Marlene - Don't worry about it, just pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and get on with it. You didn't let anyone down other than, maybe, yourself. You will succeed for next week.
Melissa - FM is such a hard thing to deal with and I sure don't envy you having to look after kids as well. I started on the Atkins diet(low carbs) after trying ww from Feb-June. I had lot only 9 pounds in all that time, and I was sticking to those points. Since I started on Atkins, I have been feeling so much better. The crushing fatigue is not a big deal for me any longer. Also, my pain levels seem to be less. Today I had bacon and eggs for brunch, then I had a handful of piggy puffs and for supper I had a steak, wrapped with bacon and a salad of tomatoes, cucumbers, onion and salad, with mayo. and a little dill pickle juice, served on lettuce. I am full and I don't think I will need anything else to eat today. If I find I am hungry, I might grab a piece of cheese. I don't spend all my time thinking about food, because I just don't crave anything and I am satisfied. Being on a good diet (meaning not too much sugar) will certainly help your pain levels. I think that all of us can attest to that fact, on whatever diet we are on. I think wheat might also be a problem. The other thing that is great, is that this diet has eliminated the irritable bowel syndrome as well. To many good things to want to give it up. Hi Anagram, Joanne, Meme. When were Mima and Candice supposed to be back? Ally doesn't even know she isn't the baby any longer:lol: Ok, now for my GOOD news. I got on the scale this morning and at last I dropped 3 pounds. I am overjoyed! |
thanks for ur comments... u know whenever i did atkins even if it was for a few days the fatigue always went away and i didn't find myself craving so much for carbs as i do on ww but one thing i did notice and makes me stop every time is a pain in my lower back that i get...i find it so hard to get out of bed in the morning and if i stand in one spot for any length of time like washing dishes or standing peeling veggies so i don't know what to do i do feel better on atkins than on ww on ww i find myself eating things i wouldn't on atkins cause it is ok but then i over indulge so there goes the weight again i am really thinking of what i should do in the am now atkins or ww atkins or ww atkins or ww.....:?:

Marlene
I also have BIG problems with my lower back, but not only on Atkins. I get muscle spasams going. If you know for sure you don't have any kidney problems, then just increase your potassium levels. That helps. I was getting Charley Horses and jumping out of bed int eh middle of the night. The extra Potassium helped that a lot.

Hey
Boy Oh Boy - Christmas is coming early to this house...I got a new stove this week from my son . I got a Memoryfoam mattress top from my daughter today. and I have convinced my hubby I need a new set of pots and pans to cook with.
The best way to fight the weight is find a good plan that you can live with and do it. Don't give yourself excuses .That won't work. We all have to make healthy living a way of life. Losing weight and getting healthy is not just temporary ,it is forever. Involve your whole family in your routine. You can do it!You will find that you hurt less as the weight comes off. My son has moved. Almost. We are still taking things of his to his house. I love it. ... Bye.Joanne |
Thanks for your support, Ladies. Will continue to need it and all the prayers we can get.
Dh is in intensive care, has received so far 9 units of blood. Complex situation involving bloodthinners, kidneys, etc. (Joanne, hemo was down to 4 at one point). Anyway, sorry no time for anything but a quick post. Will probably be gone for a while. |
Hi guys-I, m back-quickly read posts and I'm so sorry for you and your husband, Anagram. Let;s all pray!!!!I CAN'T GET ON THE SCALE!!!!!!!Gained weights big time but what a wonderful trip and cruise! The cruise was laid back but of course you were force fed. Good thing is Brad is going to diet also. I'll probably end back in weight watchers but I'm going to work next week. All my kitchen stuff is in the living room and our carpenter is not done yet!! No stove, electricity in the kitchen!!!!But who cares. OUr trip in a nutshell-Train to New Orleans-had a teeny room with fold up sink-arrived in NO Friday night-hotel room on 3rd floor no elevator-girl helped. Some things from makeup kit fell in toilet so we found a Walgreen's SAt am-got on the boat at noon-stopped at Oak Alley, St. Francisville, Natchez, Vicksburg, and Baton Rouge-Thanksgiving on the boat-wow!!!-back in NO sat, morn-did some waliking to the French Market etc-got tickets for tour next day-Sun-went to mass at oldest cathedral in US-bus tour-bus to City Park at night to see christmas lights-train to Chicago on Mon. rough ride -little sleep-couldn't find way around in Chicago so we spent most of day waiting for train-left Tues night and slept in coach-not too bad-train 2 hours late last night and car locked in garage because I told Brad wrong date. Guy got car out while we ate dinner!!!and got home at 9-Except for the train ride home, it was great, memeorable etc. Now back to real life!!!!!!And we khave laughs to remember!!!Mima

Hey There
Anagram- You and your hubby are in my prayers.. Keep in touch when you can...Joanne
|
Also in my prayers, Anagram. Hope he feeling better. Let us know how you are doing when you can.
Mima and Candice nice to have you back. |
Hi gys-slow down Candice-one day ata time-puting kitchen back together today=crisis yesterday-Brad's mom fell again and was in hospital and they were going to send her home alone-after many phone calls-sister straightened it out with social worker-Brad was the mediator-now when she goes home again, she'll have to have someone stay with her and she really would like us to take turns but....I would rather pay someone. Got on the scale-5 lbs more with rthe other 7 I've gained. Bad!!!!!!!!but we were good yesterday and now I know I have to buckle down. It snowed again yesterday-5th storm-and it's still going. Well-back to work-Mima
|
Hey There
Mima- Nice to have you back..It is so hard to get our weight under control this time of year. I am still 4 lbs over goal and now Christmas is almost here. I am always glad when the Holidays are over ,just for that reason. I don't have much control. I guess that is why I have the problem.
I am still not in the mood or have been successful in getting my shopping done. I hope your mil will do fine. I had that problem for many years. We put her in a nursing home where she lived for almost 7 yrs more. She was a very difficult woman and no one could do much with her. The Nursing home was on the verge of turning her out. I think that the only reason they kept her was I worked there. They put her on my floor where I was charge nurse. I thought some days I would lose my mind. Hello everyone....Joanne |
Hi
Well, I am still plugging along. Got one more gift to get. It was out of the way, so I will go pick it up next week, and then I will be done. Even got all the stocking stuffers (my kids are still young at heart:lol: ) I will wrap the stuff next week as well, then I will do a little baking. Sure not doing much. Didn't even make my Christmas Cakes this year because hubby and I are the only one's that like them, and we don't need them.
Now on to Atkins. I have now lost a grand total of 17 pounds and I am feeeeeeeling goooood!!! No cravings and no hunger, so that is a big bonus. Last night I made a cheese cake filling - Whipped cream and cream cheese sweetened with Splenda, and I topped it with Blueberry Pie Filling - just a tad and it is so good. It is the filling for my favorite cheese cake. It is not baked. Have been having those as well. Baked New York Style Cheese Cake - yummy!! I am not feeling the least bit deprived. In fact, I did taste some chocolate and I just didn't care for it. Going to my daughter tomorrow. Have a babysitting job tomorrow night. It's her Christmas Party, so they will be out late. I will get to visit with my very favorite little person. It is going to be busy from now until Christmas I think I have something planned for every weekend. Don't put the tree up until the 18 of Dec. or so and that is when I will decorate the house as well. My dining room table already has a Christmas runner and a beautiful Pointsettia on it. It is so fresh, and they sprinkled sparkles on it. Sorry Candice, didn't mean to write a book. Joanne - good to get your space back isn't it? Mima - are you saying you have gained 12 pounds? Ah, ain't love grand:lol: Anagram - I am hoping things are going alright for you and your hubby. You are in my prayers. Meme - Where are You? Ally, you too - where are you? The snow got you socked in! Marlene - Did you have a good week? I hope everyone has had a good day. |
Yappy........can I have the recipe for your cheese cake filling with splenda?????? 17 gone..you go girl! :bravo:
boo hoo :( my VCR wil not eject my tape....I'm gonna have to trya nd take it apart..it is bugging me not working right! Well the week started great in the eating dept and yesterday I could not eat all my points..only ate 10 total and today I was so hungry running errands that I ate two donuts and two cookies..blew my pts for the day so I had a can of Tuna when I got home! ( I did not take my usual food along cause I didn't plan to be gone all day!) Gotta get some rest before I fall over!) I ran off today and left the heating pad on.......my brain is going! |
Hey There
Happy- You are doing great with your diet. Yes it is good to have my space back.. It is strange to come home and not have to watch the dog doesn't run out. He would just keep going and I would have a devil of a time catching him. I don't like one that big in the house. My sons new place is bigger and he doesn't notice as much. I am still cleaning up the hairs. I love my son dearly but visits are better.
Where have all our friend gone..Hello Candice. They must be busy getting ready for christmas. I think that a few of mine are going to get gift certificates. That is so much easier. I hate buying things people smile and say thank you and they really don't want it or can't use. This way they choose something they want or need.. Bye,Joanne |
I already had 7 and gained 5 on the cruise and I work next week so I'll have to be careful-good thing there is lots of walking space there!!!!Carpenter didn't show up so kitchen is going very slowly but have most of stuff put back-gotta pack again-Mima
|
What's this I hear...I am not the BABY??? I flipped thru the posts and see we have someone new. Marlene, right? Welcome.
I will have to read old posts and catch up. Just a busy busy time of year. Too much stress. I have aches in places I didn't know I could ache. I shopped all day yesterday. Thought we were going to a plaza where we would have to be outside much of the time, but instead we went to the mall. I almost passed out. Had hunting socks on!!! Am in sugar withdrawal. Have to do this before people start bringing the trays of cookies into work. I have never been much of a baker, so I don't get tempted at home. But I will eat someone else's til I am SICK!!! Will check in tomorrow when I have time to read. Found out my dogs are allergiv to Oxyclean which is what I used on the carpets. Had to clean them again with hot water alone. |
Hey There
Ally- Do you like Oxyclean??I am getting ready to do my rugs too. I refuse to put up m,y tree till the house is all clean..
Hello all...Joanne |
Fly by -
Thanks for the prayers and concerns. DH still in ICU, they've stopped bleeding in two aneurysms in kidney. Has had 13 units of blood. Lots of other issues as well but we're hoping he's turned that first corner. He's such a stoic! I have noticed I'm not turning to food. I would at one time have figured I was "entitled" to eat junk because I was under stress. A few times I've looked at the hershey kisses on the table near my chair but just said "nah". Anyway, family, friends, neighbors offering help, support. Will check in from time to time if able. Probably never be able to catch up on all the posts though I would like to. We'll see. |
Well..I forgot to add that while I was out shopping I picked up stuff for the WW soup and made that today and yesterday only used up 3 banked pts and that was not counting exercise pts so I am ok....whew.......Got my baking recipes out but have not started yet..need to ge some done this week and I know I will sample plenty but I always allow for it but know for health reasons I need to cut back on my sugar intake! Boo Hoo.........
Well... we have a Birthday meal this week (my son) and cake.......gotta start banking again. not sure if I'm cooking for him or going out. I'm still worn out form my trip or stressed out I should say. Sounds like we are all keeping track and that is half the battle I think! Ya gotta know what you are eating....I totally cannot remember my meds or food or anything else if I do not right it down! Too many senior moments latley!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just cold here the snow and ice missed us...yeah....we just missed the storm..they got 8 inches of snow and ice where we were for Thanksgiving! I hope all of you that got hit with this are ok............. I love oxyclean for my whites when I wash instead of bleach. Ally how did you find out he was allergic to it?????? Joanne...gifts certificates sound good to me for next year!:) Thought about it for this year but didn't do it. I was online shopping at penny's big sale and my puter pooped out lost everything so no order and not sure if I can get back on there before the sale ends today..need to go to bed. I do not funciton well on the small amount of sleep I'm getting latley. anagram..so sorry aobut your DH..sounds like he is doing better and you are coping during this stressfull time. hugs(((()))) :) |
Oh Anagram, hope everything goes well!!!Mostly packed-church, pick up snowblower, go see Brda's Mom and drive an hour and a half. Sad news-found out one of step-nieces died while we ere awat-she had an artificial heart and they just celebrated her 10th year with it 2 weeks ago and she died Thanksgiving night-2 children. Gotta send a card explaining why I wasn't at calling hours. Hope everyone is well-Christmas party tomorrow night and Brad is driving out to go to it-should be fun-won't even mention the food. See you next Sat. Mima

Re: Oxyclean. My dogs have been bitingat thir feet since the end of summer. The vet thought it was allerges to pollen, but now that we have snow I knew that was not it.
I was using oxyclean last week, a ral concentrated blend of it and water and I realized that my hands were irritated by it. Well, the last time I did the carpets I really concentrated the amount in my carpet cleaner. And now I put two and two together and realized that I also washed the dogs blankets with it. So....I've gotta quit using it so heavy or I will have another huge vet bill. Got chicken wings in, gotta run. Does that sound like diet food?????;) |
Hello. Where is everyone? Is this board still alive?
Ally - Oxyclean is ok, but it never works really well for me. I will just finish up the container I have and that will be that. I love the Orange Clean, however. It is great stuff and the house smells nice when you are done cleaning. I believe the way it works, is that Oxyclean removes organic stains and Orange Clean removes oil based stains. Takes finger prints off like crazy. I hope that your dogs will be ok. Anagram - I hope you are holding up ok, and that your husband is getting better with each day. Joanne - Where has everyone gone. What has happened to our Meme? I know that Mima is away until the weekend. I guess everyone is wrapped up in Christmas. Busy time of the year. Candice - Whatever works for you. Personally, I couldn't stand to write down everything that went into my mouth! I am just plugging along, hoping to maintain what I have lost through Christmas, and then getting back into it seriously in January. Well, I guess I will have to start to do some Christmas baking, like it or not. Both my kids want sugar cookies and haystacks, and Nanimo Bars and a few other things. Hubby wants Rum Balls. So, I am off to the store to get the supplies. Let's hope I don't run out of energy once I get prepared. I am taking EVERYTHING with me for Christmas (going to daughter's) so there won't be any temptations when I come home (well, maybe a few, because I have to have some stuff on hand for when people drop in). Everyone have a good day. |
Hope all the sick are better.
Been busy and disabled...between the Christmas shopping and migraine ... don't know which is worse! (migraines!) Took off the evening from piano lessons ... can't stand the plink plonk! I taught early afternoon ... from 1 to 4 but cancelled from 4:30 to 7. Hope to finish up the tree tonight. I have a 6' one in the basement done and my manger scene on the piano. I put my village back up on the entertainment center and decorated all my tables. I've got my 'huge' tree decorated upstairs but haven't got the village and train put under it yet. Maybe (if hubby helps me) I can finish that tonight and then I'll be almost done. I'm having friends over for dinner Thursday night so I'd like to have it all done by then. I put a program on my computer that runs lights around the screen, has a snow screen saver that actually 'builds up' the snow and plays Christmas music and the music is about to drive me nuts ... plus the glare from the screen isn't helping my head any ... gotta go! |
Hey There
I started my Christmas shopping. Got all my cards out and am now on my way...I went all over town trying to find a carpet cleaner..I think everyone in town must be doing the same thing.
I wish I didn't have to get into the baking again. I may just go to a bakery and buy. I am going to try and make Christmas dinner easy. Bake a ham and the extras. My daughter will be here. She will help me. Meme- I hope you are feeling better soon. I used to have those headaches for days, too. Now it is back and legs. I can't win for losing. Hello Candice,Happy, mima, and all Anagram .how are you doing? Bye you all...Joanne |
Hi, people - holding my own. Always so tired when I get home from hospital.
Dh was moved from intensive care today - a good sign, I'm sure. Will probably have dialysis tomorrow and they've started him back on blood thinner. But he is so weak and so tired and so stoic. Can't wait to get him home. All else on hold. Not looking forward to ice storm tomorrow as I don't want to leave him alone in hospital. Still not going nutso on food but occasionally tempted. |
Hang in there, Anagram. Must be a very trying time for you. I sure hope you don't get an ice storm. Those are the very worst. Try get a good nights sleep.
|
Thanks, Happy, I did. Did not go to hospital. got up early, showered, dressed, was ready to go before it really hit area and would stay overnight (he's in a private room and there is a chair that pulls out I could stay on overnight). But he called just as I was ready to go down and assess the situation one last time and reiterated I was to stay home. Thank God he's where there's a phone now so I could talk to him. He sounded stronger (unless he was putting on an act for me). So I stayed home and hope to soon pull me together and catch up some things (like paying bills!) that get lost in the hospital/medical shuffle.
Did weigh in this a.m. too and am down 2.2 over the last two weeks - not that that's my current priority. Just glad the reformed habits are carrying the day a bit. |
Hey
Anagram- Sure hope things with your hubby keeps going uphill. That is a good weight loss. I wish I was doing the same. I have been so busy I have not planned well. Take care and stay warm. Hello all..I got my carpet done.. Took a long bath and rubbed on the Hot and Icy. Next is the heating pad. At least I can quit whining about my carpet now. I am sure there are more important things than that to talk about. At the time though It was important. Now I wonder why I made such a fuss.
Talk to you all tomorrow.. Got a good book to go to bed with...Joanne |
Gotta Love Maxine!

Tips for Holiday Eating
You can't pick up a magazine without finding a list of holiday eating do's and don'ts. Eliminate second helpings, high-calorie sauces and cookies made with butter, they say. Fill up on vegetable sticks, they say. Good grief. Is your favorite childhood memory of Christmas a carrot stick? I didn't think so. Isn't mine, either. A carrot was something you left for Rudolph. I have my own list of tips for holiday eating. I assure you, if you follow them, you'll be fat and happy. So what if you don't make it to New Year's? Your pants won't fit anymore, anyway. 1. About those carrot sticks. Avoid them. Anyone who puts carrots on a holiday buffet table knows nothing of the Christmas spirit. In fact, if you see carrots, leave immediately. Go next door, where they're serving rum balls. 2. Drink as much eggnog as you can. And quickly. Like fine single-malt scotch, it's rare. In fact, it's even rarer than single-malt scotch. You can't find it any other time of year but now. So drink up! Who cares that it has 10,000 calories in every sip? It's not as if you're going to turn into an egg- nogaholic or something. It's a treat. Enjoy it. Have one for me. Have two. It's later than you think. It's Christmas! 3. If something comes with gravy, use it. That's the whole point of gravy. Pour it on. Make a volcano out of your mashed potatoes. Fill it with gravy. Eat the volcano. Repeat. 4. As for mashed potatoes, always ask if they're made with skim milk or whole milk. If it's skim, pass. Why bother? It's like buying a sports car with an automatic transmission . 5. Do not have a snack before going to a party in an effort to control your eating. The whole point of going to a Christmas party is to eat other people's food for free. Lots of it. Hello? Remember college? 6. Under no circumstances should you exercise between now and New Year's. You can do that in January when you have nothing else to do. This is the time for long naps, which you'll need after circling the buffet table while carrying a 10-pound plate of food and that vat of eggnog. 7. If you come across something really good at a buffet table, like frosted Christmas cookies in the shape and size of Santa, position yourself near them and don't budge. Have as many as you can before becoming the center of attention. They're like a beautiful pair of shoes. You can't leave them behind. You're not going to see them again. 8. Same for pies. Apple. Pumpkin. Mincemeat. Have a slice of each. Or, if you don't like mincemeat, have two apples and one pumpkin. Always have three. When else do you get to have more than one dessert? Labor Day? 9. Did someone mention fruitcake? Granted, it's loaded with the mandatory celebratory calories, but avoid it at all cost. I mean, have some standards, mate. 10. And one final tip: If you don't feel terrible when you leave the party or get up from the table, you haven't been paying attention. Reread tips. Start over. But hurry! Cookieless January is just around the corner. |
I'm monopolizing this page...
Oh well...wanted to show you all this picture...just got Sami back from the groomer and had to get her pic. before she got dirty again! HA She's so cute...has on a little red scarf but you can't see it good. I finally got all my decorating done...what a job. Had friends over for dinner tonight...no kids! Was nice. We had fun! I'm about starved for adult conversation!!! |
This is my tree. It is 8 ft. tall with the angel on top. I don't even know how many angels there are on it now...lost count last year!
|
Nice pictures Meme and you look so young!!!!!!!!!:) Your tree is beautiful too:D
We had my sons BD meal here and I did well with the meal but had a tiny piece of cake and then when I was putting it away I ate more! Used all my banked pts I guess...what a waste. I'm pooped from cooking and decorating..had to redo some of the lights outside that the wind broke......... |
Hmmm...thanks but I don't FEEL young!!! I'm getting too old (or too sick...or both!) to do all this decorating and baking and cooking and shopping and wrapping...not to mention child care...have all four tomorrow night! Beginnning to feel my 55 years (+ 45!).
|
Hey There
Meme- Oh to be in my 50's again! I am going to try and put up my tree this weekend. I am off to the beauty shop to get my hair trimed and then to do some shopping. I sent out all my cards and then found there was a couple more to send. Although we gave our G/son his christmas last month we want to send a card to him on his ship. He is on the Harry S.Truman that went out the first of the month. I sure hope that things over there calm down, otherwise, his ship will be in a primary spot. I got a kick out of your poem yesterday.
Candice. I bet that little bit of cake didn't hurt you at all. I wish I had your control. Hello everybody...Got to get busy...Joanne |
Hello
Meme - loved the joke and the pictures. See, it's no wonder everyone thinks we're healthy! You look healthy. Hope your darn headache is gone. My back started giving me problems last night and the pain was so bad I felt like screaming. Hubby had to literally pull me out of the chair and then I couldn't straighten out. Anyway, went to the chiro today and I am feeling MUCH, MUCH better. The Facet Joint was locked - that is what I figured it was, but I have not had pain like that for 4 years.
Joanne - I got my cards send out this morning, got the house decorated this afternoon and now I am tired. I will put the tree up next week. Candice - I don't think a few points over now and then will make a difference to your weight. >READ THIS VERY SLOWLY......
