  • Me the old haggggggg................Christmas Eve Pciture 02
  • Did very well eating the past two days no cookies!
  • Good morning, all! First semiquiet day here in a long while. No doctors to visit, no dialysis, no snowstorms, even went to church last night. So have some music on, scanned the paper (will read it this afternoon when I want to take a nap - usually works).

Dh is going to have his second shower (modified), I have one gift to return yet and another little trip to take to WalMart. May do last two tomorrow while he's in dialysis. Only possible thing on schedule is a stopin from neighborhood friend and hubby to see dh. Aaaaaah!

Have not been doing well foodwise since just after Christmas when several people brought cookies, etc. However, I think I have cleaned out all of the homemade ones now (via the anagram disposal) and am prepared to start yet again tomorrow. I disappointed me a bit yesterday after a good op day. When evening came, I was tired and headachy and did more than my share of emotional eating.

this is the week I'm looking for things just to get to normal a bit more. Have all Christmas things down but three. By down, I mean in the basement waiting to be packed up. Fortunately, I didn't get a lot out this year. But repacking will still be a chore as I want to redo some and sort out. Plus have a few new things to add. Hoping also by week's end to have dh's recovery room (aka our family room) restored to normal. He came upstairs to bed for the first time last night but was back down in a few hours as he's still having trouble sleeping.

We'd have been in FL by now - SIGH!!!! However, it's just great to have him here and recovering. I always think I'd get a lot more organized if I were here in Jan/Feb. We'll see ......

Hope everyone is feeling warm and cozy and all set for a great year.
  • Love the Christmas pic, ole hag! I should look so good.

Ally, I like that Jared too. If somebody put the subs in front of me, right now I think I could do it but he walked to get them for exercise. Also I did read that his dad is a doc and monitored him medically every week. But you're right about the financial end. What a way to start out!

Bet the girls' families are happy with their "digs", too, Meme.

  • Hey There
It looks like everyone is winding down from Christmas. I finally have my Holiday stuff put away too. I have pretty good with my eating the past few days. I am back to writing down everything and got on the scale this AM. I didn't do so bad afterall. I may be learning what not to buy. I do still have a lot of chips and crackers in the shelves. It is a challenge to resist them.I haven't started walking but my foot is not good enought yet. Arthritis is not fun. I am doing some crafts and reading which I enjoy more.
Candice =Who calls you an old hag? I don't think so! You worry too much. We must have something in common.
Meme- Sounds like you have become a foster mother for the girls. Good for them. When they took the step to try it on their own,it was good they found you. Hope they don't become too dependent.
Anagram- I hope you are staying warm.. It sounds like your hubby is doing ok. It is cool here today. We need a few cold days. It keeps the bugs that don't get into the house down to a level . We have these little lizzards outside. My hubby protects them as they do a job for us eating the bugs. I have lived in Fl. all my life and still don't want them in the house. You will get to Fl. when he gets better
    Bye- Joanne
Hello Ally, Mima, Happy. and anyone I missed.
  • joanne u forgot me but happy new year to u and ur family too
my foot and leg that i had a total knee surgery is bothering me these past few days and the arthritis is killing me too but i know the weather has something to do with it
hey i just signed up for the yahoo groups and will be marlena1948 in there has anyone else joined the groups for the 3fc?
  • Amen on the arthritis thing, the storms coming through on such a routine basis make it hard to get un-achy. Through all this running, etc. my knee replacements have held up and not hurt too much. I'm so glad I had them done before this as I'm not sure how I'd have managed.

Joanne, when is your daughter's surgery scheduled? Are you still planning on yours after that? Or still up in the air?

Marlene, when did you have your knee surgery? It can take so long to feel "normal" again.
  • i had a total knee replacement last summer in 2001 the knee is fine but the ligaments around it kill me plus every once in a while my artifical knee gives out on me does urs do that? i am trying to hold off on getting the other one done cause of it being so painful afterwards.......................................i ts snowing here
  • I work, I eat, I sleep and then I work some more. I'm tired!

Finally got everything packed up and put away...just don't open the closet door in the basement until next Christmas!!!

Knee replacement...UGH...don't want any! My DRs. are threatening but I'm waiting as long as I can! Had surgery on both already...don't want replacements!

We need to have a convention...the 'Foot and Knee Disease Convention'...PLUS ONE OLD HAG!

  • Candice...You look just like a friend of mine who is in her early 30's. Really.
OK...I checked out the Oprah site. I knew she was doing some major working out. I guess she doesn't have fibro. I do some of the lifting with ten pound weights. She uses 50 lbs. Ouch.
Plus she has the luxury of probably having a gym in her home and in the studio. I have a hard time fitting in a half hour a day on the treadmill.
Well, I am still avoiding the sugar but I am not sroping weight cause I am eating anything that isn't sugar
    Gotta go feed the boys.
  • Hey There
Marlene- Sorry I missed you. Happy New Year. I have had one knee replacement and you are right the pain after is bad.
Anagram -My daughter is having her surgery somewhere in the middle of this month.I will probably know the date in a couple days. It will most likely be a partial hysterectomy but that will be decided at the time of surgery. My Dr. wants me to wait on my other knee untill it is as bad as it can get. I somewhat agree as of now it is still managable with the pain pills ,which I don't take unless I have to) and the injections. The after surgery pain is awful.I wear a knee brace when I go out ,just in case it decides to slip out on me. It hasn't been doing that as bad lately for some reason. I have been praying for assistance and maybe that is why.
Ally- I say Opra on TV today and she does look good. She should. The last I read she makes in the neighborhood of 38million+ a year and counting. She can offord several gyms .
    Bye you all...Joanne
  • Hi Fibropals
Started to write this yesterday, and then it all went to cyberheaven and I didn't feel like starting it all over.

Candice - loooooooking gooooood Glad you tamed the cookie monster.

Mima - I think you are now gone, but wanted to wish you a safe journey. Have a good time.

Joanne - Hello. How cold is cold? It is in the 40's here and that is warm:lol We have a little bit of snow that came last weekend, but it is slowly melting. This sure isn't a typical winter in Alberta.

Meme - you will become a Den Mother next. Just don't let them use you as a surrogate mom. You have enough to do.

Ally - Get on Atkins or a low carb diet. They have now found that it the best way to control Cholestrol, blood pressure and blood sugar. Atkins was right along. They are still doing trials on this diet, but they are finding quite a few good things. As a matter of fact, my own Dr. recommends it. This gets rid of the cravings as well as the fact that you are NEVER hungry. It has been in the news lots lately. The Atkins Clinic is in New York.

Marlene - chalk up those miles! As soon as I get this cast off, I will hopefully be able to join you.

Anagram - so glad that things are returning slowly to normal for you. What a time you have had. I don't blame you for turning to the comfort of food when you are so stressed and tired.

I finally got Christmas put away for another year. Yesterday, I polished all the furniture and cleaned all the glass in the cabinets. Mirrors, chrome, bathrooms, are all sparkling. Last night, my cousin and her hubby came over for our traditional Irish Coffee. Had 3, and then I ate some little appetizers. They were really good - Filo Pastry wraped around Brie cheese with cranberries. Almost like dessert. Anyway, I had to much cream, and cheese, can irish whiskey. I woke up at 1:00 with indigestion and couldn't go back to sleep until 5:00 a.m. Did you know that there is NOTHING on TV in the middle of the night, except horror stuff? What a rip. I was way to tired to read. The FM had kicked in, and the muscles in the sternum were giving me BIG problems as well - felt like I couldn't get enough air. It has been behaving for several months. See what happens when you are bad?

Anyway, I wish everyone a Health, Happy, Peaceful New Year.
  • JOanne, i will keep ur daughter in my prayers how old is she? i hope everything goes ok with her ........................................
my aunt who is 76 had both of her knees done at one time i would never do that that pain is so unreal it took me at least 8 weeks to get rid of the awlful pain now it is pretty good but like u i am afraid of falling...that is one thing i don't want to happen and now we have 3"of snow which fell today and i wonder how much of it will freeze for tomorrow morning as i go to work by 7am oh well i will worry about that then
