Default Inversion Tables - Recommendations?

My physical therapist has recommended that I get an inversion table so I can stretch/decompress my back/spine more frequently than my current 2x per week traction sessions (I have two bulging discs). Does anyone have any experience with inversion tables and, hopefully, recommendations as to which is best?

Hi! Sorry to hear about your back! I have a collapsed disc, 2 bulging discs, a herniated disc, narrowing of the spinal canal, a broken vertabra, and osteoarthritis in my spine. I bought an inversion table 2 months ago, I have been using it for the last couple of weeks and it has helped my nerve pain! So hopefully the more I use it, and the lighter I get, the better my back will get! I would suggest looking on craigslist for a used one, they can be super expensive new, I got mine (almost brand new) for $50! It is an Ironman inversion table and it is the best one I have seen so far. When you get yours make sure that you ease in to it, don't just get on it and flip upside down for an hour, go slow, start out slightly tilted for 10 minutes a day for 3 weeks, and work up to being all the way upside down. Good luck! :-)

Thanks, Burningstar! I ordered my inversion machine...a Teeter Hang Ups EP950, and I should have it in a week or two. I'm REALLY looking forward to trying it out. Thanks for the advice on starting out slowly...I've heard that before and when I tried one out in the store, I did a 20 degree angle for approx. 10 minutes.

I'm so glad to hear you've gotten relief from your inversion table. I'm hopeful that I'll get relief too.

Thanks again for taking the time to respond.
