  • I am here Joanne. I hope all of you are feeling good today. I have been feeling great until yesterday noon, then my legs started hurting like crazy and this morning my lower back hurts, and it is all weather related!!! On Monday, it was almost 80 above. Yesterday morning was beautiful, and then a storm rolled in - high winds, rain that later turned to snow as the temp. dropped down to 32. We are supposed to have more moisture today and then by tomorrow, back up into the 70's. This is typical spring weather for Alberta. My son did remind me the other day, that we usually have snow on the long weekend (this weekend); he would remember, because they always go camping. It is supposed to rain on Saturday and Sunday, so again, snow is a possiblility. If these weather systems keep up, we will have snow in July!!!!!!!

Have to go to ww this morning. Have been really good about my diet, but I don't think I lost anything this time, but that is probably because of the weight I lost last week. Sometimes it takes a couple of weeks. I am just being patient.

Meme - I hope they find something that helps poor little Ross. I hate when kids are ill. Just doesn't seem right to me.

Candice - Hello, where are you! If that shoe is faulty, take it back and demand your money back. I am sure they have to give it to you. It isn't like you are returning them because you don't like them. You can always threaten them with writing a letter to the editor of your local newspaper - no business likes bad publicity.

Ally - You are so busy redecorating. I love doing that. It is fun to do.

They now have a couple of show suites available in the Condo we are going to buy. Went to see them on Sunday. Nice. Ours won't be ready until October he said. They haven't even started to build our side yet. That is only 5 months away. Not long if we think of how fast Mima's wedding came up.

Hi Mima - don't work to hard now.
  • Hi
I'm going to Northampton this afternoon, probably to rest. We finished the condo yesterday-relief!!!-and the woman called who is going to clean the rugs. God is good-I hadn't heard from her. Now everything is here and it's a mess again but I have the whole month of June to do it. And get rid of more stuff. It was snowing this morning-we live in the northern part of MA-near a mountain. Be good everyone. Oh Meme, poor Ross-hope the meds work. Bipolar is difficult. God Bless You Mima
  • Ross is driving me nuts today...he's in "one of his moods"...nothing seems to satisfy him! Not a good time to be in a mood like this...I only have today to get all my work done...have to pack and run errands tomorrow as well as clean my daughter's house! I'm leaving for my weekend in Nashville on Friday...I can't wait!!!!!!! I really need a break...don't know if a weekend will do it.

I can't believe I have the heat on! It was so hot here last week. We had a bad storm and cold front, too, Anne, and that is what is making me hurt so bad. I HAVE to get all this stuff done today but Ross is determined he isn't going to let me...we'll see who wins!!! He doesn't always get his way with Meme! I wish they could get his meds. regulated and stabalize his mood. Dealing with him when he is like this is killing me! I'm soooo tired of kids...I'll be glad when August gets here. The little one is in preschool and I only have to keep her when she has run a temp. She can't go to school for 24 hrs. after she has run a temp. and I won't keep her WHILE she's running one so sometimes I keep her after she's better but before they'll let her come back to school (does that make sense? I don't make much sense today!) The 4 yr. old is going to pre K at the Christian school in the fall, Ross will be in Sylvan and Garrett (7) will be in 2nd grade at the Christian school. I've already told my kids that I'm going to move my piano students to right after school so I don't have to teach so late and won't be able to come get their kids from school etc. They'll just have to make other arrangments...I want my life back!!!

I'm really worried about Garrett. His head has started "jerking". That's the only way I know how to explain it. It's more than just a twitch. They took him to the ER Sunday afternoon and have an appointment to see a specialist. It is so bad they pulled him out of school this week. They're afraid the other kids will make fun of him...it's really noticable. At first, the ER Dr. said it could be a "Tick" but now it has gotten so bad they think it's something else. He's supposed to have a MRI, etc. Just keep him (& Ross...AND ME!) in your thoughts and prayers...if it isn't one thing it's another!

I'll have my laptop in Nashville so I'll be able to "talk" to you this weekend!
  • My goodness Meme! Another sick child. What is this with the little one and the fever? Kids often run a fever for no apparent reason. This doesn't sound good for little Garret either.

Hope you have a wonderful weekend. This is NOT my day. I gained 2 pounds at ww, just eating this stupid diet. I told you guys I don't do well on ww and this is just the proof. I don't eat chips, or junk food very often. I have given up sweets completely, have given up caffeine (I feel a lot better after giving that up) and have been going to a Holistic Dr. I am taking a bunch of stuff so that my glands and hormones balance out. This has reduced my sweet tooth down to nothing. So why can't I lose weight. I am eating within my points. I sure don't know what to do, but I am getting pretty frustrated with the whole thing! I try to convince myself, that the longer I stay on the program, the more it becomes a habit, but when you don't see results you just get bummed!!!!! Can anyone tell I am frustrated:lol

I am sick to death of this weather. It is just plain yuk!!!! I am glad I am not alone with it.

Glad things are rolling along smoothly for you Mima.
  • Not my day either...on top of everything else...my mom had a stroke today. She came over about 11 this morning and said her arm was numb. Well...being as she was my mom...I didn't know whether to believe her or not. The last few times I've planned a trip she got "sick" and tried to stop me from going but when I took her to the Dr. and/or ER they couldn't find anything wrong with her. When I went to Chicago a couple of years ago she told me she had been 'halucinating' suicide!!!!!!! (However you would do that I don't know!) So...needless to say when she came over and told me her arm was numb I didn't know if it really was or if she was just trying to ruin my trip this weekend for me. So...I offered to take her to the Dr. or ER but she kept saying lets wait and see. I waited until nearly 1 and when she said it wasn't any better I made her go to the ER. They did a CAT SCAN and sure enough she had a spot on her brain...they said it looked like a tiny blood vessel had burst and leaked out a little blood. Then they did another a couple of hrs. later and it had gotten bigger. I finally got her settled in her room about 10:30 and came home...now I'm headed for the shower...got to get up there early in the morning so I can be there when the Dr. comes in.

    When it rains it pours!!!
  • Hello
Happy- You probably ate something over the weekend that was within your points but had salt in it. If you ate out you can bet that it had salt. Just keep a careful record. It will come off. WW always made me crazy too. I don't go to meetings but watch it on my own at home. I did better going, true ,but didn't like the feeling of having to do it. Does that make sence? So far I have stayed within 2-3 lbs of goal. Lately ,I haven't been able to walk as much as I did, because of my knee pain and I am 3 lbs over goal. I am almost afraid to get on the scale some mornings but I force myself to face it.
Meme- What else can happen.. Your mother probably gave herself the stroke worring about you going away. We used to tell the family members where I worked to not tell their familys anything. Just go and they would not know anything or not tell until they were ready to leave.I used to have the same problems. I know well how you feel.
    Hello Ally ,Mima, Candice....Joanne
  • Meme...please keep usposted on your mom!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This weather stinks.furnace one minute and the airconditoner the next (our windows do not open). Floods, and some snow flurries in the forcast too! I can't get my flowers in yet so they are still sitting in the garage suffering!

Not much new here..had that bad fatigue for a few days hate that! I ate at the low end of my pts for a few days too.......

We are trying to get nursing home insurance cause DH does not want our health to take away form the farms the boys will be running. Boy are they picky..today I had to spen 30 min on the phone in an interview and boy did he ask alot of questions and gave me an alzheimers test too! They must think at 50 we fall apart! WE are trying to lcok it in at a low rate due to our ages so if we do need the care we will not have to sell a farm to pay for it.

Ya all heard of red rice yeast capsules for your cholesterol and triglycerides???????????????????
  • Hey There
Candice.. My son was taking Red Rice caps for a while. I don't know how well it works. Omega 3 oil caps are really good. We take them and it has helped. The Dr's reccomend them..
I would never go into a nursing home. I worked in them for 15 years and they are not where I would want to spend my last days.
    Bye...Joanne
  • Mom is not any better today. Her face started to draw a little this afternoon and scared the crap out of me...I thought she was having another stroke but the Dr. said it always got worse the first couple of days after a stroke before it started to get better. She will have to go to a rehab hospital next week. She told my husband tonight that it wasn't the Dr. that was making her go there it was me...she is mad at me because I told her today that I was just not able to bring her home with me and take care of her. It takes 2 nurses to take her to the bathroom but she thinks I can take her home with me...

I'm so beat...going to bed for about 5 hrs. sleep before I have to go back to the hospital.
  • Hey
Meme- I am really sorry about your mom... Do whatever the Dr's and you think is best about her health. They never want to go to rehab and don't realize that they will get the care they need there. I don't believe you can give her that just by reading all that you have to deal with at this time. As I stated before I am never in favor of going to a n/home either. Sometimes things are done for the best and not because it is the thing we want to do.My hubby's mother was in a n/home the last 10 years of her life. Believe me we could not deal with her. She was a terror on legs.My mother would have gone to one if she had lived to get out of the hospital.
    Hello everyone...Joanne
  • Meme..too bad about your mom and you don't need another person to care for...you have to think of yourself too. When someone has a stroke they need lots of care that we can't give at home.

Joanne..we don't want to go into a home either but this has at home care too and we got it for life. We jsut want to be covered if we have medical problems so the kids aren't burdened finacially. My dad was in a home for 8 months from a stroke then he died. There was noway we could care for him at home! he was young too!

So cold here, no flowers in yet.................Flooding everywhere!
  • Hi
Oh Meme, my mom was very difficult and I couldn't take care of her-I sympathize with you. Everyone goes to rehab after a stroke-they do wonderful things there. You have to be strong!!!You have a lot on your plate. I had 2 good days at work but it was so nice to come home .Leaving again tomorrow night. Brad has gone to put air conditioning in the church! It's snowing like crazy today!!!!I know what you mean Anne-yesterday it was 70 and I hurt. But my brain still works, I found out and I didn't have to move boxes-only read the tests. And I saw my friends and got a lot of attention and showed my wedding pictures which came out great. I am going to take it easy-I have to work 5 days next week-Brad might come up for a night. It's only 90 minutes away. We are going to buy a George Forman outdoor grill tomorrow. Maybe we can use it for dinner. They are great!!!Bye for now. Mima Hi Ally, Joanne, Candice, Anne, Meme.
  • Hi
Candice- We have been seeing on T.V. the flooding in the northern areas. Ofcourse we are wishing for some of the rain. Pinellas County has been judged the dryest county in the state. We are very prone to wildfires if we get lightning. A lot of the counties around us have had the rain that might help. It is in the 80's and 90's these days.
Mima- Sounds like life has returned to normal for you. I have two George Forman indoor grills. A small one and a large one. I love them and cook a good portion of my meats on them. They are great to get rid of most of the fats that would soak into the meats otherwise. We don't use our outdoor grill unless we have a good size croud. It is just a basic charcoal grill..
Hello Happy ,Ally, Meme..Everybody have a Good Weekend.
    Joanne
  • Gee guys. I posted you all a long note on Tues or Wed and it is not here. Maybe I posted on another site...
If so, I hope they are interested in my handyman stuff. I said that I married a carpenter and then had to pay his brother to fix things in my house cause he was always too busy or too tired.
Have the old bf coming over for dinner tonite. Turkey hunting is almost over (hope he gave the turkeys he got away)
Meme...I am so sorry to hear about your mom. You don't need anything else to worry about. And Garret? What happened with the tics?
Happy..... I saw an Opra show one time that said that the key to weight loss in not in food, it is in exercise. I think I have to agree. If I starve I can lose a certain amount of weight, but no more. However, if I eat exactly the same amount of food and walk an extra hour a day, I will lose weight. It has just been so crappy. It rained all last nite and the sun is coming out now and I will take the dog for a walk, but it is wet everywhere.
I have used my carpet shampooer three times since buying it a few months ago. This rain just makes my carpets all muddy.
I am taking a break from painting today. Next week, my messy son's room. It'll take a week to just pick up his dirty clothes.
HI Mima, Joanne and Candice too.
  • Good morning
Today looks like we are in for rain - raining until later on in the week. It is one of those nice, slow gentle rains, so the moisture actually penetrates the earth. We are slowly getting our water tables back up. Usually, this area is a wonderful growing area, but with the past 4 or 5 winters leaving little snow, it has become very dry. This should make the farmers happy,.

Meme, I am so sorry for all your problems. They must take a huge toll on you. I pray that your Mom comes out of this ok. You are right to get her into a rehab. because it would be almost impossible for you to look after her. You have enough problems just looking after you!

Joanne, I would love to send you some of this rain. I am sure Candice would gladly do so as well. Lets just sit back, have a cup of coffee and forget about all our weather.

Mima - good for you going to work. I know you said you really enjoyed doing that. I hope your FM doesn't flare up on you. Just try to get a little extra rest.

Ally - Do you have the shampooer permanently attached to your hand? I remember when the kids were home, and all their friends came over. Required a shampoo regularly.

I have lost all of my cravings for sugar. I have been having pproblems with yeast and have tried everything, but it has been there since Novemeber. I have tried creams and bullet things, and have taken 4 or 5 Diflucan. It appeared to help, but then a week later I had to take an antibiotic. I had a fungal growth that needed to be removed, but it was infected. It was right where the bottom of the bra hits, so it was always irritated. Finally got that removed on Friday, and am now in a bit of a flare. I think my body doesn't know what to do with the pain, so it just decides to let it run wild, like an unruly child, wreaking havoc on it's path. Hopefully it will pass soon.

Joanne - the reason for the weight gain, may have been the antibiotics, as I had been taking them for 6 days by that time. Now today, I have to take another 7 days worth, along with a diflucan pill to kill the yeast, and he gave me one more for after. The Holistic Dr., also has me on yeast killing regime. When I don't have yeast, my cravings for carbs goes out the window. I could care less if I ever see a candy or a sweet; another thing is that the fog and the exhaustion are very, very minimal. So perhaps people with FM have an overgrowth of yeast. Many MD's don't believe in that, yet I do, because of the way I feel.
