multiple medical problems

  • Hello everyone,

I am new to this site and new to dieting. I have a medical condition that requires me to take cortisone every day. I have taken this for 4 years now and have gained 40 pounds in that time. I also have to eat a lot of salt in my diet or take sodium tablets in order to keep my blood pressure from getting too low.

I also suffer from hypoglycemia so really have to watch for my blood sugar doesn't get too low.

Thirdly, I have irritable bowel syndrome so many, many foods make me quite sick.

Anyone have any suggestions on what sort of diet I should try? I am right now just trying to watch how much I eat and am exercising but don't seem to be making any progress.

Thanks everyone and good luck with your goals!!

    Stacey
  • I think in your case you should speak to a nutritionist- they would know what's best for you more so than anyone here I'd think.
  • I agree that a doctor or nutritionist is the best bet for you, but you might want to go to someone who is open to a carbohydrate-restricted approach, as that can help with low blood sugar issues along with IBS (especially if it's celiac-intolerance related).

You can try to google 'low carb doctors' to find if there are any in your area - could be a place to start.

You have a lot of challenges, but a great attitude :-)
