. I GUESS THAT'S ONE THING THAT DOES KEEP ME GOING. WE WERE PROMISED WE WOULDN'T HAVE MORE PUT ON US THAN WE COULD BARE...SO I'LL MAKE IT. THANKS FOR THE REMINDER, I NEEDED IT.
I THINK IT'S A GOOD IDEA, ALSO, FOR YOU TO TAKE THE CIRCLE. IF YOU'RE HAVING PROBLEMS WALKING AS FAR AS YOU USE TO. IT'S BAD TO NEED TO STOP & STILL HAVE FARTHER TO GO. I EXPERIENCE THAT WITH RA & MY FEET HURTING WHILE JUST OUT TAKING CARE OF SHOPPING NEEDS, ETC. TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF.

HOPE ALL HAVE A GOOD FRIDAY!

Happy Canuk 10-17-2003 11:26 AM

Hi everybody. Haven't been posting much. Trying to off a trip to the chiro., but I think he will win:lol: I have been having trouble sitting. My butt muscles really hurt - a lot - that is the Fibro. speaking, then my lower back is out of whack, that is the arthritis speaking. Can't win. With EVERY season change, these things just seem to take over for a little while. I am making an appointment with the chiro this morning and hope to get in today or tomorrow.

Angel - glad to see you are back and feeling a little better. You have had a rough go of it the past while. You are absolutely right! We are NEVER given more than we can handle, but at times, things get away from people and they CAN'T handle it, due to depression or pain. I am a pretty even keeled person. I don't have depression, thank goodness (I feel I have been blessed because of that. I DO have a LOT of pain, but my body seems to fight of the depression that goes along with it.)

Grasshopper - I hope you are having better days at work. Nothing fun about working with a back that is beyond hurting. The pain just keeps building upon the pain. I guess if you find you can't do it, you can try to apply for disability. I am not sure what you have in the USA.

Joanne - I still wish we lived close enough to sit down at a real table and have a real cup of coffee. I KNOW I would love to sit and chat with you. Angel and grasshopper and silk could join us. You are such a dedicated walker and you are doing so great on this new diet. I am sure proud of you. Go Girl!!!

I hope Silk has gotten moved without to much hastle. She should be back with us by the end of the month, I think. I hope she is doing ok.

Sorry Angel for being so lax about posting. Will try to do better. You are right Joanne. The LURKERS are welcome to come join us. The more the merrier.

Happy Canuk 10-17-2003 02:57 PM

Well here is something for you to go play with - a really cute kitten. I wish I could make graphics like this!

Go to this site (link is below) to see something great!

If you tease the cat with the mouse pointer on her chest or stomach she will purr,
she will meow also, by rubbing her forehead with the pointer.

If you make a slow circle around her body, not only will her head/eyes follow the cursor, but toward the top, her paw will go up, and when in front of her paws at the bottom, her foot comes out like she wants to play with your mouse pointer. . .

No Angel-lover you aren't alone. It must be the time of year, but everywhere on the net seems slow, slow, slow. I guess people are out enjoying the Fall weather or whatever.

I hope things are going well for you. I could have come to talk to you during the night last night:lol: I was awake until after 3:30 a.m. Took a couple of pills for pain and they kept me awake, but because there is a muslce relaxant in them, my body was rested. I sure hope I sleep well tonight. It is raining here. That could turn to snow at the drop of a hat.

Sorry you felt lonely. Sometimes you have to yell really loud to make me hear:lol:

Angel-lover 10-20-2003 10:17 PM

http://www.addis-welt.de/smilie/smil...ted_smilie.gif I'm so happy you dropped in! Sorry you had a bad night. There's a lot of nights I wake up about 2:30 or 3:30 & can't go back to sleep. I get up & go on computer. We may "bump" into each other some morning!

Guess you noticed the new Avatar...found it & thought it was kinda cute...so I put my name on it for awhile! Still have the other one saved for later use. I really enjoyed it.

We just mostly get rain. Wish we could get more snow than usual this year. It might cheer me up a bit. Most of the time, the rain freezes & we just can't go anywhere! I had a lot of fun with the cat...three of my little granddaughters were here Saturday & we played with it. They loved it!

Well...hope you have a better night.

Hey There

Angel Lover- I guess we all are out looking for inspiration. I know I am. I don't always reply but I am here about every day. I don't want to bore anyone with the same old same old. I walked yesterday. I still want to maintain my 3 miles. I got home and made supper then took a long hot soak. I just sit in the water and read a chapter of whatever book is currently in my hand. I wish sometimes I had a pool or hot tub. My bones ache so bad sometimes. I don't like to take medication if I can get away from it.I got up last night and took something at 1 in the a.m.
It has been nice here in Fl. We should get some cooler weather this week. No rain though. We are not getting any lately. We need it here at my place.
Happy- Have you ever been down here?Hope you have a better night...Bye...Joanne

Angel-lover 10-22-2003 11:03 PM

Hi everyone....had a long, eventful day yesterday. Had drs appointment early this morning. He was very happy with the weightloss! 42 lbs! Got my flu shot. Got fluid pill...even my soft socks make my legs swell! But, to sum it all up...was a pretty good report. This is my general practitioner.

Then, met with one of my daughters, Trina, & we went shopping. This is something I hardly ever do anymore...not usually able. Felt pretty good today! DH wanted me to buy my Christmas present I asked for...suede jacket. My jackets were all stolen. (had a few!) Still have Leather coat, & so does DH. But, I needed something to wear with pants & jeans. Love the jacket! Found a couple of angel, of course. Other friends who hadn't been able to come to the Angel Shower had given me money to pick out what I wanted...that's fun too! I've also received more angels...lost count now. So, back to my day...bought Trina a new outfit...she's just started back to church...so...wanted to help encourage her. Bought her 2 pair of bell-bottom hip-huggers...oh, & bought myself identical to hers. (I can't help it...she insisted!! ) I can remember the days when she & her twin sister, Gina, would beg me to stop wearing them! How times change. Anyway, finally got home around 6 pm. DH beat me home...but didn't complain. I'm tiiiiiiiiiirrrrreeeddd!

Today...I went to station...then went to eat with manager/friend, Connie, & bought groceries. Seem to be on a roll. Haven't been this energetic in awhile!

Joanne...you're never boring. Just stop by & say hello, if you don't have anything else to say. I wish you had a Jacuzzi tub...that helps me a lot! I get the water as hot as I can stand & lay back & nap!

Hello to Grasshopper & Happy Canuk!
Check in tomorrow!

Well, I am tired today. I went to my old city (100 miles away) and saw my Dr. I have an inner ear infection and sinus infection, so onto antibiotics! I was so busy doing so much stuff yesterday and I was tired because we had to leave by 6:15 a.m. My day was filled, but I did squeeze in some time to go shopping:lol: Got a couple pairs of pants and some sweaters. Just getting ready for winter. I should NOT shop when I am feeling cold. I also stopped and used up my last water massage prepay. It gave me a chance to lay down for 1/2 an hour and it really did feel good. I don't know if any of you have tried it. It is a heated bed, with water as the massage tool. It runs under a heave vinyl cover. Anyway, most relaxing. Did 50 other things as well. Never got home until 7:00 p.m.

I do have a sinus headache today, but hopefully that will pass.

Angel - glad you got your coat. Sounds nice. The angel party was pretty special for you, and it sure shows that your friends and relatives care a great deal about you. Nice to have gotten some money to buy a few you come across.

Joanne - I know you will reach your goal. Just be patient and let the diet work for you. Don't you feel like you have more energy when you get all the refind sugar and foods out of your system? You feel kind of draggy for the first week as it clears out, but it is worth it.

Hopefully, Silk will be back with us soon. She said the end of the month.

Hello grasshopper - hope your back is holding up.

Everyone have a great day.
