  • I have become a bit disillusioned with the genie bra, as when I bought my second and third pairs, they were not as nice as the first set.

I bought all three sets at Walmart. When I bought the two pairs, I didn't try them on, so I didn't learn until I got home that they weren't identical to the first set.

The inserts on all four new bras were slightly smaller than the first set (and personally I thought the inserts in the first set should have been just a tad bigger). The set I bought with the lace trim (white and black) were so skimpy at the sides, cust so low at the sides that there was an incredible amount of spillage, especially under the arms. It felt weird because it was cut so low on the sides and wasn't attractive, even under clothing.

The insert problem was so bad that I went to JoAnn fabric and bought bra cups (designed to be sewn into swimwear and halter dresses).

I bought two different types, and they both worked much, much better than the original.

The downside is the added expense. There were several types at JoAnn's to choose from, and they run from $10 to $30. I tried to different types, and they had a third I would like to try.

I've wondered whether or not bras from the website are built as poorly (would it be worth it to buy more online). Did I just get a bad batch?

For comfort, they can't be beat - so for flare days I still love them. I'm just afraid to use them for every day wear, because I'm afraid that the next time I order the bras they will be even flimsier.

I'm tempted to order from the website (hoping the quality is better than what they sell to Walmart), but what if it's not - then I'm stuck with six crappy bras, and have to deal with the inconvenience and gamble of returning them.

I'm wondering whether the website b
  • I use those for my flare up days as well. I am a 40 E cup and it is painful to go braless on a good day, during a flare it is down right excruiciating. I was using the playtex 18 hour bra that hooks in the front (much easier to get on) but even in a bigger band size it just hurt.

being as big as I am, I only wear them at home, alone. But they are much easier than a sports bra to get on and off.
  • I bought the genie bras only cause I had a credit at a store and could not find anything I wanted. I was around 155 then and bigger than a dd, it was a challenge to find a good size. Think I needed a 3xl or larger. It's a little to big now but still comfortable. I love those things, but I am a house wife so wearing all day is suitable for me. I also would not recommend if going out. It seems to support but not shape, if you r perky then maybe it woukd work. But having gone from a d to an e multiple times has left me needing more support. The genie is awesome to sleep in, I don't even realize I am wearing it most times, and I know the arm crossing all too well. Lol I would buy it again and again.
  • I bought a genie about a year ago because I have bad shoulders and my regular straps were pinching on the muscle. I like the larger strap and it covers up the "back" bulge better. It did smoosh me a little but I used bathing suit inserts to help that out a bit.

I'm now 25 pounds lighter but still use the same one for yoga, and lounging. I wash the heck out of it and it's held up great. The pads didn't last long at all after washing them a few times.

I'm barely a B cup now and about a 36-38 but if anyone knows of more bra's like this that are lighter than the genie - please do tell!

I just got some a couple of weeks ago exactly for this reason. I'm much too big boobed to use these to go out in public, but the extra support while sleeping is more comfortable.

I got the 2X which is the right size in terms of overall fit but unfortunately, not quite large enough cup size so the bulge is another reason this isn't something I'd wear in public. I hope to drop a cup size or two as the weight comes off but the girls usually have a mind of their own about that!

The Hanes "Bandini" is a good stretchy bra. It's not the same as a sports bra in terms of keeping things strapped down, but it's as supportive as a regular bra for me (which is crazy).
The straps are thin, so it looks like it would do nothing at all... but it really does work great. There's a padded and un-padded version, too. I'm a 32D now, and I wear a medium (which I've been wearing since I was DD). Plus they're really cheap!
