Hey There
I managed to do 35 min. on the treadmil (1 1/2 miles) and kept my points under 25. Now if I can do better tomorrow..
Motivation!!! I have to hang on to it.. Bye... Joanne:wave: |
Way to go Joanne-I'm weighing in this am but I didn't walk yesterday-I'm also wheezing from all the construction dust-he had to saw inside yesterday but today it's nice today-going to take my girlfriend to lunch. Bye for now. Mima
|
Keep motivated, Joanne. And have a Happy Easter again this weekend.
I'm sure you'll be so glad when it's all done, Mima. Lunch sounds good. I'm planning to go to the pool today - first time in a good while. Have been walking every day and a half hour of gardening a day as well. If I do it in small amounts, I can tolerate it more. If I do too much, I have to stop doing everything until I feel better. Food's been pretty good, on average, this week. Ate out yesterday so was a little more than some days, I think. But today I think I'll be pretty good, just have that feeling. Are you all done with your redecorating projects, Meme? Anne, hope job's going well. Also miss you. Candice, you got carried away with that gardening, didn't you? I do miss being able to do a lot of it as it was a great stress reliever for me at one time. Got a nice long handled tool that has helped me a lot this year. It's a tiny rake, hoe, shovel combo. Dh saw eye dr yesterday. Pressure up in eyes again and concerned for optic nerve. Changed one of the eye drops to stronger. Recheck in three weeks. |
WHEW...had to read both pages of this thread to try to get caught up...don't know what I missed on the last thread but don't have time to go back and see right now. I'm still using my laptop and I hate typing on it so I'll keep it brief. Hopefully I'll get my computer hooked back up to cable this weekend sometime. My room is almost all back together...still have some doors to put back up and the curtains have to be ironed and put back. Can't hook up the cable because I moved the furniture around and the cable cord is coming up in the far corner...which is where a lot of the other furniture is stacked in the basement...so we have to get everything put back before hubby can get to that corner to run the cable cord up through the floor. He was coming through with a box of stuff last night and just stopped in the middle of the living room and looked at me and said, "I don't think we will ever get all the stuff put back where it belongs." I told him that if we have to do all this again, next time it will be one room at a time...once a month or something. I can't do it half the house at a time like we did this time...it's just too much!
I have Ross today and he has not been having a good week. Daughter said he has been angry all week. We shall see, I guess. Gotta go hang some pictures and empty some more boxes...my back hurts...knees...ankle is much worse-next step surgery ... hands and wrists are TERRIBLE. New gold medicine has really done a job on my stomach, too ...have had to stop taking it in the mornings. Have only had 1 migraine, though, and it wasn't severe. Ally...you might should talk to your Dr. about the Topamax. I've been sleeping better since I've been on the Nortryptyline, too. Hi to Joanne's sister and the new Gail. We're a motley crew but you know what they say... misery loves company! :p |
Hey There
I will be glad when this weekend is finished, although ,I like to cook and I always cook too much and then have to give it away or sometimes freeze it. I will eat till it is gone. Not Good ,for weight control. I'll send some to my niece and some home with family.
Anagram, If it isn't one thing it will be another. Keep the faith. That long handled tool for gardening sounds like a winner. I'll have to look for one. My Hubby thinks a person has to get down on their knees and use the hands to be effective. Mima , I watched the program that was on the Montel show. I seldom watch any of those shows as they are usually too dramatized. It was pretty good. It was followed with a Opra show on the same subject. Not a whole lot of information ,just praising what has been done. I guess if I lost 1-3 hundred lbs I would do a lot of jumping up and down too. Got to get busy..Slept late this A M. But ,I guess when you are retired it doesn't matter...Joanne |
Hello
Welcome Gail. I hope you enjoy our little corner of the world.
Work - sure don't know about this. Have been in such pain the past couple of weeks - like it used to be a way back when. Everything that can hurt, does. I may NOT be able to handle this. I have already had to ask for a reduction in hours. It was supposed to be 15 hrs. a week, and she had me doing 20+. That was just too much; however, it seems that the 15 is now to much. I have only worked two 4 hr. shifts this week and I hurt so bad - from my shoulders to my lower back. Somehow, I am in a flare here. Legs feel like stumps and my arms are so sore. Well enough of this bellyaching. I asked for it! If I can't handle it, I will just have to quit, or try to find something that does not require so much standing. I have to work on the weekend (two long shifts) so this just might be the end for me:lol: Candice - nice for you to be able to get back into your garden. Just take it SLOW!!!! Can't someone else do all that digging? Mima - That sawdust would be a killer. Hope they finish soon. Joanne - Have a Happy Easter this weekend. Anagram - I have to start to try to get back to the pool as well. Hope things go well for both of you. Meme - I don't know how you can live in the house. I hate the smell of new carpets and paint. Both make me feel ill. Glad you are ALMOST there! Sick or not, it is nice to have a 'new' house. Ally - Don't let those teens get to you:lol: Sooooon, Ally, they will be young men! Everyone have a great day. |
The pool was great today - 96 degrees and all those aches and pains appreciated it. Of course it made me sleepy as it always does. I decided to go get my hair done directly from the pool because I felt I'd never make myself go back out if I went home and got cleaned up. I'd just want to nap. Well, I did almost fall asleep while the girl was drying my hair.
So I came home and rested and then dh and I went to K-Mart and picked up 8 bags of pine nuggets to start mulching. I did pine nuggets last year insted of tan bark and was quite pleased with the effect and the way we started out this year so I want to add more. Did my half hour in the yard again. That's my goal. Do not want to hurt. I agree with your dh, Joanne, but gotta do what I can. I feel that way about washing floors too but now that it's me or the floors, that went too. Well, time for din-din. |
Meme.........that was what you called brief! I could not handle all that constuction and moving stuff...we have not done stuff around here for years!
Happy..I wondered how you could handle that....I sure wish I could work, but know an outside the home job would cause too many pain problems so I am not even attempting it anymore. Used to sub al the time but had to be doped up on so many meds to do it! Joanne...http://www.oprah.com/tows/coming/tow...ml...........I love hearing these success stories. Sounds like you and I have Christmas weight to lose;) Anagram...I could not get all I need to do in the yard done if I only worked for 30 minutes! We live on 2 acres in the country and I am the only one that will do anything around here...Dh has the attitude he works outside the home so he should not work around the home...too tired! Hope your DH gets his eye pressure taken care of. Mima..hope your wheezing is under control..how was your lunch? |
Hey There
Candice- I have managed to lose the Easter wt. and now I am trying to get below the last weigh in weight. I will have better luck after sunday.
I managed to walk 40 min on treadmil yesterday. It is so hard to do that much on a treadmil. I have been having some dizzy spells so I am afraid to walk out by myself lately. Sometimes ,I think the best part of the day is after 6 pm. I have done just about everything I have to and if I have managed to stay within my points that is better. It will be hard tomorrow. Have a good weekend everybody...Joanne |
Happy....Yes, teens turn into men. And I'm not crazy about them either:dizzy:
I paid my exboyfriend (will still and forever call him ex cause I think that is what he will continue to be) to fix some things inclusing my sump pump. Sump pump has died, basement is full of water. He has promised to be over here for 4 weekends in a row, and no show. Arghghghghg. Will have to pay someone else. I am thinking of selling this house and buying another. THis is scary. I have had to pay people to fix this tiny little house, hate to think what will happen when I am older and alone. Going to Anger Management today at the movies. Hope it is funny. I need a laugh. |
Hi
Joanne, sorry to hear that you are not feeling so good. It is so hard to get back on track after a big event, like Christmas, Easter, etc.
Candice - Don't starve yourself!! Working in the garden and just being a bit more active will help you to get rid of it. It is the season:lol Anagram - I used cedar chips when we landscaped our yard and I loved them. The smell after a rain, or after a good watering was worth the money. I think pine chips would be good too. The both look really nice. We always put the plastic under them for weed control, but I am NOT sure that it really worked:lol Still was out there pulling the darn things. Ally - I think you need a new man. Go SHOPPING a find yourself a good, reliable one:lol Those boys will grow up to be nice men - they just need lots of time to get there!! It took my son until he was 24 and then all of a sudden a HUGE change. He became responsible and actually started to practice all the stuff he was taught from the time he was young. There is ALWAYS hope:lol Hi Meme - hope you're feeling better today. Just don't overdo it. I don't know if I EVER want to go back to owning my own home. I like this renting business. No money spent in fixing the thing up and no property taxes to pay. Both ways have there good points. Yes, I don't get equity, but I get interest on the money from the sale of our house. Hmmm, have to think about this one again. It is truly a MISERABLE day here today. The wind is howling and blowing hard; it is slushing out there (my word for snow and rain that is not sleet :lol) It is kind of like snowballs falling out of the sky! It is just plain unpleasant out there. This has been going on since last night. Started out as rain and then turned to snow and now just slushing. It is just at freezing and I am hoping the roads are ok, as I have to go driving on them in about an hour from now. Hope you all have a great day. |
Well we had the same kind of day yesterday but it's clearing up-walls in the kitchen are done-just wallpaper and trim left. I finished scraping messy grout job in bathroom. When I sold my house Anne, I figured it both ways and it came out sort of even . Anyhow, I wanted to stay in town so I bought a condo-now we rent it out for 800 a month minus condo fee and taxes-it pays for our mortgage. Now we have 2 equity lines and we are using one to pay for this. It's getting there. Tried to post a picture but it was too big-when we are done I'll send it to Meme-she knows what to do. Happy Easter again Joanne-made pea soup with leftover ham bone-never made it before-it came out good!!Hi everyone. Mima
|
Aaah, pea soup! One of my faves but I never make it.
Sometimes I long for a place where I can just call someone and make everything their responsibility. Too attached here for my own good sometimes. Candice, no a half hour wouldn't get your job done. It doesn't even get mine done. But that's the way I can do it. If I do more, I end up not doing any for a long time. But I got over 3 hours of yard work in this week and IF I could do that every week, it would at least be presentable (which it was not the last two years). Also got in five half hour walks and a 45 minute pool workout during the week. Plus a pretty good week calorie wise and lots of water. Yesterday was miserable here too at least until late afternoon when it got up to tolerable. But today looks GREAT. Don't have any plans, figure I might just hang around and do what ever (or nothing) strikes me. Have not had many days like that in recent months and May starting to look busy already. |
Hey There
I swear the next Holiday someone else can do the cooking... My back is broke, my legs are swelling. and I am not finished yet. Dinner is at 5 ish so I will put my feet up for about an hour..But...I say this every year.
This has always been a sorta big Holiday for my husband. He is Greek. His parents came from Spetsis, one of the islands off of the main island of Greese. His mother was a proxy bride. His father came to America and a few years after going through Ellis Island served in the WW1. When he finally came back to Tarpon Springs he was friends with another greek man whose wife had two sisters in Greece. Another friend of his was looking for a wife so they sent to Greece and brought over the two sisters. And that was the begining of this large family. That was the normal way back in the 20's.75% of the weddings then were proxy,in the greek community. Bye..Joanne |
I should never have told myself that I would get my life back when my kids graduated. It was that light at the end of the tunnel I counted on for years. NOw that it is almost here, I realize that it is not true. This has been the hardest year I have ever had. Right this minute I have noone in my house, eating all the food I just shopped for, messing up the house I cleaned yesterday. I need to get outside and take advantage of having the house to myself.
ANger Management movie was dumb....but it was nice to get out. I ate a huge dinner then bought Healthy Choice ice cream. Told myself it was diet ice cream....:o |
