But we are bringing him to FL with us. They are wonderful pets. The carpenter showed up yesterday to work on the front stairs-should have sheetrock up today-been cleaning because we are having company tomorrow night. Feels good to do that. Good morning!!!My computer is messed up. I got back on Earthlink but now I can'tget on the DSL. So I can't stay on for long. We are having company to play cards tonight. Going to make a dinner of hors d'ouvres first and then play-and then dessert. The stairs are still under construction. What a week for problems-it seems everyone has something big going on. My SIL is still dealing with her dad. I want to go to the hospital to take her to lunch but so far, she doesn't want to. I'll try again. Everyone else-remember-this too will pass,. Mima

Mom transferred tonursing home yesterday. Supposed to be "temporary" for rehab. We'll see. I feel more comfortable with her there than had she gone home - really don't think she could have.

Nice place really. DS is on staff there and had everything coordinated beautifully. She'll be able to follow here there too - a big plus. One DB was there as well - he's our little charmer, a psych/human relations type and knows how to motivate. She didn't want to go, of course, but did so graciously with not a tear.

And I did the paperwork. One of the blessings of a large family - I don't know how an only child can handle all involved. Must be really tough.

Kids are coming up today to see Grandma. Home is an hour and a half to an hour and three quarters away. That's the bad part. I plan to go with them today and then skip quite a while. Many others (grandchildren), two more also coming today. So another DB will delay his visit till this evening.

I'm exhausted and trying to eat healthfully but not eating to lose weight and certainly no exercise. Need that good medicine from my grandbabies (also coming). I shall collapse on Monday and sleep as long as I dare.

Candice- It is harder for the men to let go. If they were doing the cleaning uo and so forth it would be reality . For your pets sake try to convince your hubby. You can get him another pet. My brother gets all his dogs from the pound.

Candice....I just spent $138 at the vet. My old cocker is the one who had his speen taken out last year. Cost me $1000 and I prayed for one more year. He is almost there but we were commenting today that he is senile, deaf, arthritic. But he still enjoys life and that is essential. When he doesn't I will know that it is time to do what I wish we could do legally for humans. My heart goes out to you..... I told the vet today that most of the time I like my dogs better than my kids.

I have heard so many people say they wouldn't have a pet because they are too much trouble and young people can't be bothered to go to family reunions or decorations anymore ... too busy to sit and talk to the older members of the family. But those people don't know what they are missing out on. Life isn't just about making money and having more stuff!!! As for the nursing home ... they're good if you really have to have them but I hope and pray that I never really have to have one!!! And you're right, Anagram, It's nearly impossible for one to do it all!!! Been there - done that!

Candice ... sometimes a person or a pet has no quality of life left and their loved ones keep them alive for themselves ... I think I've done that with a few pets! I could never pull the plug on a person, though. I don't care how sick they were. I think only God should pull the plug. Now if that person was brain-dead it would be a different situation. But as long as they were cognitive I could never be the one who ended their life. All Sami eats most of the time is canned dog food...kind of expensive for a golden retriever!

Oh...about that bathing suit...that's the kind I finally wound up buying. It's pretty and doesn't look too bad but I wish I could have bought a slinky purple one!!!

Good morning-got the computer straightened out but all I get is ads for Viagra on my old mail address-getting rid of it-that's how I got the virus on my laptop. Talked to my SIL and she said herfather was going to go home today-amazing-they put in a pacemaker. Last week he had a cardiac arrest. Wicked tired today-we had company for cards last night and I woke up at my usual time but did not go to bed at my usual time. Anagram-I'm glad that she is in a nursing home-that's a relief. Test being done this coming wednesday.. Like a lot of people I am not looking forward to it ,but, I am keeping a positve attitude,Or trying to. I really feel that whatever it is that is making all the trouble is minor and will be resolved with an expensive med. As always. My meds and my husbands combined cost us over $ 500 a month. Now on a fixed income that is not easy. I just don't spend a lot of money that I would like to.
After working in Nursing Homes for over 18 years and trying the best I could to do for patients that the families seemed to have forgotten, I surely do not want to go to one. I got to the point I could not stand the site of my work place. It was" burn out". My children say that will not happen. I have to be realistic. I know what it is to try till there was no other way.

Joanne...Good luck on the tests. I worked in a nursing home when I was 16...it was awful. Young kids like me who had little compassion, or understanding. I had to visit one of our clients at work in a nursinghome and I had read how much they had improved this place since I worked there. No way. Same smells, same people in the hallway in wheelchairs looking like they are so uncomfortable. Here was a wierd thing they did that still bothers me. They would take some of the severely demented or Parkinson's patients who no longer talked or participated in activities and they would dress them up for Halloween in stupid outfits and push them into the cafeteria and take their pictures. Please don't ever do that to me.

The bees are still here..what is left of them cause I sprayed them too...they lke to ahng out in the water bowls and my watering cans. I know you are not supposed to kill them but I do not know how to get rid of them. I mean there are a lot of them and when you are outside the hit you in the face.

The dog still holding her own but messy poop now! Yuck.....Dh does not want to put her down so I am trying to talk him into it but he wants me to talk to the vet today. He thinks she will be fine with my care...well my care is about to do me in and asked him if he wanted me to have a meltdown....of course he said no but he still does not understand. All your words are very comforting. Taking care of the dog is all I get done! She has been such a good pet but we noticed her slipping this spring really bad and compared to a year ago she has no quality of life..(my opinion) She can no longer take walks or climb the stairs, play with the cats, wag her tail or even bark. She just sleeps eats and poops!

Oh Candice-what a dilemma. I think talking to vet is going to help. We had a nice restful day yesterday. I have to get ready to go away for 6 days-next weekend we are going to a mission conference-and then I work for 4 days. Come home and work for 2 more. Nursing homes-I seem to have spent my whole life visiting people in them. My MIL being the last-and I'm sure there will be more. I used to be the only one to visit my grandmother and she was there for a long time. But sometimes you just need to have people there. It looks like it's going to be a good wek weather wise. My house is nice and clean from having the company. Now I should have time for other projects. hope someone shows up today to work on the stairs!!!Bye for now-Mima

Ally- Dressing up for holidays is not the half of it.
Candice- You must have a bee hive somewhere near..They go after the water because of the making of honey. I have read where some people put out a pan of salted water for the bees. Maybe if you put a bucket of water out away from your porch they will go to that. They need the water ,that is why they are going to your plants.
I would be inclined to go over the hubby's head and help ypur pet by just taking him to the vet and having him put to sleep. You might have the vet explain things to him. Or just refuse to be the one to do it all. I wouldn't do it.
Mima- It is nice when we get all caught up and can enjoy doing just what we want to. But look out something always crops up.

ONE MORE WEEK 'TILL SCHOOL STARTS- HALLELULIA!

Candice ... I'll bet your husband thinks the house is self cleaning, too! Sami usually only eats 2 cans a day plus she'll eat a little bag of that 'moist & chewy' beef & cheese stuff and then maybe some meat scraps. She's just like most humans ... she eats more some days than others.

I'M IN MAJOR PAIN.

Hi gals.

I went for my Dr. appointment on Tuesday and ended up in the Emergency ward at the hospital. For some time I have been have a heart rhythm problem, but by the time I got to have an ECG it was finished so it was not detected. On Tuesday, I woke up with a pounding heart, drove 100 miles for my appointment, and my rather busy day. Went to the Dr. first to see about my ear (again) and asked him about this pounding heart (it was now 10:30). He sent me to Emergency to have a test done. Ha!!! they through me in a wheelchair and took me to a bed and hooked me up to an IV and a heart monitor. Then they came in and did and ECG (actually did 3 of them in just a little while) and then they shoved a needled into my side at the stomach area (blood thinner). I ended up staying in the hospital until Friday afternoon. The Dr. needed me there while he started me on a med called Sotalol that is used to treat serious heart rhythm distrubances. This will now be a lifetime thing. Apparently, they were worried I might have a stroke, because the heart was beating so fast. It was not pumping blood to the upper chambers and the pooling blood in there breaks of as clots. Sounded scarry to me . Just another thing added to the growing list. I am at very low risk however, because I don't have high blood pressure or high cholestrol.

Candice - I think the kindest thing you can do for your dog is to let it go. I know it is a hard thing to do, but gosh I hate to watch them suffer. Men are worse than women about that. My cousins little poodle was blind and messing around in the house but her hubby didn't want to put her down. She looked after her for awhile, then said ok, you want to keep her going, YOU can clean up after her and watch her stumble everywhere. It took two days and she was released.

I will read and catch up. I just hope that you are all well and that you all had a good weekend.

Happy- I have to say you really had a weekend to remember...I know how scary that irregular heart beat is.You mean you had to drive 100 miles to a doctor? I totally agree about putting a pet to sleep when nothing of value can be done. Candice should let her hubby take care of the dog. He wants to keep it. After my hubby had to share the care of a sick animal,the problem was solved.
Meme- I bet a few zillion mothers and care givers are shouting for joy with the opening of school in the next weeks. It is freedom time for a few hours a day.
