HELLO LADIES ~ havin' just a quiet night at home; it rained on and off today, finally clearing up at sunset (and it was a beauty too). Just did a crossword and finished my book before coming on here to check things out. DH was working on our cupboards today; he kept looking until he found out was wrong. We had to empty all the lower cupboards out and put a heater in to dry it out. Well, at least it's fixed now ...

:wel3fc: JEN ~ we are so glad that you found us and have joined in: yes, do come back and tell us a more about yourself. This is a nice, friendly group who knows what it's like to face challenges every day.

HI VAL ~ yes, she's in Manitoba with the Ministry of Health! Something to consider for your future: I would think there could be some possibilities there for you. Glad you got the call; and we'll keep praying too. Yes, CDC positions are supposed to be temporary mandates (3-5 years) depending on the needs of the town. Glad you had some fun at the beach; and love that NSV ... YEAH FOR YOU!!! I am now even sizes on top and bottom as I lost one size on top this year; but now I'm aiming to go down one more. Hey, if I could lose one full size a year that would be great; slow and steady to lessen the collateral damage ~ lol!
I understand that you want to blend in; I'm fed-up of mean people making me feel like a freak just becuz I'm not a thin as them. I want to be healthy, not a thin mint; and we aren't all meant to be identical anyways ~ VIVE LA DIFFERENCE, I say! Well, that's my rant ... lol!

MEOWIE ~ don't feel too bad about the chocolate; a treat now and then is OK but I know it can spike the sugars a bit. I like chocolate but haven't had any for awhile (since the holidays in late June/early July; before that was Christmas). Good idea on the aprons; I like to wear the ones that go over your head and longer like a tunic length. We are having cooler temps here too and I like that.

HEY PURPLE ~ two trips in one week isn't too bad; that's what we are doing too: going out to the lot about two days a week, on good weather days and spreading it out, so not to overdo it too much. We go shopping one day as well, so we are keeping busy; in between we do stuff around home. Yes, they are saying that China did a spectacular job with the opening which I haven't seen yet: I'll have to get DH to check that out for me as I have always liked sports.

Well that's all the news from here; my right calf has been giving me some grief and don't know why. Have been putting a fungal salve, and it has helped greatly, but it's a bit red and we don't know why. I just hope that bad scrape plus a few 'horse fly' bites didn't cause an infection. Hope it will be better soon, if not will have to go to the emerg next week to have it checked out. :(

Take care ladies, your friend :hug:ROSEBUD:hug:

Hi Ladies

Oh lovely so many posts since I posted yesterday so it has been nice reading through everyones to catch up and get up to date. I suppose it is because we all have more time at the weekend for the INTERNET that we all get to post. Any way I digress it was wonderful any way to come to read.

Had a lovely meal at friends last night and played cards till gone 12.30am. Good job I had a rest on the bed in the afternoon. Though come going home I had not been able to take my night medication namely amitriptyline so hence could not go to sleep until 3am gone. Not that it is a sleeping tablet it is actually an anti depressant tablet but I take it for the pain killing properties that it holds. I am no where in the dosage for a therapeutic usage for an anti depressant. It is very low dose really but works wonders for me and allows me to sleep. With not being able to sleep I commenced reading my book about midwifery in the 1950's with my reading light attached to my book. Well it got that funny at one point I was laughing so badly that I thought I would wake my DH who was sleeping peacefully. What was making me laugh was one of the nuns really was not your typical image of what you though of as a Roman Catholic nun. Sister Evangelina was born into a very poor family in the later part of the 1800's she did not even have shoes until she was 15 years old. So she due to her background was a bit rough and ready around the edges. Not that she ever swore but the way she talked to patients in the community you would cringe but they absolutely adored her as they also had nothing and she knew what that was like and they could relate to her.

JENTN :welcome3: to 3fc and especially to this thread. Look forward to hearing from you soon. You will find that people on hear are so supportive and without their help I would not have lost the weight.

VALDINE :congrat: the the interview later this month as you say that is the first step so fingers crossed :crossed: that goes well and you eventually get the change in jobs.

Yes I fully understand the want to blend in with the crowd as I am very much like you in that part. I hate it when your weigh loss causes the opposite you where trying to achieve. I get the same questions constantly how much have I lost and what plan did I follow. I am now getting your not going to loose any more weight are you. I would like to loose a tad more but if nature says that is not to be I am really happy what I have achieved. I always stood out when I was at my top weight I was nigh on always the biggest person there. Which makes people stare and nudge as you walk into a room. So I though if I lost the weight I would not be noticed coming into a room how wrong I was like you.

Yeah for you on going down another dress size :carrot: Excellent work and keep it up and you will soon be down another :D I am inbetween sizes at the minute. My trousers and skirts are a UK size 18 but they are big though size 16 is too small :( My tops are size 18 or a large but they fit nicely. I am never going to be small on top I am afraid god gave me big a bust :D

Yes so many are ignorant about MS and have not got the faintest clue about it. I do try and educate about it as best as I can about MS but sometimes with some it goes in one ear and out the other ;)

MEOWEE You seem to be busy with sewing aprons. Is that hand sewing or machine? I envy those who can machine sew as me and sewing machines do not mix. I just can not get the hang of it :D I tried and tried on my Mums sewing machine till I think my poor mother must have been pulling her hair out. Now I can embroider and hand sew say hems etc. I can knit and crochet but the elusive one still remains the sewing machine ;) It is good that you are so far ahead with your Christmas presents. Well I have done nothing in that department as yet apart from have a saving scheme for Christmas at a local supermarket. So that allows me to get the Christmas meat in as I have my parents come to stay at Christmas.

ROSEBUD :congrat: on going down a top size that is progress :carrot: I am sure with the walking you will find that your trousers will need changing very shortly. So keep up the good work and I am sure you will be rewarded.

Trying to rest as much as possible this weekend as I know the schedule is much busier and heavier than I like. So hopefully the rest will have some desired effect.

I do hope your left leg namely your calf is better to day and is healing nicely now.

Must go I have washing up to do and then I am going to have a rest on the bed as I am now getting rather tired. So take care every one till next time :grouphug:

meowee 08-10-2008 09:05 AM

Good Morning . . . :grouphug:

Another night of rain and another morning of overcast skies and high humidity. Finally managed to hang two OP days together in a row and the scale- gave me back 2 pounds for my trouble. Oh well . . . we just got to keep plodding along and eventually it will pay off. :crossed:

The apron count is actually at 11 (I forgot the first 4 that I'd already made for the kids). Finished the quilted one yesterday -- all machine work, Purple, I haven't even hand quilted in years. I also knit, crochet, cross-stitch -- so that brings the completed count to 7. BTW, all the ones for the adults are a type I think you would like, Rosebud, chef-style, over the head and with long ties that you wrap around the back and then tie in front. The ones that I did for the kids were the mobius shaped ones that sort of cross-over in the back. I still have enough fabric for another adult apron so guess I'll knock the count up to 12 and then convince my oldest son that he always wanted one for BBQ time. If not, the fabric is just going to sit there and haunt me.

Anyway . . . I'd better get moving and shaking around to a few more 3FC places and then out and about for a bit of a grocery run . . . Have a great Sunday and I'll see you all later.

Justwant2Bhealthy 08-10-2008 09:33 PM

HELLO CHICKIES ~ it turns out that we had pretty good weather today, so after lunch DH and I went up to the lot and he finished the northern side of the foundation; plus the corners of the last side (east). He was pretty proud of himself and I can't blame him as he has done well. I had a good time reading, writing, and I walked NIKO 3 x times around the track loop again. I had to tell myself 'you can do it; you can do it' and of course we did, and the adrenaline was going by that time ~ lol.

HEY PURPLE ~ DH has the Olympics on for me right now, so as soon as I get off here, I go watch some. Thanks for the congrats; I'll take any NSV's that I can get. Everytime one goes down, we're on our way to another. Thanks, my right calf and ankle looks a bit better today: and I am so glad as I was getting a tad concerned. I sat in the sun a bit as well to see if that would help to help it heal up faster.

MEOWEE ~ yes, those are just like the ones I have; I only have three and they are getting kind of old now, and they are hard to find too. You are doing your family a great service there; and I'm sure they appreciate it too.

HIYA VAL ~ Both you and PURPLE are at my main goal size, which is to be a size 18 or a perfect "large". Right now, I am fitting well into a 2x on both top and bottom, but I can also fit into a 1x on top, depending on the style and who makes it. I am shorter than both of you, so that makes a difference too; as I always weighed less and took a smaller size than my taller, big-boned friends when I was younger. I chose that size because I know I would feel much more comfortable; and you can get almost any clothes in that size.

Well, we didn't get home til after seven and by the time we had a quick dinner, it was after eight o'clock. DH is so tired he is going to bed early. Gonna go catch some of those Olympics and have some tea.

So take care ladies, your friend :hug:ROSEBUD:hug:

meowee 08-11-2008 08:56 AM

Good Morning . . . :grouphug:

Weather yesterday turned out to be nicer than was originally predicted and so I spent more time doing the outside stuff and never did get any sewing done. Today, the prediction is for better (sunnier) than yesterday -- wonder what it will actually do out there . . . . . . sooooo, I am putting aprons on the agenda for today.

Happy to report that I did have 3 good OP days in a row. Blood sugar is happy about it, but the scale definitely seems to be stuck at my ticker number. :halfempty: Hoping for some movement soon. :crossed:

See you later . . . :carrot:

Justwant2Bhealthy 08-11-2008 12:56 PM

HI LADIES ~ well, not much to report today, as we are just staying home and I am just doing stuff around here (a few housechores and other daily stuff). We are having turkey drums for dinner with roasted veggies; and I'm also baking up some chicken breasts for sandwiches for tomorrow while I am at it. Hope you all are having a wonderful OP day! Your friend :hug:ROSEBUD

Justwant2Bhealthy 08-11-2008 06:12 PM

HI LADIES ~ I'M BACK AGAIN ... I didn't know until after lunch if I was going to be able to get an appointment with my doctor: and I did at 2:30 pm. They have changed things so that those of us who need to see him right away can go to a clinic on Monday afternoons. That's a whole lot better than the way it was before (remember, the sign-up thingy :?:).

ANYHOW, I do have an infection in my right calf; I have to take a high dose of antibiotics for 10 days and put a special salve on four places where there are problem sores. I bought myself a new cane today; it's an adjustable one made of metal (so it can't break) and has a wrist strap so it won't fall on me; and it has a beautiful pattern of flowers in deep, rich colors. Now I can retire the old wooden one that kept breaking and was covered in tape ~ LOL!

So at least now I know what's up and how he wants to deal with it; it's better when you know what it is or you can get awefully anxious and start to worry. Hope you all have a great day ...

:hug:ROSEBUD:hug:

Hi Ladies

Sorry I did not have anytime to post in here yesterday in the morning before going to Wales and when I returned I was just to wiped out. I have had to be up early this morning at 7am as it is oxygen therapy day. Though we are up a shade earlier than normal for this day as DH has to take the rental van back to the firm. His brother occasionally has to hire a van if the order is a really big one then he hires a luton van which holds more than his long wheel based. Yesterday turned out to be a wasted journey as the cinema would not except the bean bags as it appeared to behind schedule. These cinemas are just being built we have been to about 5 of them now all over the country. So it looks as though we will be returning here in about a month.

MEOWEE I have the same problem at the minute I seem to be stuck I think some as put super glue on the scales ;) I seem to go up and down 2 - 3 pounds for weeks and weeks and can not budge from that. So I have reached I think that dreaded plateau which my DH has been on for months and months. Good for you though that you have stayed on plan for 3 days more than can be said for me :o With travelling long journeys I must admit the lure of the chocolate is so great at the minute for some reason :?: Never used to be in the previous 18 months

ROSEBUD Sorry to hear that you are on antibiotics due to your leg infection. :getwell: soon and wish you a speedy recovery. At least the infection was caugh early so hopefully it will disappear as quickly.

You talk of your new flowery metal cane that you have just purchased, many of the ladies as the MS therapy centre have them. I think it is a pretty and much nicer than other canes for ladies who have to use them. I am on my look out for one as I use one very occasionally when I am on my own anywhere. Normally I use my DH  as my walking stick as we walk arm in arm everywhere. I think people much think we are a new courting couple  but I do love him very dearly so it is rather nice  Without his steading arm I would have fallen over more times than I care to remember.

We won our first Gold medal in the swimming pool first time for 48 years (for a lady that is ) well the lady whom won it comes from a town 14 miles from my city. The lady who won was called Rebbeca Addlington. Well after that useless piece of information :D I have no more gossip :gossip: for now so bye bye ladies and take care but before I go  to VALDINE. So see you next time ladies

Good Morning . . . :grouphug:

My metal cane is kind of a rusty-brown metallic colour but no pretty flowers. :( Hey, since losing almost 75 pounds, it spends more time in the back of the car than it does with me. :yay: Thank goodness for shopping carts mind you because they seem to give me just that little extra support that I still need when wandering around those hard-floored stores for any lenth of time.

I slept in again this morning and when I did get up (7:30) it was :sunny:. that lasted all of ten minutes and now it definitely seems that today's forecast of lots of rain will be coming true.

Never did get any sewing done again yesterday -- if you check the bottom of my post you'll see why. I know I do not need another cat, but he was so cute and so in need of a home. Actually, right now it's like he's the only one since the other five are all 'in-hiding' right now which is better than the hissing and growling and posturing that was going on yesterday afternoon. Cats really hate change and right now they have their noses completely out of joint over the new-comer. I'm sure things will settle down in a day or so.

No big plans for today . . . so . . . hopefully I'll get back to some sewing. Weight is still stuck at 212 and (because of sleeping-in) the blood sugar was up a bit again. In 37 days, I'm off for a long weekend in North Carolina with a bunch of friends and I would soooooo like to get under 210 by then. Just keep plodding along, Linda . . . :crossed:

See you all a little later . . . :carrot: . . . and, oh, . . . Here's SANDY . . .

valpal23 08-12-2008 10:33 PM

yay i love your cat meowee! we have 3 of our own in my house. My cat, Shadow, has been with me since 1995. SO good of you to take Sandy in :) Cats are kind of stuck up arent they?

Rosebud - sorry to hear about the trouble with your leg. Be sure not to stress your immune system too much too with exercise or anything. You have a great goal (I am fitting into most store's clothing -- I fit the stuff at Reitmans but my goal is to fit comfortably into atleast a Smart Set size XL - which is a 14)

Purple
- congrats on the uk getting their first medal! and the winner being so close to your home too :) I dont know if Canada has won anything yet.... how were the opening ceremonies? I usually like to watch them...

I had a nap after work today -- the air conditioning in my office building is not working the last couple days. It has been more than 29 degrees C in my office.. too hot for me to focus! Anyways once I woke up from my nap I changed for my walk and took some quick pictures because I 'saw' the weight loss on myself (my mind has yet to catch up with my body) it's my new avatar and profile pic.

Anyhoo... hope everyone is staying cool these last few weeks of summer (well up here anyways)
take care
Valdine

Justwant2Bhealthy 08-12-2008 11:00 PM

HELLO CHICKIES ~ had nice weather today, sunny with some clouds and a nice breeze too! I love, love, love ... this cooler weather ...

WOWIE ... VAL ~ that pic sure does show how much you've lost; I looked at the bigger pic in your profile which shows it even better. Also, I really like the color of your hair; such a nice softer look and pretty too. No wonder people keep saying things about how different you look. Both you and PURPLE are taller, so you look even slimmer because of that!

HEY PURPLE ~ sorry that long trip turned out to be a such a bust. I have been watching the Olympics each night before bed too; congrats to you that your country's ladies won that Gold Medal. Like VALDINE haven't heard that Canada has won any medals yet. I sure hope we win some this time, but I know we are not a country that wins many medals anymore.

We seem to do better in the winter sports, but it would be nice to see that change. We need to make it mandatory to take gym in school again and get the sports programs up and going again. Our country is paying for that mistake in huge health problems: and obesity in children and adults is sky-rocketing ...

When I was a kid, there weren't hardly any kids even over-weight; can't believe what changes have occurred in such a short time. Junk food, fast food, and Inactivity has created a huge problem, I think (no pun intended).

MEOWEE ~ oh, Sandy is so pretty; I love all animals. Hope her mates accept here real soon. When I see that pic, it makes me want to get one too, but I have to wait til we get NIKO all trained. At the lot we go to; one ladies had several cats and they come and play in the lot next to my Dad's and of course, NIKO wants to go chase them; he's too curious and will get his nose swiped I'm sure ~ lol!

We went out the the lot today, but I only walked around the loop twice, as I felt kinda tired. VAL , that is probably why, so I'll take your good advice and take it easy on the exercise a bit. I have been falling asleep a lot lately too. Anyways, that's all the news from here for now, so take good care ladies, your friend :hug:ROSEBUD

purpleorc 08-13-2008 05:34 AM

Hi Ladies

It appears a bit temperamental in the weather department it does not know whether to rain :rain: or be sunny :sunny:. So it is one of those days which are difficult to dress for when it is sunny you are too warm with a rain coat on so end up carrying it.

MEOWEE That is so good of you to give another cat a loving home. I know that they can quickly get their noses pushed out of joint especially to change. We had a cat as I was growing up a black cat no other colour and it was a Heinz varied but he was lovely. Wow so you now have 6 beautiful cats to care for it must keep you busy. We just have the one dog a Staffordshire bull terrier and he makes so much mess it is unbelievable but so adorable.

Great news what your weight loss has done for your mobility and that you do not need your walking stick as much as previously. It is nice to have a nsv like that to help encourage you on your way. You have done so brilliantly to lose 75lbs as it is not easy to do the exercise when mobility is hampered :cheer:

VALDINE At the Olympics we have won 2 golds 2 silvers and 7 bronzes I think to date the UK. I would suspect that Canada will get many medals in the track and field events and we will start to drop down the medal table. The opening ceremony was very spectacular and so well done. The people whom took part had spent so many months practising in some case years all for this one event and it showed in their polished performance. When the games come to London in 2012 we have much to live up to in 4 years time.

Wow no wonder you are flagging with no air conditioning in the offices at present. I like yourself do not mix with heat very well I just wilt. I still have not caught up with my new body image I still see myself at my old weight. Still cringing going through turnstiles in case I get stuck when in actual fact now I have no problems but in my mind I still fear the worse. I do not know when our body image catches up with our mind because it is taking a long time. But saying that I have been overweight since my early teens so it has many years to reprogramme. You look stunning in your avatar you have done so spectacularly well :cheer2:

ROSEBUD I think there is a lot in what you say about not taking sport in school or gym. I had to do sport right up until I was 16 on leaving school. I think schools now are so orientated in leagues and tables. Here they what their school to get highest on the league in stats ( exams taken at different intervals during school and the whole country does them. It was not around in my day) So to achieve the best they can they cut the hours of gym classes which I think is wrong. Parents in this day and age are frightened to let their children out to play so they do not get the exercise that we once did. So the only exercise many get is in school during gym class. We know that exercise pays a part in weight control so take that away and the inevitable happens. This problem will only compound as the next generation will be overweight or even morbidly obese and it is already known that if you have one or more parents who are overweight then your child is more likely to be so. Governments need to act now to help with making healthier foods cheaper rather than the burger places being cheaper to eat. Keep exercise in schools compulsory and so many hours per day. It is alright a child being well educated but not if they are going to die so young from weight related issues. Oops sorry been on my soap box :o so my rant is over

Great for you doing your 2 laps again that is really good. You will feel tired due to the extra exercise. Maybe a day off walking every 2 or 3 days until you feel able to up it. Our bodies do need rest so I very rarely do 7 days per week more like 5 days out of 7. I can really see how much progress you have made this last few months in exercising. So keep up the good work :carrot:

Well time for me to go as I am going shopping for my weekly groceries. bye ladies and take care

meowee 08-13-2008 08:25 AM

Small world . . . I used to have a dog (when I was in my teens) named Shadow. Anyway, SSDD in the feline menagerie I call my home -- all six are still jockeying for position. Sandy is getting braver though, now he is wandering as far as the living room although his favourite spot still seems to be under the kitchen table.

Latest weather forecasts are calling for mostly sunny right through the weekend . . . :crossed: . . . would be a very pleasant change from all the rain we've had this summer so far.

I managed to get up at a normal time (6 am) this morning and consequently got a much better BGL. Unfortunately, the scale doesn't love me as much as is still totally stuck at my ticker number. :(

Hope everybody has a great day . . . try to keep stuff moving and shaking just as much as you possible can, gang . . . :carrot:

Justwant2Bhealthy 08-13-2008 09:46 PM

HI LADIES ~ Well, we got some shopping done today too; and so I got some more walking in and was very tired when we got back, so I put my feet up for a while. It was cool and sunny; then hot and sunny; and now it's raining on and off, but cooling off nicely.

Picked up some fresh Ontario fruit and veggies today. We had lovely dinner of fresh mixed veggies of broccoli, carrots, etc and chicken and fresh corn tonight for dinner; one of my favorite meals, as you know. The corn was so sweet; love it when it's fresh like that: a real treat.

PURPLE ~ yah, I can get on a soap box too once in a while, esp about kids and gym too. I just think it's of a major importance to our well-being throughout life; heck, just look how it affects so many people now.

MEOWEE ~ glad Sandy is starting to get braver and hope the rest let him join the family group. I am so grateful to my cane for keeping me upright; esp for my knee that likes to collapse when it's stressed too much and how it eases my back when walking. As someone with Spina Bifida, I wish I had known years ago how much an assistive device like a cane would have helped my walking. It is helping me to be much more mobile; and I see dozens and dozens of people using them now: many of whom wouldn't be able to get around at all. It helps us all to become much more active as you know ...

VAL ~ yes, you do look absolutely stunning in that picture. I have lost weight many times before and know very well how hard it is to reconcile your old image to the new YOU! It does take some time: I still think that I may collapse people's chairs or that I won't fit into them, but I can fit into all of them now. DH says that I keep thinking that I'm the same size as before, but I'm not ~ lol!

Well we had a busy day and I'd better get off here as some big, dark clouds are looming out there again; and storms aren't good for the PC's. So take good care ladies, your friend :hug:ROSEBUD:hug:

Justwant2Bhealthy 08-14-2008 10:28 PM

HELLO LADIES ~ hope everyone had a good day and is feeling well too. We had a good day at the lot; Dh finished the basic foundation today; just the inside weight-bearing wall to do all down the center. He was quite pleased and I took some pics of it for him too.

We came home eary and had leftover chicken and veggies with rice for dinner: love it ... Now I'm going to go make my tea and put up my legs with a puzzle, as I am a bit tired: I think the meds (antibiotics) are making me a bit tired too (plus all that fresh air too, I'm sure).

HELLO TO PURPLE and MEOWEE ...

Have a great evening and VALDINE ... TGIF tomorrow; hope you have a good one. Take good care ladies, your friend :hug:ROSEBUD:hug:
