Default Fertility!

Does anyone have any success stories after fertility treatment? I just got AF after my first IUI and Im getting discouraged. Waiting is the hardest part. A week after my IUI my progesterone was 8.53 and it shouldve been at least 10. My husbands motility is only 17. Instead of progesterone suppositories they increased my clomid to 150mg. I'm praying that works because I've never heard of that. Does anyone have any similar experiences?
Btw my 2 coworkers that were ttc with me are both pg

You may already know this, but just in case you or someone else doesn't -- get your husband to switch to loose boxer shorts and see if that helps. Many men wear their underwear too tight which makes them too hot in that area. This excess heat can damage the sperm and motility (so I have read). I do know couples, in person, that got pregnant only 1-3 months after the husband switched to boxers.

AND, for you, I read a book by a medical doctor who specialized in fertility who recommended that ladies trying to get pregnant should take a really good vitamin with extra minerals; actually the ones for pregnancy, but take them now.

Also, he recommended PURE APPLE CIDER VINEGAR as well; you can get that at health food stores. You can drink it as a Mineral Cocktail made of PACV (1 tbl) + 1/4 cup Pure Cranberry Juice + 1 cup cold water (you may add sweetener like honey or a substitute as desired). Some people also add a bit of PURE GRape Juice as well, if desired.

The APPLE CIDER VINEGAR can be added to any juice you like though; or to sauces (like tomato) and salad dressings or as a salad dressing as well. It has helped many people, so I am told; it's worth a try anyways ...

I always warn people not to drink Apple Cider Vinegar. My aunt had a UTI and had read that Apple Cider Vinegar was a good home remedy so she was drinking some and it "went down the wrong pipe" and she choked. It burned her lungs and she had to go to the hospital. Her lungs were badly damaged and began filling up with fluid and she died within 48 hours. She was compeltely healthy other than the UTI.

I'm not usually a doom and gloom person, but I always warn people against drinking Cider Vinegar because of this!

Original Poster, I'll be praying that your IUI's work for you! I suffered infertility as well and as soon as I hit the 190's my cycles started straightening right out. The doctor would never come right out and tell me that my infertility was due to my weight, but my hormones truly couldn't regulate themselves at my high weight. Now for the first time in my life, I'm a perfect 28 day cycler!

I also recommend the book sexy hormones and her supplements. Helped my mom with menopause and helped lighten my periods. Weight loss will also help. Maybe focus on that for now and see what happens?

I've heard a few people swear by avoiding preservatives and HFCS helped them out as well. Some Docs recommend men not only wear loser pants and shorts but put ice packs on their testies to cool them down.

Thanks! I didnt respond to clomid and we are holding off on further treatment until my husband goes to the urologist (apt tomorrow).. my dr basically said that if there is nothing they can do to help my husband shes not very optimistic about our future. She said she will start me on pills AND injections with IUI and if that doesn't work the best thing is IVF- which we can't afford. she 'encouraged' me to lose weight and gave me a pamphlet on obesity and how it affects fertility and pregnancy. So thats where I am. I am trying to lose 20lb before I start injections. I heard that a 10% weight loss really helps.

Good luck dear.

I had ridiculous cycles.
I started TTC #1 in early 2003 and just had my first baby seven years later this spring.
It was a very rough time for me.

Despite never being very overweight, I ended up pregnant after losing 12 pounds doing weightlifting and the South Beach diet.
Our bodies are so sensitive sometimes.
It is so frustrating to have your hormones not work.

Take care.

I got pg in May after 6 years of infertility. It ended up in a miscarriage, but there is hope! A lot of times it just the right combination of treatments. Losing weight will help, no doubt about it. Do you have PCOS? I really suggest the South Beach Diet. I had been on it about 1 month, lost 20 pounds and got pg. Our bodies are VERY sensitive to sugar. Just keep trying! I really hope it happens for you!!
